Our organization recently implemented an asset management system for our utility departments. The software is a decent product if an organization doesn't have an existing GIS. We are already invested heavily into ESRI. Needless to say the AMS software does not function well with our current GIS procedures. I was recently told not to make schema changes but once every 6 months if not just once a year. For example I want to add fields to our Hydrant layer (Year Made, Number of Outlets, Picture/BLOB Field, Paint Color, SubModel, Notes). Also I wanted to add some domains to the "Manufacturer" since we had some hydrants that were not listed in the pre-existing domains.
Feeling as if my database has been hijacked! We would greatly appreciate feedback, to either put my worries at ease or maybe validate my true feelings:)
