Will ArcObjects SDK for .NET 10.7 or later support .NET Framework 5.0? Since .NET Framework 5.0 is essentially .NET Core 3.0, will ArcObjects SDK .NET support it? Will future versions support it? I can only assume that the answer is "No", but wanted to ask anyway. Thanks!

Thanks Rich! That's what I thought and calling a python process was the solution I was thinking about using.

So, I am trying to create a standalone app with the Pro SDK to run a geoprocessing tool (Register with Geodatabase). First of all, I call ArcGIS.Desktop.Core.Geoprocessing.Geoprocessing.MakeValueArray(object[] args) This call fails with "System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object". I've debugged this to the FindModule function in ArcGIS.Desktop.Framework.Contracts.Module and it comes down to the code: if (FrameworkApplication._this == null)
return (ArcGIS.Desktop.Framework.Contracts.Module) null; Which is always true in my standalone application. I guess that this means that MakeValueArray() does not work in standalone mode? Or can I create my own FrameworkApplication without starting ArcGIS Pro?

Hi! We've seen this issue with a few customer (I'm swedish tech support). The solution for us has been to use Ago Assistant to edit the json data of the web map and manually add the new layers in the json data of the web map. The problem might have something to do with popups being enabled or not, but we haven't had the time or opportunity to do extensive testing to verify this, or why this problem occurs. Easiest when modifying the json would be to copy any of the already existing layers in the json and paste it at the end of the array and remove as much popup info as possible (I think we made it empty) and change the id. Esri support should be able to help, but let me know if you need some assistance.

Hi Gabriel, I have seen a few cases this week, and last week, where this issue has occured, and have experienced it myself. The last thing I did yesterday was to clear my browser cache in Chrome, and that seem to make the issue go away, at least for now. Haven't seen this issue in Microsoft Edge (but didn't do a lot of testing), but that browser have perhaps other issues.

Hi Arne, One option could be to use a modified version of the resource proxy: https://github.com/sverkerEsriSE/resource-proxy-tokens There might also be other usable proxies, like Apache with some proxy module and a bit of rewriting the resource URL:s, or MapProxy perhaps. We have used the proxy I linked to above with success when using it on some Swedish services with Http Basic Authentication (which is the reason it was modified). Best regards, Sverker

This idea is really a copy of enhancement request NIM085436: Currently Web Maps refer hosted feature services through static rest requests in the JSON. When a hosted feature service is republished with more layers or layers in a different order, the web maps does not update to reflect the changes. This results in the web maps referring to incorrect layers when a hosted feature service is overwritten if the layers have shifted. For an example, please refer to the video in the data path. Please create functionality to have the webmaps update as the hosted feature service is overwritten. This behavior also exists with regular map services being brought into AGOL and Portal via REST URL In addition, it would be nice if the layer in the web map had an option to set, like "get new layers automatically from service" or something like that, so you could choose which web maps should stay as they are, even when the underlying layers are updated, and which maps should automatically reflect changes in the underlying layers. And/or a button to press to update layers from the underlying services. Perhaps also an option to choose whether symobology should be replaced with the symobology from the map service when an updated to the underlying service is detected. Or that it automatically detects wheter you have customized the symbology or not. Popups should not be affected on layers where they have been configured when an automatic update is performed. A workaround for now is to use AGO Assistant and manually add the layer in the web maps JSON-data, but this is cumbersome for most people. You could probably also remove the feature service and then add it again to the map, but this requires reconfiguring symobology (maybe) and popups. Quick Update: I've written a short guide to update the layers in the web map's JSON data. Please be careful and make a backup. I do not take responsibility for corrupted or destroyed web maps, neither does anyone else. Guide is attached.

Hi! Just wanted to shed some light on a problem I have encountered from two different customers (I work at Esri Sweden tech support). The problem: When starting ArcMap it will, if it is authorized, stop att "Initializing license". When starting ArcGIS Administrator (Single Use) it will freeze when going to the Desktop -> Availability tab/folder. If running Concurrent Use, it will freeze this way also when trying to Borrow a license or contacting the license server / changing the license server. The cause of the problem: The cause of the problem is that a lot of strange registry keys have been created under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, and if you look in Process Monitor at the process Arcmap.exe or ArcGISadmin.exe when they are frozen, you will see the process looping through the registry keys at the first entries after all the ".fileext" keys (i.e. usually after the .zip registry key) of HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. In our latest case, there were a few hundres of keys there that started with AccClientDocMgr.XXXXXX where XXXXXX seems to be various values from other registry keys below AccClientDocMgr. So if the registry looks like this: HKCR\AccClientDocMgr.AccClientDocMgr HKCR\Access.ACCDAExtension HKCR\Access.ACCDCFile etc.. In a computer with the problem, it would look like: HKCR\AccClientDocMgr.AccClientDocMgr HKCR\AccClientDocMgr.ACCDAExtension HKCR\AccClientDocMgr.ACCDCFile etc... So someway the value after the dot under the HKCR has been duplicated and put as new keys with the prefix of the first key (AccClientDocMgr). Also, searching for the UUID listed in the subkey CLSID would not return any result in the registry. The solution: Deleting all keys starting with AccClientDocMgr, or whatever they might start with in case you encounter similar problem - might not always be AccClientDocMgr, under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. This is best done with some special software or powershell-script like this, replacing AccTest with the prefix that is relevant to your problem. ALWAYS BACKUP THE REGISTRY BEFORE RUNNING THIS SCRIPT New-PSDrive -Name HKCR -PSProvider Registry -Root HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
Get-ChildItem -Path HKCR:\AccTest* | foreach ($_) { If ($_.PsDrive) { Remove-Item -Path "$($_.PSDrive):\$($_.PSChildName)" -Recurse }} Has anyone encountered this, and perhaps know the cause?

Hi, One of our customers are asking if it is possible to connect a certain attachment (photo) with the question. I assume that they have multiple image fields in the survey and the text for the image field is a question. Like: Please take a photo of yourself [image field] Please take a photo of your colleague [image field] However, when reviewing the answers to the survey, they will not be able to tell which photo was uploaded to the field with the text "Please take a photo of your self" and which was uploaded to the other image field in the survey. My recommendation was to design the survey in a way so that it would be clear which photo is which (i.e. "Take a photo of yourself with one finger in the air" and "Take a photo of your colleague with two fingers in the air"). Are there any plans for custom image naming, or naming the image based on the field order or something similar? Note: the examples above are just fictional, I don't know what the customer are using this multiple image fields for.
