Dear experts, I am installing Geoportal 1.1.1 with Glassfish 2.1.1, and openDS. My environment : Windows Server 2008. I am able to login using various users (gptadmin,gptuser,gptpublisher) correctly BUT whenever i click on links "My Profile", it throws me back to the Login page... Also, It always throws me to Login page whenever i click on link "Administration" (for publisher) and link "Validation" (for user). Also, I can Register a new user from the geoportal web application.. Geoportal 1.1.1 is meant to be for glassfish 3.1, so I edit the "DTD entry" in sun-web.xml to suit glassfish 2.1. I change the value to : "<!DOCTYPE web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.3//EN" "http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-app_2_3.dtd">" Here is my ldap setting in gpt.xml : <ldapAdapter> <ldapConnectionProperties providerURL="ldap://192.168.10.37:2389" initialContextFactoryName="com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapCtxFactory" securityAuthentication="simple" securityProtocol=""> <ldapServiceAccount securityPrincipal="cn=Directory Manager" securityCredentials="Testing1" encrypted="false" catalogAdminDN="cn=gptadmin,ou=users,ou=system,dc=esri_user,dc=sdi,dc=local"/> </ldapConnectionProperties> <singleSignOn active="true" credentialLocation="header.OAM_AUTH_USER" anonymousValue="" logoutOutcome=""/> <selfCareSupport supportsLogin="true" supportsLogout="true" supportsUserRegistration="true" supportsUserProfileManagement="true" supportsPasswordChange="true" supportsPasswordRecovery="true"/> <roles authenticatedUserRequiresRole="true"> <role key="gptRegisteredUser" groupDN="cn=gpt_registeredUsers,ou=groups,ou=system,dc=esri_user,dc=sdi,dc=local"/> <role key="gptPublisher" inherits="gptRegisteredUser" groupDN="cn=gpt_publishers,ou=groups,ou=system,dc=esri_user,dc=sdi,dc=local"/> <role key="gptAdministrator" inherits="gptPublisher" groupDN="cn=gpt_administrators,ou=groups,ou=system,dc=esri_user,dc=sdi,dc=local"/> </roles> <users displayNameAttribute="cn" passwordEncryptionAlgorithm="MD5" newUserDNPattern="cn={0},ou=users,ou=system,dc=esri_user,dc=sdi,dc=local" usernameSearchPattern="(&(objectclass=person)(cn={0}))" searchDIT="ou=users,ou=system,dc=esri_user,dc=sdi,dc=local"> <requiredObjectClasses> <objectClass name="top"/> <objectClass name="person"/> <objectClass name="organizationalPerson"/> <objectClass name="inetOrgPerson"/> </requiredObjectClasses> <userAttributeMap> <attribute key="username" ldapName="uid"/> <attribute key="password" ldapName="userPassword"/> <attribute key="email" ldapName="mail"/> <attribute key="firstName" ldapName="givenName"/> <attribute key="lastName" ldapName="sn"/> <attribute key="organization" ldapName="o"/> <attribute key="affiliation" ldapName="businessCategory"/> <attribute key="street" ldapName="street"/> <attribute key="city" ldapName="l"/> <attribute key="stateOrProv" ldapName="st"/> <attribute key="postalCode" ldapName="postalCode"/> <attribute key="phone" ldapName="telephoneNumber"/> </userAttributeMap> </users> <groups displayNameAttribute="cn" dynamicMemberOfGroupsAttribute="" dynamicMembersAttribute="" memberAttribute="uniquemember" memberSearchPattern="(&(objectclass=groupOfUniqueNames)(uniquemember={0}))" searchDIT="ou=groups,ou=system,dc=esri_user,dc=sdi,dc=local"> <metadataManagementGroup name="gpt_administrators" groupDN="cn=gpt_administrators,ou=groups,ou=system,dc=esri_user,dc=sdi,dc=local"/> <metadataManagementGroup name="gpt_publishers" groupDN="cn=gpt_publishers,ou=groups,ou=system,dc=esri_user,dc=sdi,dc=local"/> <metadataManagementGroup name="gpt_registeredUsers" groupDN="cn=gpt_registeredUsers,ou=groups,ou=system,dc=esri_user,dc=sdi,dc=local"/> </groups> </ldapAdapter> I dont encounter this problem when I use Glassfish 3.1... Whats wrong with my gpt.xml ? or maybe something else is wrong... Any suggestions ? Thanks

Hi, I install Arcgis Portal and Geoportal in the same server. Arcgis Portal works, but Geoportal doesnt. Geoportal gives me error like this : HTTP Status 500 - type Exception report message descriptionThe server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request. exception javax.servlet.ServletException: ServletException in '/catalog/skins/centeredLayout.jsp': com.sun.faces.mgbean.ManagedBeanCreationException: Unable to set property searchCriteria for managed bean SearchController root cause javax.servlet.ServletException: ServletException in '/catalog/main/homeBody.jsp': Unable to set property searchCriteria for managed bean SearchController root cause org.apache.jasper.JasperException: com.sun.faces.mgbean.ManagedBeanCreationException: Unable to set property searchCriteria for managed bean SearchController root cause com.sun.faces.mgbean.ManagedBeanCreationException: Unable to set property searchCriteria for managed bean SearchController root cause com.sun.faces.mgbean.ManagedBeanCreationException: Unable to set property searchFilterUri for managed bean SearchCriteria root cause com.sun.faces.mgbean.ManagedBeanCreationException: Unable to set property selectedHarvestSiteName for managed bean SearchFilterHarvestSites root cause java.lang.NullPointerException I am using Linux RHEL 5.6 64 bit. What I do are: 1. Install the Arcgis Portal (this will automatically install jdk1.6.0_23, Glassfish 2.1.1) 2. Install Geoportal 0.9 My guess is that the Java version isnt compatible... Please help... thanks Note : I actually succeeded in installing Geoportal 1.1 (only Geoportal) in Windows Server 2008. I use jdk-6u26 and Glassfish 3.1 (with openDS in other server).

