We recently upgraded our ArcGIS license server to 10.1 After, we received complaints from a client (using the server) that borrowing ArcMap 10.0 license no longer works. Or, more precisely, he wrote that borrowing seems to work, but starting ArcMap after borrowing gets stuck with message "Initializing license..." - i.e. ArcMap won't start, and also returning the license won't succeed. The client had tried with 3 different computers, two of them had ArcGIS 10.0 service pack installed. I am using desktop 10.1, and borrowing works fine for me - returning the license does not succeed, however. We were told by ESRI, that 10.1 license manager should be backwards compatible with 10.0 Does anyone have a clue of what might be the problem? Something went wrong with license manager installation? Or some compatibility problem? Or something else that should be noted? Does anyone else experience the same? Our local ESRI customer service was not able to help.

Hi! Is there an Engine Runtime 10 trial/ evaluation version or free download available (or Engine Developer Kit for Windows 10) ? We're still working with 9.3.1, but I would need a trial version for one ArcGIS 10 workshop.

Hi! How could I cast a Geometry.PictureMarkerSymbol to Mobile.Symbol? I have implemented a custom MapGraphicLayer, which I should add to mobile map GraphicLayers. In the MapGraphicLayer I have tried the following, which does not work: PictureMarkerSymbol picsymbol = new PictureMarkerSymbol(); try { picsymboli.CreateMarkerSymbolFromFile(esriIPictureType.esriIPictureBitmap, "C:\\komppania.bmp"); } catch { } Symbol symbol = (Symbol) pic; // I have also tried cast to ISymbol I've also tried the following PictureMarkerSymbol picsymbol = new PictureMarkerSymbol(); try { picsymbol.CreateMarkerSymbolFromFile(esriIPictureType.esriIPictureBitmap, "C:\\komppania.bmp"); } catch { } Symbol symbol = picsymbol as Symbol; --> For some reason symbol is now null, although picsymbol isn't Also I've tried to draw the picsymbol directly picsymbol.Draw(...), but this hasn't worked either...

I am developing a stand-alone application with Mobile SDK 9.3.1. The application does not use a database. How could I list the values of a certain map layer's attribute (table row values) in my application? I am using a locally stored mapcache. I am able to retrieve the names of the attributes (column names) with the following piece of code: ESRI.ArcGIS.Mobile.MobileServices.FeatureLayer layer = this.mobileService.Layers[0] as ESRI.ArcGIS.Mobile.MobileServices.FeatureLayer; DataTable table = layer.GetDataTable(); foreach (DataColumn column in table.Columns) Debug.WriteLine(column.ToString()); However, I have not been able to get the rows of the columns and their content data with table.Rows. Also, table.Rows.Count returns 0, even though the attribute table does have values (checked with ArcMap), and the corresponding items are displayed on the mobile map. What am I doing wrong?

I am developing a mobile C# solution using ArcGIS Mobile SDK and MOLE (ArcGIS Defence Solutions SDK). The application should use MOLE symbols on top of the mobile map. The location of the symbols changes according to the location of the target. In an Engine application you could add MOLE symbols onto the Map control e.g. like this: m_mapControl.ActiveView.GraphicsContainer.AddEleme nt (element, 0); The elements - i.e. MOLE symbols - are of type IElement. How could I do the same with Mobile SDK? It is using the ESRI.ArcGIS.Mobile.Map object instead of the Engine's Map Control.

Hi! I am a newbie in ArcGIS Server development. I should develop a mobile application with Mobile SDK including visibility and contour analysis functionalities. As far as I understand, the analysis tasks cannot be run locally on the mobile device with the available functions? How should I do this? Is it possible to implement an analysis application with the ArcGIS Desktop (or would it be better to use ArcGIS Engine?) and deploy it to the ArcGIS Server? When the mobile client needs to execute analysis, it'll send a request to the server? Could anyone point me to some relevant reference material/ page? I'd be grateful for any replies!
