Hi Jan, Yes, is the answer (supposedly) but, since the beginning of the year, there have been numerous known issues between AGOL and Power BI that haven't been resolved and now, most of the community has gone over to MapBox, which handles this sought of common Power BI application nicely. If you do find a solution, please post back here.

I could be wrong but, if you put something in the "Location" well the login will appear as per below. Hope this helps.

Hi Alex, This topic covered a similar issue. https://community.esri.com/thread/220651-how-do-you-create-a-hosted-feature-layer-for-power-bi If you scroll to the bottom of the discussion, it indicates how to sign in using the ArcGIS account rather than the Power BI account. Hope this helps.

Sadly, no change. This is a screen print of the reference layer as saved in the "Visualisation" section. This is how it appears in Power BI

Hi Christoph, the good news is you've done nothing wrong. The bad news is this is a known issue and there is no indication of when it will be resolved. There are alternatives, if you would like to PM me I'll let you know what your options are.

Hi Rick, Do you have an ArcGIS for Power BI Plus license or an ArcGIS Online (AGOL) Creators License? The bad news is that you need an AGOL Creators license to create Hosted Reference Layers for Power BI. Good news is if you have an AGOL license its a painless process after that... as long as you are keeping it simple. I've been able to create a reference layer in Power BI by uploading a CSV file containing store name, Lat and Long into AGOL. However, although colour coding transferred through to the visual, the point labels (store name) did not. I hope this helps.

Hi Letitia King-Branch, I don't think this is possible in Power BI. However, there are workarounds which will approximate what you are looking to achieve. I have a model where I locate stores in a radius of a statistical region. I achieve this by creating Lat/Long coordinates for stores and Lat/Long coordinates for the region using the centroid location. I then use Dax to show the stores within a distance of the region which can be represented on an ArcGIS map using the filtered stores as points. I've also created a Hosted Feature Layer of the regions which I use as a background to the point layer. I have seen an Analysis feature in AGOL that creates this. you can save it as a feature layer under your point layer... this may be closer to what you are after but, Power BI is limited to filtering only the top layer (be it a point or area layer) of the visual.

I believe this is possible in Tableau. Why not in Power BI?

Hi, I've got a list of 4 or 5 problems with ArcGIS for Power BI and was wondering who I could talk to see if it's just me with the problem (and hopefully easily rectified) or its a system issue.

Hi there, I create Power BI Reports which contain the ESRI map visuals and after development, I then hand over to clients. How do I allow the client's admin and consumer access to the feature layers I've created under my organisation?

Thanks Josh, The part that I was missing or misunderstood was the requirement to sign in with your AGOL credentials in the ArcGIS/Power BI visual. It works as advertised, once you are signed in. The picture below explains the different points for sign in.
