This is an interesting quandary. I can see future application up here in Pennsylvania as our booming oil and gas industry mimics West Virginia’s. It is only a matter of time until our state legislators start asking us the same questions. I would think that intersecting a 3-D buffer tube against a DEM or terrain model would have promise.
