Solved using this fix: Problem: ArcMap crashes during Loading Document launch stage Now I just have to pray it doesn't break anything else (any other programs). Tom

I had ArcMap 10.3.1 (or some 10.3 version) on my machine, and it suddenly stopped working. It would appear to be opening up, and then it would just crash/disappear without warning. I would see this window, and then nothing: It always got to the same "Loading documents...." Step, and then the window would go away. Sometimes it would show up in my task bar (parallels coherence mode) but no usable windows would ever show up. I put up with this for two weeks before I decided to uninstall all 10.3.1 programs (ArcMap, Data Interop, etc), and do a fresh install with 10.4. I am on a one year student trial license, and here we can see everything is fine and active: Also, the exact same problems occur whether I am in Parallels' Coherence, Full Screen or Modality modes. Tom Edit: I have done this: Resetting your ArcGIS application profile renaming the entire folders in my appdata on both my desktop and my laptop, and it doesn't help. Thanks, Tom

I have two rasters, one with thematic data, and the other with continuous data (floats). I am trying to calculate/determine the the range of float values associated with the different classes in my thematic raster. For instance, in my thematic raster, I have a class A. If there are 5 cells in my continuous raster data that overlay thematic cells of class A, and these 5 cell have values of 1.2, 3.7, -4.5, 6.23, -0.8, I would like the end result of my calculation to show: Class A: Range [-4.5 to 6.23]
Class B: .....and so on. Does anyone know of a way to do this? I've been trying to determine if the raster overlay tools in ArcMap can provide this, but I haven't come across a solution yet. I'm hoping to avoid a very complicated equation in the raster calculator. Another way to produce the analysis I am looking for would be to generate a histogram for each thematic class in one raster based on the associated (overlaid) values in another. Is this possible?

Has anyone come across this error when opening up a MXD file? ArcMap had frozen on me right before this, even though no processes were in the middle of running - clicking anywhere triggered no response other than that super annoying "ding!". I was able to close the program by right clicking in the task bar and selecting close, at which point I was asked to save the results of the editing session I was in and also save the MXD file. I did both. And now it can't be opened up. Any ideas on how to fix this? REMOVED as I lost about 10 hours of work (despite saving multiple times) due to this error. Hello, I am working on delineating several watersheds for lakes - and of course the delineations are not perfect. I am new to the Arc hydro tool, so I am learning about the different Sink related tools that might solve this problem. I keep getting errors using the Create Sink Structures tool, and am trying to figure out why that is occurring....but at the same time / in general, I was wondering if anyone had any experience using the NHD Area data set as a means of identifying "sinks" or adding these data sets to either use an edge of as the pour point or using the footprints as a known sink area. Thanks, Tom Taggart

I'd just like to add that I feel it is fine to resample elevation measurements, as long as someone stays away form the nearest neighbor algorithm. With elevation data you always want to choose an algorithm that is appropriate for continuous data (such as bilinear or cubic spline) and never the nearest neighbor. This problem also surface when projecting the data from a GCS - never ever choose nearest neighbor. I can result in added or missing grid cells that will greatly mess with any hydrology analysis. See my question and self answer here for more info: arcgis desktop - What is the source of horizontal and vertical striping in USGS DEMs? - Geographic Information Systems S…

Need complete 10m NED coverage for the entire US. Don't feel like going the bulk download (snail mail shipping) route or piecing together the states. Does anyone have this stored in a manner where they wouldn't mind me retrieving it? Thanks, Tom
