Dear all my goal is to create a map showing the occurrence of shifting cultivation (a type of farming). The final product should be binary (i.e. 1 = Shifting Cultivation Yes, 0 = No). I have training data (in the same area where my raster data is located) that already has the binary information (1 or 0) and different explanatory variables (raster-datasets). So far I have been using the forest based classification and regression tool but I am stuck on an error (not enough variability within an explanatory raster). Is there a solution that the rasters (which seem to have too little variability for the function) can be adjusted so that this function can still be performed? If not, is there an alternative classification method? FYI: I am not working with spectral information, but with raster data that has been calculated based on spectral information, then morphed into binary data and finally Landscape Metrics (shannon div. index, etc.) have been calculated on top of it. I need these rasters (my independent variables) to calculate the final map. Do you have any idea how to classify this? Thank you

Hello I have been using the "Forest-based classification and regression" tool and I am stuck on an error (not enough variability). I run this tool using polygon dataset with 0 or 1 value (categorical) as training feature and raster files. I cannot find the origin of this problem. What is meant by not enough Variability? Description At least one field in the Explanatory Training Variables parameter contains records, and at least 95 percent of those records have the same value. More variability in the values is required. Solution Determine which field has many of the same values, and either remove the field or alter the values to provide more variability. The print screen shows the histogram of the raster which has not enough variability - as we can see: not 95% of the records have the same value. What can I do here? Do you have any ideas how to solve it? Thanks

Hi Jenora, Thanks for your answer. All the rasters and the trainingdata have the same projection. What do you mean with pending edits? I have saved every raster... Currently I have the problem that arcgis stops working everytime I try to run the forest based classification and regression tool. Does my computer not have enough capacity for the tool, or what could be the reason for this? Thanks in advance. Stephen

Hello, I have been using the "Forest-based classification and regression" tool and I am stuck on an error. I run this tool using a point dataset with 0 or 1 value (categorical) as training feature and around 4-5 raster files. I cannot find the origin of this problem. Do you have any ideas how to solve it? Thanks Stephen

Hi Alexandre I´ve got the same issue. Only difference, I am using a polygon dataset as training data (also with 0 or 1 values) - is that a problem? I cannot understand the origin of this problem either...

Dear all I would like to calculate the largest patch index (LPI) and the interspersion index. Are there any tools (plug ins / scripts / ...) for ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap 10.8? Many thanks for your support and your answers! Stephen

Dear Mervyn Thank you very much for your answer. I have taken into account your two advises for the calculation. Now the following has happened: with a small processing extent, the tool has worked. But with the whole grid I got the message > memory error (see picture below). Do you know what this could be? (I still have over 100GB on my hard disk, but maybe it's the cash memory or the RAM?) Thanks for your support Stephen

Thanks for your answer! I changed the output raster file name but the Diversity Tool did not work. Is there an alternative?

Dear all I would like to use the shanon diversity index to calculate the diversity (number of years) of cleared areas as an indicator for shifting cultivation. I'm working with ArcGIS Pro. I've downloaded this Diversity Tool and tried to run it. Unfortunately, it didn't work. Can someone explain to me why it failed to work? Would there be other alternatives to calculate the shanon diversity index in ArcGIS Pro? Below you see the raster information of the input data. Thanks for your support! Stephen
