I've run into a fun little issue with ArcGIS Server 10.2.2 to end my week with... I have discovered today that the export operation (the one that renders map layer images) is randomly returning blank images. As in - I enter an export url into the browser, hit F5, get expected image. Hit F5 again - get blank image. Hit F5 again - get expected image. None of the parameters are changing - its exact same url. There is no observable pattern - sometimes I got to hit F5 multiple times before I get the expected image. I remember facing a similar bug back at 10.1 - where every other GET query failed (How does that make it through testing???). This seems awfully similar to that. I starting search GeoNet - and have seen similar posts. Does anyone know if there is any official NIM for this issue - and more importantly a solution or workaround?

Thanks for your response. Here is the crux of the code I am using for my print task - no graphics layers ever make into exported map. As for proxy.config (ASP.NET backend), I have the mustMatch set to false, so I dont believe I need to add print task url. var printParams = new esri.tasks.PrintParameters();
printParams.map = App.map;
var template = new esri.tasks.PrintTemplate();
template.format = "pdf";
template.layout = $('#selLayout').val();
template.preserveScale = true;
template.layoutOptions = {
titleText: $('#inputMapTitle').val(),
authorText: $('#inputMapAuthor').val(),
scalebarUnit: $('#selScalebarUnit').val()
};
printParams.template = template;
var deferred = Mod.controller.printTask.execute(printParams);

I have a Javascript application that is attempting to allow users to create exports (png,jpeg,pdf...etc) of the web maps they create inside the application. I am NOT using the esri.dijit.Print, instead using the esri/tasks/PrintTask directly. For whatever reason, I can't seem to include any graphics (in either a GraphicsLayer or FeatureLayer instance) in the export. The Basemap and visible ArcGISDynamicMapServiceLayers are included exactly as expected. As far as I can tell, there is no flag in either the PrintParameters or PrintTemplate classes that would block graphics. When I look at the outgoing http request for PrintTask.execute(), the graphics are DEFINITELY not included. Is there something I am missing, any way to force graphics to be included on PrintTask.execute()?

A .soe file is simply a ZIP file containing the following items : Config.xml Install (directory containing : ) *.dll *.pdb If the Config.xml file is generated (and your dlls) then you can pack it yourself and upload it on ArcGIS Server. Thanks for the suggestion. However, not even the config.xml is produced, so this won't work for my situation.

I am trying to create a Server Object Extension for use in ArcGIS Server 10.2 - with Visual Studio 2012. The project builds/compiles without any errors or warnings, but no SOE file is produced. I have tried targeting .NET frameworks 4.0 and 3.5 with same result -> no SOE file. Any ideas?

In a 10.1 map service, I successfully used many subqueries on my map services.. An example where clause would be: AIRCRAFT_ID IN (SELECT AIRCRAFT_ID FROM COUNTRY_AIRCRAFT WHERE COUNTRY_ID = 5) All data is stored in a file geodatabase. After the upgrade to 10.2, this no longer works. I didn't change the code, or the gdb. Worked flawlessly in 10.1 for many moons. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Hello, I am setting up a geoprocessing tool based on a Python script and need to implement some fairly complex logic in the ToolValidator class. I have already created another module/script that includes this logic, and would like to use it in the ToolValidator class. I am trying to import the script by: sys.path.append('my_script_dir')
import my_script However, as soon as I try to save changes in the ToolValidator, I am hit with a runtime error: [Errno 9] Bad file descriptor. If I comment out the import statement, no error occurs when I apply changes. Does anyone know how I can import a custom (non-installed) script into the ToolValidator class?

Robert, Thanks for the reply. I have considered a draggable titlewindow, but its missing the anchor point that the infowindow provides. The information being displayed is tied to a parcel so I need to anchor whatever component I use to some point within that parcel. My customer has requested the ability to move the infowindow around the map, instead of panning the map to reposition the infowindow.

Hello, I am trying to implement a draggable/moveable InfoWindow. Sounded easy at first, but it looks to be a lot more challenging than I originally thought. Has anyone done this, or have any good suggestions?

