I'm using the CIM to make some adjustments to a raster layer in a map. I've found most of what I need under the cim.colorizer (i.e. stretch type, transparency). I can't see where I can access DRA (dynamic range adjustment). I'm assuming I will need to do this using the CIM, as I can't see where I can set it using any other python functionality. (Alternate routes to success are welcome!) Can I turn on DRA using the CIM, or using Python? Using ArcGIS Pro 3.1.2.

We have just upgraded to 3.0.3 (from 2.9.5) and are now also experiencing this inability to save files. This thread has gone silent for a few months - fingers crossed this means someone has figured out the solution @Andrew--Johnson do you have any updates? Many thanks.

I've come up with a workaround, in case anyone else has this requirement in the future. Set up your labeling use arcpy.cartography.ConvertLabelsToAnnotation() to create an annotation table use a cursor on the output table to find any entries where STATUS=1 (which means, unplaced label) If there aren't any records where STATUS=1, you're done. Otherwise: Remove the annotation layer from the map Turn back on labeling for all your labeled layers Go back to #1

I am working on some code for automated map generation, migrating an old script from arcpy.mapping to Python 3 and arcpy.mp. The script creates a map showing 1-n points, each individually labeled. My overall approach is to try to label each point individually and if there are no unplaced labels, then the script will be done. If there are unplaced labels, it will then additional strategies such as key numbering, aggregating labels, etc., checking after each to see if there are no more unplaced labels (or until it reaches the end and tells the user to fix it manually.) Here's where I'm having trouble: I can't find where to access some kind of indicator (a boolean? a list of unplaced labels?) to tell the script if there are any unplaced labels. I'm trying to avoid a human having to look at the map to provide feedback to the script that there are still unplaced labels (at which point our computer overlords will have won....) Simply forcing it to draw all the labels even when there are conflicts isn't really a solution I can use either. I could dump out a raster then try some kind of cludgy OCR to look for red but there might be other red things on the map, and let's call that an option of last resort. I'm hoping it's in the CIM somwehere - this seems like something that should be in the CIM - and I just haven't found it yet; I've been looking here: https://github.com/Esri/cim-spec/blob/master/docs/v2/CIMLabelPlacement.md

I'm using a two-step workaround for now: 1. Select 'MGRS' as the output coordinate system and pull out only the '48PUV' part 2. Run again and select 'UTM' as the output coordinate system. The resulting value in the 'UTM' field looks like: 48 N 377299 1483035 Take the final 5 digits of each of the two numbers at the end and append them on to the '48PUV', giving you the MGRS coordinate of: 48PUV7729983035 Buyer beware / test before using / etc. Quick site for comparing coordinates in testing: https://www.movable-type.co.uk/scripts/latlong-utm-mgrs.html

Linda - Thank you so much for this answer - adding a new field, and calculating it to be comprised of some of the date subcomponents together seems to work for me (I'm not the OP). The new field calculation looks a bit like: CONCATENATE(MYDATEFIELD - Year, "-", MYDATEFIELD - Month, "-", MYDATEFIELD - Day of month) and the resulting field values look like: 2021-5-6 However, when you view this column in a summary table, and try to sort it in ascending or descending order, it doesn't sort properly. Here is a sample of values theoretically in ascending order: 2020-10-20 2020-11-25 2020-10-7 2020-10-8 2020-12-8 Have I missed a trick here? Presumably this is not the expected sort order.

According to the marked solution, domains are now supported in Feature Layers in Insights 2020.1. I have not yet tested this. My planned workaround was a database view which combined the original table and domain table as part of the view, so you would see the original code and resulting value as separate fields. I haven't tried it yet, but probably will as I can see other applications of this (really anytime you want to use the table in a way not yet supported by live domain lookups.)

I'm setting up an Operations Dashboard (Enterprise GIS 10.8) and attempting to set up a filter on a map whereby one of the map layers will filter based on a selection from another item in the dashboard. It appears as if I can only filter on layers published with Feature access enabled. (If I needed to filter a 'vector' map layer, I could just modify the service to include Feature access. However, I would like to filter an image service layer.) The filtering capability works in the portal map, so I know the server can see the underlying footprint attributes. I was looking for more details here: https://doc.arcgis.com/en/dashboards/create-and-share/configuring-actions-on-dashboard-elements.htm without luck. Is this possible, and I'm missing something, or is it not possible (and I need to put it in as an enhancement request)?

If it helps, I'm running Pro 2.6 and am experiencing the same issue (with both the python command line, and the interactive Geoprocessing tool). I tried creating the database view in MS SQL Management Studio but then ArcGIS doesn't seem to recognize the OBJECTID so I haven't yet come up with a workaround. The calculations are such that I can't work around needing the divide symbol. Please let us know what you hear back from technical support! UPDATE: I tried it in ArcCatalog 10.8.1, using the interactive approach (right mouse click in the database, new: view) and didn't get the error, and I can see the result successfully now in Pro as well. (It still doesn't like my OBJECTID, but that's a problem for another day.) So it fails in Pro, but succeeds in Map.

Many thanks to Anthony Giles of esri for getting me closer to the solution. On this page: Tutorial: Print a web map and export a vector output PDF document using ArcPy—ArcGIS Server | Documentation for ArcGIS E… 1. I learned that my output parameter line in the code needed to look like this: arcpy.SetParameterAsText(1, outputFile)
and voila! The code works in pro and after republishing and running an HTML file is generated on the hosting server in C:\arcgisserver\directories\arcgisjobs\.......\webtool_output.html However, the output tab of the geoprocessing widget shows nothing. (No errors, but no link to the output either.) 2. From the above link I also learned I had neglected to define the output parameter in the ArcGIS Pro Tool Properties. Even if the user isn't queried to select an output filename, I still needed to define the output file parameter (Data Type: File, type: Derived, Direction: output). Reran, republished, but the output tab is stubbornly blank. 3. From this page: https://community.esri.com/thread/176433 I tried changing the output from derived to required, but it still hasn't fixed the problem.

I need to publish a python-based web tool which will output an html file. I have the code working in ArcGIS Pro (2.6), and can publish it successfully. Everything seems to work except the output is not 'returned' to the user. 1. At the start, to ensure it was working, I set the output to be a standard arcpy.GetParameterAsText(#) and chose an output file interactively. In Pro, the script runs and the file is generated correctly. When published (to a hosting server, 10.8), the script also works as expected but the output is not yet 'returned' to the user. 2. So I modified the script to put the output file in the scratch folder: outputFile = os.path.join(arcpy.env.scratchFolder, "webtool_output.html") This also works in Pro (although I don't see the output), and publishes and runs successfully in a Portal Web App, but the output isn't returned to the user. 3. I found this page: Geoprocessing service to return a file and added arcpy.SetParameter(0, file.name) to the end of my code, but this throws an error in ArcGIS Pro (so won't publish as a service.) 4. It seems like the answer to my question should be found here: Input and output parameters—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation I think I would be able to work it out if I could find a functioning example.

I am familiar with using python to get and/or set a (single) definition query for a map layer. However, in Pro you can specify multiple different definition queries for a single layer (although only one, or none, can be active at any given time). When I use the definitionQuery property of the layer object, I can get, or set, the currently active query. But I would like to be able to create lots of different definition Queries for a given layer using python (and then get / set them using python as well). Is there a way to do this that I'm missing? We are getting around this at the moment by using python to create query expression (EXP) files and then importing them all in one go using the GUI.
