India has embarked on an ambitious journey to transform into a Rs 4 trillion economy by 2022, the 75th year of the country’s Independence. Niti Aayog, the policy thinktank of the central government, charted the route of this journey by unveiling in December 2018 a comprehensive national strategy for New India that spelt out the objectives to be achieved by 2022-23. In technology, Geographic Information System (GIS) has a key role in driving this vision of digital transformation. GIS is already being used across various government initiatives which are not only driving the economic and social transformation of our nation but also helping us to be resilient and sustainable. GIS is being used to monitor and meet the country’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) enabling better infrastructure, accessibility and a better standard of living. With technology as a core foundation, the New India vision aims to solve core challenges across various sectors such as agriculture, water, health, necessary infrastructure and governance addressed across 41 areas. Explore the latest issue of ArcIndia News to see how GIS is driving the vision for a New India. Read the latest issue at https://www.esri.in/esri-news/publication/vol13-issue2

We have received a customer enquiry as per details below. We have already implemented Esri map Android SDK 10.2.8-1 in our product and have engaged thousands of active users. Due to Google policy changes for 64 bit variant we are not able to push our build update on play store. As we observed that migrating to 100.6 is very complex and time consuming as we have stable release at this point. Is there a 64 bit variant support SDK along with implementation document available?

Agriculture plays a very significant role in the overall economic outlook for India. However, the challenges faced by this sector have been growing multi-fold – changing demographic lifestyles, urbanization, climate change, natural / man-made disasters and much more. The technological advancement in Agritech offer promising solutions to improve the overall yield and productivity of the sector. Precision farming and precision protection are gaining ground. GIS and Remote sensing, in particular, are driving major innovations. Start-ups are creating innovative solutions - from hand-held food adulteration meters, to highly integrated databases that deal with multiple marketing chains. Even Indian government has acknowledged the central role of geospatial technology in proactive and dynamic policy-making that will help double farm incomes. At least four of eight sub-missions under the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture, and the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana depend on spatial analysis powered by GIS. Today, the chance to bring a very real paradigm shift lies in the hands of geospatial experts everywhere. Convergence of GIS, IoT, Big Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning gives you, GIS professionals, much more power to solve the complex problems of this sector. Explore the latest issue of ArcIndia News to experience how you can use GIS to drive new revolution in this sector. Read the latest issue at https://www.esri.in/esri-news/publication/vol13-issue1

The intersection between artificial intelligence (AI) and GIS is creating massive opportunities that weren't possible before. This video by Rohit Singh, Esri Inc showcases several examples of applying AI, machine learning, and deep learning to geospatial data using ArcGIS API for Python. It covers several scenarios of applying the latest machine learning and deep learning techniques to geospatial data, including the following: Detecting objects using satellite imagery such as locating swimming pools from satellite imagery using fast.ai and PyTorch, classifying healthy and neglected pools, and visualizing the results on web maps Detecting objects in videos using TensorFlow such as traffic volume and anomalies using live camera feeds 3D building shapes reconstructed from remote-sensing data Semantic segmentation (such as land-cover classification and identifying roads and building footprints) using satellite imagery and models such as U-Net and Mask R-CNN Enhancing imagery using super-resolution networks and increasing the clarity and zoom levels Generating maps from satellite imagery using CycleGAN Map art generation and cartographic style transfer using neural style transfer

Analysts and data scientists can use the ArcGIS API in combination with data science libraries in Python for mapping, visualization and geospatial data analysis. Python has positioned itself as a highly suitable programming language for data exploration and analysis with its rich ecosystem of libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, pandas, maptplolib, scikit-learn, etc. and interactive visualization environments such as Jupyter notebooks. The ArcGIS Python API follows suite in being your library for comprehensive analyses of geospatial data. With an intuitive design and easy to use syntax, the API opens up access to rich geoprocessing services and big data analysis capabilities of spatial data. ArcGIS API for Python is a Python library for working with maps and geospatial data. It provides simple and efficient tools for sophisticated vector and raster analysis, geocoding, map making, routing and directions, as well as for organizing and managing a GIS with users, groups and information items. In addition to working with your own data, the library enables access to ready to use maps and curated geographic data from Esri and other autorotative sources. It also integrates well with the scientific Python ecosystem and includes rich support for Pandas and Jupyter notebook. The video demonstrates how to perform sophisticated vector and raster analysis, geocoding, map making, routing and directions using a Pythonic API along with Jupyter notebooks and Pandas. Speaker: Rohit Singh, Esri Inc.

National mapping organizations (NMOs) in India have a vital role in providing relevant and accurate geospatial intelligence to support a variety of activities such as economic development, research, natural resource management, safety, and national security. NMOs are the leaders in collecting, managing, combining, and promoting the use of accurate and up-to-date geospatial data for use by the government, businesses, and the public. As the value of geospatial information becomes more widely recognized, customers are demanding more sophisticated products and greater access to the data. Customers are demanding more content, want to integrate data from multiple sources, integrate spatial data with non-spatial and expect currency, on-demand accessibility, and application-ready formats. This trend is driving NMOs to re-evaluate their offerings as well as how they interact with their customers. NMOs need to move from the separate silos of traditional map production workflows to a modern, multipurpose workflow based on a central database offering a range of products and services: "capture once, use many times." A clear vision and roadmap towards GIS platform-based approach would enable NMOs to build a workflow based Enterprise Data Production and Dissemination System that would help them to adapt to this new paradigm. Such a GIS-based platform would enable their processes by managing the high-volume collections, task-oriented production, and supporting the quick sharing of products. This would enable extending open geospatial capabilities to any user and allows access by any application on any device anywhere, anytime facilitation collaboration and sharing.
