I am working with several layers including parcels, and the standard township, section, quarter, quarter-quarter layers. When creating new features, say a parcel, I read from survey notes and draw from the legal descriptions. I have noticed that my inputs as feet get converted to meters. Is there a way to change this? Also, my measurements are not adding up like they should. For example, a description will read go N 100 feet to North line of SE 1/4. My "100 foot" line does not intersect with that line. Therefore all my drawing are off. Is this a projection error? I checked all layers and all seem to match projection system, projection, and all the stats like meridian, easting, northing, latitude of origin, and linear unit. If anyone could direct me to the right path to get my data back in line that would be much appreciated! This is the data for all layers (parcels, sections, quarters, and quarter-quarters)

SDE can for sure be complex and I am just learning (or trying to learn) about it. 1. I do have all right or access to the SDE files yes. (I stepped into a role that the previous GIS Coordinator set this structure up.) 2. The SDE is tied to SQL server. 3. I am using ArcGIS 10.5

I am working with SDE data running from server. I am trying to do basic edits like polygon manipulation, attribute maintenance, land cover layer edits, etc. When I try to start an edit session I always get an error based off edits with the database. I am pretty new at idea of versioning, locks, and so on and cannot figure out process to make these edits work properly and than save my data. I have tried "Registering as Versioned" and hasn't helped or not sure how to go about locks on data. Any help, tips, or advice on this subject or a walk through regarding SDE data, versioning, edits would be much appreciated.

Worked perfectly that time. I just saved as layer file and added into my previous arcmap project! Thank you.

It is just a standard road (line) layer. I won't be able to send the data itself. I believe it has something to do with work environments and the output not matching those perimeters.

I have done just that, several time. Line feature as input, point (intersection) feature as output. Results are always "empty output".

Simple concept: using the intersect tool to display the intersections of inputs. In my case I am trying to show all the intersection POINTS from a LINE feature (It is a road layer and I need to find all the intersections of these roads!) I have ran the tool several time and each time it returns an empty output. I believe it has something to do with "Work Environment" but not exactly what option to double check or change. Any clues would be awesome, thank you!

I found three DEM's for this area, but I am not sure for spatial resolution of each. The ditch is about 25 feet across at the water and about 65 feet wide up on the top of banks. I unfortunately don't have data for the ditch with and without fill so it will be difficult to calculate the difference using the method you are suggesting.

I initially did not see any options for contour labeling but that makes sense! In the labeling manager, after selecting the feature to label, I had to select style and the properties tab in there. On the bottom I needed to change feature style from point to line, that is where I was getting confused. It defaults back to point each time however and not sure if my changes are being applied. Thanks for the help!

I have created multi-ring buffers around a feature and now come to labeling I am having issues. I would like to organize my labels all lined up (or stacked) orderly all reading the same direction. I can't configure the options in a certain way to display the labels straight north from the feature, on the line. Any suggestions on labeling?

I am using ArcMap 10.5 and have data that includes aerial imagery, DEMs, rough construction measurements, and a variety of other data layers that I can use. And yes I have the Spatial Analyst extension.

I unfortunately do not have 3D analyst on my current setup, although I do wish I did! I know this process would be much easier to visual with ability to express my data 3D. Is there any other way to even get estimates for this sort of calculation?

Hey all! I have a technical question regarding some spatial analysis. It may be easy asnwer but for whatever reason I can't think of a solution. So I have a ditch system (water canal that drains from fields). I need to be able to measure the depth of ditch, depth of water, and volume of sediment underneath. Basically they are going to redo the entire ditch and construction needs to know if I can estimate the volume of dirt and sediment that will need to be moved. Any answers, short or long would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I recently started a GIS position in which the previous employee set up all the data on SDE files. These are somewhat Greek to me and need help now enabling the files for editing. How do I take these .sde files that have been established before, turn on admin permissions, and use the data inside? When I connect to the database I can't see any data. Any and all help or hints regarding SDE would be much appreciated. Any SDE reference guides too?
