Currently it seems the default behavior of the Auto-Pan Navigation mode where the screen will pan and rotate based on location updates and the direction the device is traveling, is if you pan or zoom in/out the map, it takes the user out of Navigation mode. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? As is, it's pretty frustrating for users who are in navigating and then want to zoom in or out suddenly get kicked out of that mode and into the map facing north. Seems more like a bug than expected behavior.

We are noticing a pretty large battery drain when using our iOS app. The app utilizes the GPS a fair amount and wondering if that doesn't have alot to do with it. Would it help to have an icon to toggle off the GPS so that it completely turns off the use of the GPS, or is that even possible? I'm not seeing anywhere in the Guide or API which mentions the GPS is completely being turned off, but only where the location icon shows or not.

Thanks for the reply Russ. So by saying exporting a hosted tile service in a future release, are you saying from a ArcGIS online subscription published hosted tile service? Basically it would work similar to how taking feature services offline right now?

I understand how to take a tiled map service offline using the sideload method which unfortunately is way more steps that I think most people will and want to take. Feature Services are super easy to quickly take offline, but I'm not seeing a way to easily download a tiled map service outside of the sideload tpk file method.

Thanks for the reply Russ. Is it documented somewhere on how to do this in more detail. I'm not totally sure how to sideload and where in Collector you can select the tpk file.

I'm not seeing a way to publish a tiled map service for offline use if I go the tiled map package route vs. using credits going the direct publish route. There is no Advanced button when creating a tiled map package that there is when publishing directly. Am I missing something or is this not possible?

I'm pretty excited about the new Landscape layers such as the various Soil type imagery services. Does anyone know if it possible to clip out small areas of that imagery service since I only need the soil data on small area and it will look much cleaner if I can clip to ta feature class of my area of interest. Thanks

The link below in the ArcGIS.com online help under the Tip section, discusses being able to choose "Enable attachments" under a feature service layer in ArcGIS.com. I would like to do this from some hosted feature layers I have published from ArcMap using my ArcGIS online subscription account. However, I can't seem to get a hosted feature service layer to show this option. Is there something I need to do in ArcMap to enable attachments before publishing to ArcGIS online? Or something I can do once it's published? I've looked everywhere and can't find any help for this in the online help either. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/arcgisonline/index.html#//010q000000n0000000

Even though I have the setting checked to automatically cache tiles at the time you publish within an ArcGIS online organization account, it never does this. Every time I have to go to arcgis.com and open up the map service and manually create the cache tiles from there. Is there an additional setting or step I'm missing?

Thanks Al. From your experience with the the Xamarin/MonoTouch product do you see any negatives or issues with using it vs. Objective C?

Xamarin seems to possibly have the best cross-platform development tools allowing the ability to reuse the same C# code across iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and Windows RT and still utilize native UI tools for each platform. I'm curious if anyone has any experience utilizing the Xamarin SDK with the ArcGIS Runtime? And if so have you had any issues or concerns with using the product? Looks it's a pretty popular idea on the ideas.arcgis.com site with a combined of 3 related posts with a combined points total of 170 points. http://ideas.arcgis.com/ideaView?id=087E00000004GV8IAM http://ideas.arcgis.com/ideaView?id=08730000000bxPrAAI http://ideas.arcgis.com/ideaView?id=087E00000004VjaIAE

Mike, Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the confusion on my question but I didn't mean to say or imply that there would be any desire to mix map and feature service symbology. I meant to only refer to feature services, so I updated my question. Does that change your answer at all? Also, I don't have any desire to have any fancy symbols, basically some symbol ones that show either a single letter or number. There is already a few that show letters available in the ArcGIS viewer but none with simple numbers. Seems like this is a pretty common request, I see several separate requests but very much related ones on the ideas site.

So I know I can apply custom symbols in ArcMap before publishing a hosted feature service or individually change symbols in the ArcGIS viewer by importing a symbol from url but I was hoping there was some way to quickly add unique symbols to all attributes much like how importing a layer package in ArcMap works. I know there is a way to have an empty feature service with all the symbology there but I was hoping for something similar but for new features added directly on ArcGIS.com. Basically if I have a shp file with say 15 point features that I want a unique symbol that shows a push-pin that has actual number labels on them (1 thru 15) If I click "Add Item" and select the shp file and have the option to use an existing feature service's symbology or attach a layer package for symbology. Thus it wouldn't show the default orange points but rather the symbology I selected. Maybe there is another way to currently do something like this now?
