I would like to offer the GIS Fundamentals Foundation to my high school students. Before doing so, I want to make sure they can fit it in before the semester ends. I've called Pearson VUE and the Integrated Digital Technologies Corp. testing center in Glendale, but neither place could tell me if the exams are on a set schedule or if the test taker is able to pick the date and time (depending on available space) of the test. I don't want to pay for a test only to find out it won't be offered during a time that a HS student could take it before school ends. Can you shed any light on this?

I am very sad the spyglass web app has gone away. Is there any chance that will come back? Is there a secret place to find it still? It was great to use with k12 science classes for looking at sea level rise. Dominique

I want to publish a 3D map of the Perseverance landing site as a web scene, but I get an error message saying unsupported spatial reference for my DEM layer of the Jezero Crater. The layer is in the Geographic Coordinate System GCS Mars, the Equirectangular Mars projected coordinate system and uses the equidistant cylindrical projection. I thought maybe if I changed GCS Mars to Mars 2000 (Sphere) that would solve the problem, but I couldn't get it to change over. Any advice on how to publish a 3D map of Mars to a web scene would be appreciated.

A CTE GIS program gives students a competitive edge. For those who do internships, I have seen them employed right out of high school. For students who have aspirations other than a GIS specific job, GIS is an added skill that makes them a more valuable employee in just about any of the 15 industry sectors. When students write about their GIS projects on a college application, its something that sets them apart, and colleges take notice. When Princeton interviewed one of my students, it was her GIS experience that they were most interested in. Completing a CTE GIS program opens doors to a wide range of opportunities. Many employers have higher education requirements for employment, and/or the pay scale is reflective of the education level attained by the candidate. One option for GIS students could be to go straight into the workforce, then do an evening or online degree program to further their education and skill level. There are even employers out there that will pay for their employee's education. Having a certificate or degree in GIS does pull more weight when initially applying for the job initially, whether it's required or not. This is where internships are most helpful.

A few years back at the Ed Summit, a plenary presentation was given by a young woman who got the girl scouts to stop using palm oil in cookies. Anyone know where I can find the video of her presentation? #Education #EdSummit #GirlScouts #PalmOil

I would like to create a dashboard format web app like what was shown in the Ed Summit. Can anyone please help me with that? I'm having trouble formatting widgets. I can't see how to let participants place a pin to their location, how to let students add a picture, how to make a one-question poll. There used to be a beta app that was very user friendly. I had students use a location pin and upload a picture. Even the crowdsource app is not intuitive# on how to do this.

I have a student who gets an error message when he tries to launch ArcGIS Pro saying he has taken it offline. When I go into my licenses, I cannot change his status. I found help here: Problem: Unable to return an offline ArcGIS Pro Named User License but the instructions don't work because he can't open Pro to get to the point where he can change anything. How can I as an administrator change his status back to online? I do have the button on that says don't allow students to take Pro offline, but he must have tried that before I had that feature enabled. Dominique Clark Magnet High School

To help me with the end of the year management, I create usernames that end in the year the students graduate. I teach GIS in all my subjects, so I don't want to delete an account prematurely. I haven't used GeoJobe or scripting to clear accounts because I often go through and change ownership of certain maps or apps I want to keep. This is very time consuming, so much that I was only able to get through half of the students from last year. What take so much time is removing licensing and managing items that are delete protected. Another big problem I'm having is activating the license for Desktop 10.5.1. It is so easy to do in the Org with Pro, but I need Desktop to run Hazus-MH. I look forward to the Thursday presentation. Best, Dom #t3g 2015 alum

There is a crowdsource template, but I haven't had much luck with it. It only seems to work with the default light grey basemap. If you change the basemap, it will work for a short while, then won't show the map anymore. I tried crowdsourcing Darwin's sightings in the Galapagos portion of the Voyage of the Beagle, but it died every time: http://arcg.is/2ozZIU1 http://arcg.is/2oSDYn6 http://arcg.is/2oldkQC I did finally get just a plain map to hold some data: http://arcg.is/2p3KpDZ

If the student is still active at the school, just leave the account alone, nothing will change. If the student leaves and you want to keep some or all of their files, as an admin, you can go into their account and change ownership of their data. Under the Actions column go to manage items. There you can delete or change owner by checking the box next to the data. If the student has delete protected their work, I've been able to transfer ownership of the files, then I can delete the member after I clear their account. This is tedious to do. I'm hoping to learn more about GeoJobe for management.
