Sometimes a task-based viewer with one layer is appropriate. Other times, a TOC is needed, for a more general purpose viewer. The first is no substitute for the latter. Example: arcgis.com itself. Users are indeed capable of understanding a TOC. Until they add it, we all continue to use different TOCs and use 'unsupported 3rd party code' in terms of tech support. I suggest they just officially incorporate AGS TOC. Even the feds use it. And we're all already quite familiar with it.
I would definitely like to see official support for Table of Contents. We don't need it for all applications, but certain areas make standard use out of this utility and it would be of great help if this were added. It's currently in the Web App Builder environment, but I like to create apps from scratch. Any chance this will be a possibility in the future Kelly Hutchins?
Ah, the TOC in WebApp Builder is very nice. Has legend integrated and can do transparency. Perfect. All that's left to do is put into API..
There has been some discussion about adding the TOC from the Web Application Builder to the JSAPI but at this point we do not have any detailed info - such as a specific date or version number for when this release will happen.
Thank you for letting us know this, Kelly. App Builder's TOC would be perfect.
