Dear GeoNet Is there a way to retrieve the return value of a geoprocessor by the name of the value? Currently I am using the call: IGeoProcessorResult geoProcessorResult = gp.Execute(toolName, parameters, null); I am able to retrieve the geoprocessor results from the array geoProcessorResult with: IGPValue myValue = geoProcessorResult.GetOutput(i); But I would like to retrieve the result with the name of the parameter instead with the index. Looking forward to any suggestions. Best regards, Yvo

Dear list I try to set the Z values of all vertex of individual lines by a fixed value / attribute. All vertex of a single geometry are getting the same value. Somehow I tried to set the values through the geometry object I retrieve from the cursor. But the values are not written back to the geodatabase. updateRows = arcpy.UpdateCursor(targetLayer) for updateRow in updateRows: shapeObj = updateRow.getValue(shapeFieldName) # Multipart geometries. for partObj in shapeObj: for pointObj in partObj: # Only valid points. if (pointObj != None): # Setting the values of the z cooridnates to a fixed value. pointObj.Z = 9999 updateRow.setValue(shapeFieldName, shapeObj) updateRows.updateRow(updateRow) I don't understand why the changed geometries are not written to the database. What would be the correct way to do it? I am looking forward to any hint and ideas. Best regards, Yvo

Dear List I am using a relationship class (1 : n) between two feature classes (a : B). To relate newly imported features of the feature class B with the individual feature of a I would like to use ArcPy in the same workflow. Is there an equivalent of the ArcObjects method IRelationshipClass.CreateRelationship(origin, destination)? Looking forward to any hint. Best regards, Yvo

Hi Thank you for the hint. But I am still surprised that relative addressing of the individual raster sets isn't possible. From my point of view, absolute addressing (even with UNC path) of data should be avoided in every possible case. Let's see, perhaps I will find something. Yvo

Dear list After extensive contact with the ESRI support team we figured out, that the above mentioned approach is not working. In case of modeless forms, the Application.Idle event never reaches the form. This happens only in case of modal forms. The only workaround is to use the Update-method of the calling AddIn or ICommand. Within this method you could call a public method OnUpdate of the form. That works quite well, but unfortunately, there is a certain delay when Update() is called from ArcMap. Best regards, Yvo

The two options for loading data into a mosaic dataset is to use UNC or absolute paths. Are you planning on distributing the mosaic datasets inside your organization? If so, I would suggest using UNC paths to load the data into the mosaic dataset. Patrick Dear Patrick I am looking for a similar possibility as it was provided in the dbf-based raster catalogs. There the usage of relative path was possible, so you could store the data all different possible medias such as DVD and distribute it. The catalog was stored in the highest directory and the data in lower directories. That worked in all situation (except you changed the internal structure). I am wondering if the same approach is possible using mosaic datasets? That would simplify the distribution of data using medias such as DVD or external hard drive much easier. Best regards, Yvo

Dear all This is exactly the question I am also looking at. Implementing IFeatureClassDescription allows you to set the FeatureType. But does someone knows how to define the GeometryType (e.g. Point)? Looking forward to any hint, Yvo

Dear list Is it possible to use relative paths to reference imagery in mosaic datasets? Till now, I just found the use of absolute path. Using relative path could simplify the distribution of mosaic datasets a lot. Looking forward to any hint. Best regards, Yvo

Dear list I try to use the Application.Idle event to handle to appearance of controls in a Add-In using Windows.Forms with defining the event handler in the constructor of the form: Application.Idle += new EventHandler(Application_Idle); Calling the form with (modal) selectionMutation.ShowDialog() the event handler is called as soon as the application goes idle. As soon as I call the form with (modeless) selectionMutation.Show() the event is not reaching the form anymore and the event handler will not be called. Does anyone knows the reason for that and to overcome this problem? Looking forward to any hint, Yvo

Hi That sounds very reasonble: So you needed to change the mode to STA. Thank you very much for the hint. But I was looking for the "switch" to change to STA. Can you give me another hint, how to do it. Thank you very much, Yvo

Dear List I am trying to use UnitTests with the provided framework within VisualStudio 2010 and ArcGIS (ArcEditor) with C#. The main problem seems the initializing of the ArcObjects. As soon as I am using an ArcObject object in a test method the following exception is thrown: System.Runtime.InteropServices.InvalidComObjectException: COM object that has been separated from its underlying RCW cannot be used. As first I initialize the ArcObjects environment with a test method defined as [AssemblyInitialize]: ----------------------------- private static AoInitialize aoInitialize; [AssemblyInitialize] public static void AssemblyInitialize(TestContext context) { RuntimeManager.BindLicense(ProductCode.EngineOrDesktop); aoInitialize = new AoInitializeClass(); aoInitialize.Initialize(esriLicenseProductCode.esriLicenseProductCodeArcEditor); } ----------------------------- The license is correctly checked out. But as mentioned, ArcObjects-based objects are throwing the InvalidComObjectException. I tried several ways of initializing, but till now unsuccessfully. Does anyone has an idea? I am looking for any hint. Best regards, Yvo

Dear List Is there a way to analyze the locally installed AddIns? I would like to iterate over all installed AddIns and to add specific menus from specific AddIns to a MultiItem. In this way I could create a dynamically build menu, based on the AddIns installed. I could imagine a similar access, bout through ArcObjects, as the ???Customize -> Add-In Manger ?????? of ArcMap: Iterate over all installed Add-Ins Iterate over the published Types of an AddIn Using a specific Type (e.g. Menus -> menu) Does somebody knows if this would / could work? Happy for any hint. Best regards, Yvo

I would like to loop through all available Add-Ins on the local machine and adding some menus, or tools, to a dynamic menu or toolbar. Does somebody see any chances to do something like this? Looking forward to any hint. Best regards, Yvo