Hello, I am trying to a publish a service which converts a featureset to kml. So, an input featureset could be of any geometry type - point,polyline,or polygon. However, if I don't define a schema for the input featureset, I get an "invalid parameter" error immediately when I try to call service from a Flex client. If I define schema, everything works as expected. Is there anyway to allow a gp service to accept a featureset of any geometry type?

For anyone who cares, this behavior only occurs when the map is accessed from a module. If I perform the same actions in the application containing the map, everything works as expected.

Hello, I have recently switched from Flex API 1.3 to 2.0, and am seeing a number of issues. First, I have a geoprocessing service (9.3.1) that returns a feature layer to be drawn at the client. When I start zooming out, the graphic layer starts shifting south. When I start zooming in, the graphic layer shifts north back to its original position. Second, the mapPoint registered for a mapClick event seems to be offset. For example, I will initiate an event at an intersection, and the results get drawn a significant distance south of the intersection. I have a feeling this might be related to the first issue. I never saw these issues with the 1.x API's. Anyone see something similar, or have any idea of what might be causing this behavior?

Thanks for your response. The current code I am using came straight from an ESRI C# example. I am dealing with multi-part polygons, that have inner and outer rings. Ideally, I would like the function to be robust enough to handle any feature class; shapefile, in-memory, SDE...etc. I have been testing against shapefiles and in-memory feature classes that have 10 "donut circles". Each circle has one inner and outer ring, each ring with 365 points, for a total 7300 points. I am not sitting in front of my workstation at the moment so I cant give the exact performance statistics, but is was somewhere around ~10 sec to read this shapefile, WITHOUT the writeline statements. Using the MapWin GIS component to read the same shapefile finishes <1 sec. public static void PolygonToString(IPolygon4 polygon)
{
IGeometryBag exteriorRingGeometryBag = polygon.ExteriorRingBag;
IGeometryCollection exteriorRingGeometryCollection = exteriorRingGeometryBag as IGeometryCollection;
Trace.WriteLine("polygon.ExteriorRingCount = " + exteriorRingGeometryCollection.GeometryCount);
for (int i = 0; i < exteriorRingGeometryCollection.GeometryCount; i++)
{
Trace.WriteLine("polygon.ExteriorRing[" + i + "]");
IGeometry exteriorRingGeometry = exteriorRingGeometryCollection.get_Geometry(i);
IPointCollection exteriorRingPointCollection = exteriorRingGeometry as IPointCollection;
for (int j = 0; j < exteriorRingPointCollection.PointCount; j++)
{
Trace.WriteLine("Point[" + j + "] = " + PointToString(exteriorRingPointCollection.get_Point(j)));
}
IGeometryBag interiorRingGeometryBag = polygon.get_InteriorRingBag(exteriorRingGeometry as IRing);
IGeometryCollection interiorRingGeometryCollection = interiorRingGeometryBag as IGeometryCollection;
Trace.WriteLine("polygon.InteriorRingCount[exteriorRing" + i + "] = " + interiorRingGeometryCollection.GeometryCount);
for (int k = 0; k < interiorRingGeometryCollection.GeometryCount; k++)
{
Trace.WriteLine("polygon.InteriorRing[" + k + "]");
IGeometry interiorRingGeometry = interiorRingGeometryCollection.get_Geometry(k);
IPointCollection interiorRingPointCollection = interiorRingGeometry as IPointCollection;
for (int m = 0; m < interiorRingPointCollection.PointCount; m++)
{
Trace.WriteLine("Point[" + m + "] = " + PointToString(interiorRingPointCollection.get_Point(m)));
}
}
}
}

Hello everyone, What is the fastest way to parse the points of a polygon feature class? I have been using the IPolygon4 InteriorRingBag and ExteriorRingBag properties, and then looping through the point collections for interior/exterior rings. It is ridiculously slow. Any other suggestions?

Thanks for suggestion about JSON.NET. I am using IGPFunction2 to create a custom tool (think ArcToolbox tool) that can be published to AGIS as a geoprocessing service. All of the examples I have seen for .NET tools to AGIS Geoprocessing Services went this route. If there is a better way, please tell me.
