I've noticed when I have multiple tables open at once, let's just say say two for example, and Table 1 is set to Show Selected Records, then whenever I modify* the selection in the Table 2, Table 1 automatically refreshes and resets back to the top. This is quite frustrating, as constantly lose my place in Table 1 and have to scroll back to where I was. *By modify the selection, I mean any sort of clicking on rows in Table 2, or by clicking the buttons for "Clear" or "Switch" selection. The only unaffected method I can tell: Modifying the selection of Table 2 using Select by Attributes does not seem to cause this automatic refresh of the Table 1. Would be nice if this behavior would be fixed/prevented. Or perhaps there's some option I don't know of, where I can toggle to prevent the table refresh/reset? Any ideas? Otherwise I suppose a workaround is to make a new layer from my selection in Table 1, and then I could open that layer's table and Show All Records, instead of Show Selected Records.

I'm currently experiencing the same issue or very similar. Whenever I press the CTRL, or the windows key, my map begins to repeatedly refresh and pan up. OP was able to resolve the issue by removing the normal.mxt file, but this solution is not working for me.

Thanks for your reply, @Scott_Harris. I updated to 3.1 just now, didn't seem to fix it immediately. However I tried messing with it some more, and was able to get it working. I tried setting the accelerator to Alt+Shift+F, which worked. Then I changed it back to Alt+F again and this also worked. Unclear what was the hangup before, but at least it's behaving properly now.

I cannot get a line sketch to Reverse Direction using an accelerator. I have assigned Alt+F, and the assigned shortcut even shows up in the right-click context menu (highlighted below), but it just doesn't seem to work. Am I missing something? Anyone else had this issue?

Hope this makes some sense. Bear with me as I try to explain... At one point I assigned a custom accelerator in ArcGIS Pro so that Alt+W would activate the Reshape tool. When I went to use this recently, it seemed the behavior had changed from before. I figured perhaps there was a software update between then and now that changed or upgraded something. Anyways, rather than activating Reshape, the new behavior of my Alt+W shortcut was to bring up the following "Selector" command box (I believe this is the proper term) near the selected shape. I didn't hate this new behavior, but I wanted to see if I could get it back to how I originally intended, to activate Reshape. I checked the Customize the Ribbon menu, and I found this item (screenshot below) assigned Alt+W. I believe the little arrow in the command list is what indicates it's a "Selector" command. The yellow area in this screenshot doesn't show the "Alt+W", but trust me, it was there before, albeit greyed out. According to the documentation (see https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/get-started/customize-the-ribbon.htm) Selector commands aren't supposed to be assignable to accelerators, and indeed the Assign box is greyed out when Reshape Selector command is highlighted. Maybe through a fluke of a software update, my custom Alt+W Reshape accelerator got relinked somehow from the Reshape tool to this Reshape Selector command, despite this normally being not allowed. So the assign option being grey meant I could not click to "reset" this assignment, but I was able to remove/overwrite it by assigning Alt+W to something else. I changed it back to the normal Reshape tool I used in the past. (Hence why it's gone in the yellow-highlighted area in my screenshot above) But the thing is... when I re-assigned and overwrote that command, I believed I would have the option of setting Alt+W back again to this Reshape Selector command box if I wanted. This was before I learned what Selector commands actually were, and that they were not actually allowed as accelerators. Some users in my organization might prefer this Selector command menu to pop up using a shortcut, but alas, the assign option is still grey, and there seems to be no way of getting the accelerator tied back to this Selector command again. Is there any chance I can still do this somehow?

Hi Dave, I've encountered the same behavior with the tool, and was also perplexed. I felt the tool was supposed to be keeping the portion which was BIGGER (ie area). But then I discovered the truth... (someone correct me if I don't have this quite right) The "rule" behind which polygon portion is kept after a Reshape has to do with the PERIMETER LENGTH of the original shape. The portion that is kept is the portion bearing the largest amount, ie length, of the original perimeter. This is why the skinny "L" shape is being kept, rather than the larger rectangle you hope for. The solution? Take smaller "bites". One reshape could chop off just the top of the skinny "L" shape. A second reshape could then remove the remaining side piece. Hope this helps to clarify the tool behavior and get you better results. And if you're not already familiar... I'm finding the Replace Geometry is sometimes faster than Reshape, when I want to take a rather large shape down to something relatively small. Rather than using Reshape to take several "bites" out of the original shape, Replace Geometry lets you draw all new geometry in one go, with no relation to the original geometry. Works good for redrawing lines and repositioning point features too!

Forgive me Joe. The title of my post suggests I'm looking to do what '&' does in vb, but my question is actually asking about replicating the '+' behavior from vb, in contrast to '&'.

Thanks for your reply and example Joshua! I knew (I think mainly from pro training vids) that VBScript is out and Arcade is in, but I'm too naive to feel ways about it, haha. Since you mention it, I guess it does kinda suck that they went and created a something proprietary. Now I'm wondering how worthwhile it is to work on updating my label expressions in Arcade in the first place. Perhaps I should try to use Python more instead.

My question is at the end of the post, but first I will give an example of the behavior I'm trying to replicate... When writing a label expression in VBScript, I sometimes take advantage of the difference between '+' and '&' when concatenating attributes and text. For example, lets say I'm labeling sewer pipes. I could write the following expression: [LENGTH] & " ft. " & [DIAMETER] & "-inch " & [MATERIAL] & " @ " & [SLOPE] & "%" And assuming the attributes are fully populated, the label might look like this: 50 ft. 12-inch PVC @ 2.5% But sometimes we don't have all the information. If an attribute is missing (let's say the slope), the bits of text supporting it, "@" and "%", would still be hanging there: 50 ft. 12-inch PVC @ % We likely don't want that to happen. By tying two or more elements together with '+' instead of '&', any element tied to a null value will be ignored. Consider the following modified example: [LENGTH] + " ft. " & [DIAMETER] + "-inch " & [MATERIAL] & " @ " + [SLOPE] + "%" Now if the slope attribute was null, the "@" and "%" would be left out like this: 50 ft. 12-inch PVC If just the length was null: 12-inch PVC @ 2.5% If the diameter and material were null: 50 ft. @ 2.5% You see we have a fairly flexible expression. Finally, if you were to use only '+' operators, and no '&'... [LENGTH] + " ft. " + [DIAMETER] + "-inch " + [MATERIAL] + " @ " + [SLOPE] + "%" ...Then whenever any attribute is missing, the entire label will be left out. The effect can be a useful visual cue. A pipe's label would be missing entirely until every attribute needed for the label had been populated. Finally, my question... In Arcade label expressions, it seems that '+' behaves the same way '&' does in VBScript. Is there a similar easy way to achieve the behavior I've described of the VBScript '+' using Arcade, without to having check for nulls using IsEmpty? Thanks!!
