Hello, I work at a food bank and we refer the community that we work with to a social service department in our city that has multiple locations in the city. I would like to create a mapping application where I have the ability to enter one of our community member's addresses and it will return the nearest social service department to their home or work. This is a small, but important aspect of our work. I will be using ArcGIS online since our organization doesn't have any Esri products yet. How should I go about creating this? I know that I may need a shape file of the city boundaries, markers to denote the social service department locations and the ability to search using someone's address. It's been a while since I have used ArcMap or ArcGIS Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi, I am not sure how to share my .slpk file in ArcGIS Pro to make it a hosted scene layer package file on ArcGIS Online. I have shared it as a project, map, layer, web layer, map file, layer file, project template, etc. but they all do not give me a hosted scene layer package file. I am not sure if I have permission to do it with my account or if I am overlooking which file I need to share it as.

Thank you for your reply. I have exported my CityEngine model into a scene player package file. I then uploaded it to ArcGIS Online. However, it does not give me the option to publish it as a hosted layer. I am not at my university now, but I will go tomorrow to go through the steps outlined for ArcGIS Pro (I found out that we do indeed have it at my university).

Hello, I created a 3D scene in CityEngine, but I am not sure how to get the id so that I can enter it into this sample code: https://developers.arcgis.com/javascript/latest/sample-code/sandbox/index.html?sample=visualization-point-styles I don't have ArcGIS Pro. I have CityEngine and ArcMap and ArcGIS Online.

Hello, I am wanting to create a 3D scene using this code: Point styles for cities | ArcGIS API for JavaScript 4.11 I currently have a 3D scene created with CityEngine: http://bit.ly/2OfEE0w I know that my workflow should include me creating a feature layer for the buildings, but my file is a multipatch and I am not sure how I can separate my 3D multipatch (that is currently one layer for the entire scene) in order to create individual buildings so that I can label the building names and such. I have attached my .kmz file that I used in ArcMap (after converting it to a layer). Please advise on how I should proceed. Thank you,

I am applying for a grant to create an interactive 3D model of a campus that will have interactive icons. I will be using CityEngine to create the buildings and landscape and I will be using Unity to code the interactive icons. I am looking for information on the best computers (preferably a laptop, but I am open) to use to complete my project. The machine will need to be efficient at giving a great quality for both programs. Here are my main questions that I have after reading feedback from similar questions: Is a iMac Pro (latest) sufficient for the entirety of my project? Would I need a custom build or would one machine be enough? Right now, I am just creating a campus and I can add on for professional use in the future. Thank you, Tamelonie

Thank you for the answers to my questions! Now, I have questions about the Building Mass Texturizer (there is a Youtube video on it, but the description says to stay tuned for updated versions, so I am patiently waiting). I am trying to texture the buildings in this simplistic style, everything is red/brown brick while the upper floors of some buildings have a tan brick color. I am using my Buidings From Open Street Map file in the Building Mass Texturizer. I am thinking that all I need to do is create a new style and give it these textures (along with window textures), but I am unsure what fields I need to input to assign it these rules. I have looked at the tutorials, but I get confused on steps because I already have my building info such as height and floors, I think all I need to do is change the textures. Here is a link to the Building Mass Texturizer cga, at the bottom you can see my attempt at creating a style, I know I will need to redo this portion as it is not assigned anything. cga (1) - Google Docs Thank you, Tamelonie

(I am completely new to CityEngine and 3D modeling) I have CityEngine version 2017.1 and I am looking to replicate a college campus in cityengine; 3d. I used the Get Map Data feature to get the building footprints and road data. I then generated the 3D model. Here are some questions that I have: There are over 100 buildings on campus, would I need to create over 100 CGA files for each? Many of the buildings will have a similar texture (red and tan brick), but they will of course have different structures like the windows and the shape/size of the buildings. I used the Get Map Data feature to get the building footprints from OSM. How do I access the building footprints data in order to create a texture name attribute? Or is this something that the footprints file will either have or not have? I have read and understood that it's best if I use the Attribute Connection Tool to connect the CGA and footprints texture name attribute. I need to alter the shape of some buildings, how do I do this with CGA? Are there any resources on being a beginner and writing cga? I have looked a the tutorials and the Youtube videos, but I am a complete beginner and totally unfamiliar with the semantics of the program. Please let me know the most efficient way to complete this replication that you know of. The level of detail is not to be super realistic, but it needs to be recognizable. Thank you in advance,
