Unlike the manual GUI-based process of creating a geodatabase topology, arcpy's Add Topology Rule tool apparently cannot import rules from a .rul file. I am also not aware of any ability for arcpy to read or export geodatabase rules to a .rul file. (The .rul file contains topology rules and can be exported and import to/from geodatabase topologies using ArcGIS Pro.) Please add the ability for arcpy to also read, import, and export rules from/to a .rul file (or a similar file format, e.g. text, json, etc.) as this would simplify creating and maintaining topologies.

Adding my 'kudos' to this idea ... and also echoing the previous person who mentioned taking a screenshot of the fields to help when writing straight SQL. It's been five years since this enhancement was requested--could we get an update?

Is this Idea not feasible? Under consideration? Something else? Given that it was posted over eight years ago, it'd be nice to see some action one way or another on this useful request.

@ts_noaa, which ArcGIS Server version are you using? It's my understanding that v11 had some fairly major revisions compared to the 10 series. Also, have either you or @rmcooper_wcpss tried accessing the tables directly from ArcMap instead of Pro? I realize it's imminently sunsetting (and if you're a Fed it might already be uninstalled), but we've had some really strange and/or kludgy Pro behavior with direct-connections to enterprise geodatabases (i.e. just using drivers with no intervening Portal) that seem to vary by minor releases--e.g. between 3.1.0 and 3.1.2.

Putting a comment on this in hopes it gets some attention/traction. Publishing and managing services from Pro still doesn't compare to what we had with ArcMap.

Eight and a half years later, this post is still very relevant and I've found myself re-visiting it about every 6 months. Esri has touched-up their documentation but it still needs help. My most recent scenario was using a polygon to "difference" a line geometry that was partly coincident with the polygon's boundary. The documentation is vague on this scenario and I tested it using your handy bit of code above. The "difference" method uses the "Esri within" and not the "Clementini within" when comparing features. This is in contrast to the "within" method, which IS a Clementini operator. Nuts.

We're well past the three-year mark on this Idea and it's still marked as "Open". Administering our map/feature/etc. services via the Server Manager webpage is clearly ponderous and time-consuming relative to the capabilities we had with ArcCatalog. Esri, what's the status on this Idea? Why is it still marked as "Open"?

I see improvement with this "metadata" (I know, a loaded term) but in Pro 3.1.1 I still can't see the size of file geodatabases within Catalog. Adding this would be very helpful.

Good recommendation. Esri, make it obvious--we shouldn't need to sift clues to see what we're logged into.

Whenever ArcGIS Pro 3.2 is released, will it be certified to work with PostgreSQL 15 and/or PostGIS 3.3? I'd love to use some of the new/improved PostGIS 3.3 functions alongside our SDE data. Prior discussion indicates that PostgreSQL version compatibility typically goes up a version with each new major release of ArcGIS Pro ... and I've also seen hints that ArcGIS Pro 3.2 will be released later in 2023 or in Q1 of calendar-year 2024.

Have you considered an insert cursor? It would take arcpy but it may allow you to functionally append records without using the "Append" geoprocessing tool. InsertCursor—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation

For the ArcPy 'within' method, I'm having a hard time coming up with a scenario where the CLEMENTINI option returns a result different from the PROPER option. For example: I have a line and a rectangle. The line starts at a vertex of the rectangle and dangles into the interior of the rectangle. The methods line.within(rectangle, 'CLEMENTINI') and line.within(rectangle, 'PROPER') both produce True. I expect the 'PROPER' option to return False since the end of the line intersects a vertex of the rectangle. As Vince said, the boundary of a line includes its start and end points, and the boundary polygon is its actual boundary. The relationship between these two geometries intersects at a point, so I'd think the 'PROPER' relation paramater would produce a False. At least that's how I read it in the documentation... Any ideas why these are both True? Let me know if this is worth a separate discussion/question elsewhere in GeoNet.