i got errors "no editable layers and can't edit versioned workspace.check that you have proper permission on the version". The fc is not versioned and i have un-check the version editing.... I log in as the schema owner. And I have followed the guidelines here http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesktop/10.0/help/index.html#/User_permissions_for_geodatabases_in_PostgreSQL/002p00000033000000/ for managing user permission. This happens quite often after I use geoprocessing "Append". First time, second time..i run append, the fc can be edited..after a few times, this error comes up I solve this by copying the data into a new fc and edit this new fc. I want to know why i encounter this error. [Arcgis svr 10, Desktop 10 SP 1, Postgre 8.3.8]

Hi Arne, I just tried your solution. It worked. I added a new tablespace and I was able to load this particular fc. I just don't understand what happened... before I added a new tablespace, i was able to load a fc that has more data than the one i am trying to load, thats why i ruled out your suggestion. Why does the autoextent of tablespace failed ? Its suppose to increase the capacity of the tablespace right ? and also, why the error doesnt tell me that its about tablespace, instead it tells me about incorrect grid size? Anyway, thanks alot. case closed.

Hi, Thanks for replying.... If this is about space, how come i was able to load/import/export other fc with more data than the fc that i was trying to load/import ? I made another fc that contain just the envelope of the fc that i want to load. I used tool "feature class to envelope" and than load/export this. It has more data than the original fc (41000 vs 35000) And by the way, I set the tablespace to unlimited and auto-extend. thanks

Hi all, I have exported a fc, name it FC1, out from a geodb... then i create a new geodb and import it back again (FC1 was the first fc that I import into this new geodb). It was a success. Then I import more fc's into the new geodb. All were successfull. Now, for a reason, I want to import FC1 again into this new geodb. But I just cant do it, only 4% out of 37000 records are successfully imported... Using tool "feature class to feature class" the error is "error 000372 : spatial reference for output is invalid, please update to allow output to become valid" Why ? i have followed the work-out from the help, but the error is still the same. I have recalculated the spatial grid index but the resulting spatial index is always the same as the original spatial index. The only way I am able to import it is when the geodb was new (fresh)... but when the geodb has some fc in it, it just wont be imported. I have tried many ways, using LOAD, using xml, import from shp etc but they all failed. how can i import this particular fc ? many thanks iam using oracle 10gr2 , arcsde 9.3, and desktop 9.3, win 2003 server thanks

Hi all, Iam trying to copy/load featureclass/data from one geodatabase to another (using LOAD or export), then I get an error Start Time: Thu Jan 20 13:15:57 2011 ERROR 000224: Cannot insert features ERROR 000372: Spatial Reference for output is invalid, Please update to allow output to become valid Failed to execute (FeatureClassToFeatureClass). Then i remove all objects that listed in the error message that causing the error. Then copy/load again. Same error comes up. Then from the help, it says "The tool failed while trying to set the spatial grid index(es) for the output." I have done recalculate the grid index by recalculate the spatial index (right click the feature class --> Properties --> Tab Indexes --> Recalculate). Then I try to load it again but the same error message comes up again. How do you fix this ? I was able to Load them before but this time it just failed. I am wondering why i was able to load the data into the new geodb before... 😞 I am using Oracle 10G with SDE 9.3.0 thanks

I solve it by increasing the value in maxPS to 10x higher than the default value.

hi, I am trying to use lockraster to lock to specific image in a service but it doesnt work correctly. That particular image that is locked will show up if i zoom it in to a particular scale... eg: the image shows up if i zoom in to 1:20K and above. below that it is just blank and gives out error : [ServiceCore.ImageService.LoadServiceDefinition] Service Definition Source : \\xxxx\xxxxx\xxxxx\xxxxx.ISDef\ImageService.ISDef [ImageServiceDB.SeRasterItemStore.SelectRasterItems : 008029] Error: No rasters were selected for the selection criteria. Apparently the error tells me that there is no raster for small scale.. is it ? how to overcome this ? i want the locked image to show up in every zoom scale.. Here is the attributes table of footprint for that particular image : MinPS : 0 MaxPS : 7.2 LoPS : 2.4 HiPS : 2.4 thanks guys

thanks for replying Zhang, I forgot to mention that i am using arcgis server 9.3 with image server extension... I just found out that you can pansharpen 2 image services, 1 service for multispectral and 1 for panchromatic, using ArcGIS 10. Use the Image Analysis Tool to pansharpen these 2 services. this cant be done in ArcGIS 9.3.X... Please correct me if iam wrong... thanks

Hi, how do you create a service that can be pansharpened on the fly ? I have succesfully created a pansharpened-image-service (the service itself is already pansharpened) but i am not able to create a service that can be pansharpened. Thankyou 😞
