Hello, I have a dem that I have added to ArcGlobe and have created a series of contours using tool in spatial analyst. I want to label the contours with height but the labelling function doesn't seem to be working. Any ideas on the best way to do this? Ideally I would like the elevation value standing above each elevation contour. Thanks for any help.

The set up is Position Frmt: UTM/UPS Map Datum: WGS84 Unit: Metric North ref: Grid Variance: 0,02 E Angle: Degrees I attached to you a file.txt with some point You said that UTM 30N coords York are the same value that I will find in France using the WGS 84 Web Mercator (Aux sphere) coordinate system. However when I introduce my value (gps point) in googe earth, there are location in York not in France. This is why I am too bewildered. Thanks you for your help Also i just looked at this data. The x coordinates have 6 characters and the y coordinates have 7. Is this right? Shouldn't they both be 6?

I do not have the cable to download the gps data (garmin etrex H) to the pc I need and aerial photograph of my place with high resolution. Is it free to access this information to ordnance survey? Yes it is part of OS opendata products. However it's not aerial imagery.

Try running the data through a proper GPS convertor such as GPSBabel. http://www.gpsbabel.org/ You might also want to look at alternative basemaps. How about converting the points to British National Grid and using OS Streetview? http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/business-and-government/products/os-streetview.html

Thanks Zackliu. I've got arcpy working again now in ArcGIS at least. I uninstalled all previous versions of python and reinstalled python from the ArcGIS installation package. However now PythonWin won't install. When I try i get a message saying Python 2.7 is not present even though I just installed with with ArcGIS. I'm not sure where to go from here. Like csny mentioned I think I might just go for a complete uninstall and reinstall.

Perhaps you installed another version of Python other than the one that is (by default) installed with ArcGIS? BTW: Do not do that. Too late! That explains why it's broken. I've been messing around with Python trying to get some script to work that I copied from somewhere. I downloaded and installed a few different version of Python. Looks like a complete resinstall is in order :S

Hello, I'm trying to learn to Python but am stumbling at the first block. When I try to import arcpy I get the following error message: >>> import arcpy
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<interactive input>", line 1, in <module>
ImportError: No module named arcpy I'm sure I've imported and installed everything as I should. Any ideas? I've also tried running it in the Python window in ArcGIS. I get the following error message. I was trying to alter some code before christmas so I'm not sure if I've accidently deleted something. Runtime error

Thanks for the reply....It worked with 5 images...then I loaded about another 50 and left it overnight. In the morning I was greeted with the same old error! and 64bit Processing set-up? what´s that...and how do I do it? Here.. http://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/2012/10/31/announcing-64-bit-geoprocessing/ Ah you're using 10.0. I think you've ran into the limits of 32 bit processing.

It's probably easier to create a new mosaic dataset from scratch: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/index.html#//009t0000003p000000

Thanks Michael. I've already been playing around with slope as well as standard deviation filters and these give a really good result of where each of the features are. I guess what i'm trying to do is to map the extent of gullying across the DEM if that makes sense? I guess I can just reclass to include all slopes above a certain angle and that will do the trick. I'll give the cut fill tool a go as well as I think i've just found a way to create a rough 'before' surface.

Hello i was wondering i anyone here is experienced in geomorphometry? I have a DEM dataset of an area of landscape that is heavily eroded with gully features. What I would like to try to automatically map these features. So for example a polygon layer would be created showing where these features are. Other things I would like to try include calculating the area of gullying compared to the rest of the DEM. Also if there was someway to calculate the total volume of surface material lost to gullying that would be amazing
