Hi Wei, I don't use the Javascript API, but what about esri.geometry.geodesicUtils? Melita Thanks for your reply. But I don't think using geodesic calculation can get the accurate result. Wei

You only really need the conversion algorithm for Web-Mercator to your local projection. With this, you could modify the widget to fit your needs or convert the values after a measurement event. Thanks for your reply. But how to use the conversion algorithm? Do you mean convert the graphic layer from Web_Mercator to my local projection. I really get confused here. I think the MeasureWidget only accept WebMercator input. Wei

Hi, I am working on the measurement widget, and it seems that the out of box 'esri/dijit/Measurement' widget is always based on Web-Mercator projection. This makes the measurement result not as accurate as local projection if I understand correctly. Is there a way to use local projection to do the measurement by using this widget? Or I must build a fresh new widget from scratch by myself if I want to get accurate measurement result? Thanks, Wei

Hi, I am new to JavaScript and ESRI JavaScript API. I am trying to enable the IntelliSense for the ESRI modules by using AMD, but it seems doesn't work. I have put the "jsapi_vsdoc12_v38.js" file in the VS solution, and reference with " <script type="text/javascript" src="Scripts/jsapi_vsdoc12_v38.js"></script>". But it seems that it doesn't work in the AMD. Is there a way I can enable it? Without IntelliSense, it will be too hard to coding. Thanks, Wei

Have you looked at the Time-Aware Layers-section in the Interactive SDK? If not, have a look at this: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/silverlight-api/samples/start.htm#TemporalRendererTracks Thanks for your answer, Johan. But I think this Time-Aware layer, which retrieves the existing route from map service, can't fulfill my requirement. What I want is dynamically calculate the graphics positions for each time-step and visualize them on the map. Best, Wei

Hi, I have some point graphics in one graphicLayer on the map and I want to move their positions to the new places every 5 seconds based on some criteria. Also on the map, these point graphics' movement can be visualized dynamically. How should I do that? It seems the map won't update until the graphics' last movement were finished. Should I create a new thread to fulfill this dynamic visualization or there is any other trick? Thanks, Wei

Hi, I have a measurement tool, but it seems that the user can not pan out of the screen extent if under measurement mode (i.e., they want to measure a large area or distance under large scale). Is there an easy solution that can let the user pan outside of the screen extent while measuring (i.e., the elastic graphic is still visible)? Maybe what I want is if the user press the left mouse button and drag, the map will pan; while if they just simply click the mouse, a vertex is generated. Thanks, Wei

Many thanks for your detailed answer, Mike. So this leaves ArcObjects only useful in the case of customize ArcGIS (e.g., ArcMap, ArcCatalog) software. Since the ArcObjects is not easy to learn and use. does ESRI has any plan to wrap up the current ArcObjects and release a new non-COM based API to customize the ArcGIS desktop environment? Best regards, Wei

Hi there, I'm new to this ArcGIS Runtime SDK for WPF. It seems to me that the purpose of this SDK is to replace ArcGIS Engine. Am I correct or what's the difference of these two products? Thanks for your time to help me. Wei

Hi, I have a bunch of graphics (over 20 pairs) need to run the geometry service to calculate their distances, and I only created one Geometry service object in my code. it seems that I must wait the geometry service to finish one calculation then I can run the next calculation. This makes the performance really low. Is there a way that I can do a batch call the geometry service (not only this distance calculation, but also other geometry service tasks like intersection)? How about if I create an array of geometry services, and associate each one of these geometry services with a graphic pair and execute them at the same time? Is there any limitation for the number of geometry service objects can run at the same time? Thanks, Wei

Hi, I try to use the Editor to edit my feature layer (already versioned). All the binding button (i.e., Add, Select, Delete) works. But all the edit changes doesn't affect the database at all (I checked the SDE database). Our web services are secured, and I use proxy. What I did is: 1) Add an Editor to the Grid resources: <esri:Editor x:Key="EditWellPadPolygon" Map="{Binding ElementName=MyMap}" LayerIDs="WetlandsDelinationArea" GeometryServiceUrl="http://ourwebsite/ArcGIS/rest/services/Geometry/GeometryServer" EditCompleted="EditWellPadPolygon_EditCompleted"/> 2) Add the Feature layer to the map layers: <esri:FeatureLayer ID="WetlandsDelinationArea" ProxyUrl="../proxy.ashx" Url="http://ourwebsite.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/Project/EcologyMobileProjects/FeatureServer/6" AutoSave="True" ValidateEdits="True" DisableClientCaching="True" Mode="OnDemand" Opacity="0.8" Visible="False" OutFields="*" InitializationFailed="MapServices_InitializationFailed"/> 3) Add an editing panel with all the buttons: <StackPanel x:Name="editSP" Orientation="Vertical" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" DataContext="{StaticResource EditWellPadPolygon}"> <Button Command="{Binding Add}" Content="1. Add New Record" ToolTipService.ToolTip="" Margin="14,0,14,5"> <Button.CommandParameter> <sys:Int32>10101</sys:Int32> </Button.CommandParameter> </Button> <Grid > <Rectangle RadiusX="4" RadiusY="4" Margin="7,1,7,1" Stroke="Olive"></Rectangle> <StackPanel Orientation="Vertical" VerticalAlignment="Stretch"> <Button Command="{Binding Select}" CommandParameter="New" Content="2. Select a Record to Delete" Margin="14,8,14,8"/> <Button Command="{Binding ClearSelection}" Content="Clear Selection" Margin="28,2,14,8" Visibility="Collapsed"/> <Button Command="{Binding DeleteSelected}" Content="Delete Selected Record" Margin="28,2,14,8" Visibility="Collapsed"/> </StackPanel> </Grid> <Button Command="{Binding EditVertices}" Content="3. Change a Record Shape" Margin="14,5,14,5"/> </StackPanel> I don't think I need to code in the code behind. Correct me if I am wrong. To make sure this is not the problem, I added code in the code behind, but still doesn't work (I catched there is a Cancel action when I try to fire the add action. Don't know why.): private void EditWellPadPolygon_EditCompleted(object sender, ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Editor.EditEventArgs e) { switch (e.Action) { case ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Editor.EditAction.Add: editEditor.Add.Execute(null); break; case ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Editor.EditAction.Save: editEditor.Save.Execute(null); break; case ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Editor.EditAction.DeleteSelected: editEditor.DeleteSelected.Execute(null); break; } } Many thanks for any help!
