What Esri software (desktop, scene, city engine, arc globe) can open and support .a3d, .s3c, and Asc files? If so how do I open them? If not does anyone know of a GIS software that can view support editing to these files.

I have taken a country and split the vector data for this country into 1 degree by 1 degree cells (tie edge between two cells) and now I need to combine the different data cells back together. I use to do this manually ex... I have roads snapped together meeting along the tie edge but are no longer one road (merged) because I have to split the data apart. I use to go a long the tie edge and manually select the two road segments and merge them back together. What I am wanting to know is there an automated process that can merge data back together that is snapped at a tie edge. I need to do this for lines and polygons Thank you for any help or ideas.

According to some blogs I have read the snap tool is located in the editing tools tool box located under arc tools. How ever my editing tools tool box does not have the next to it and therefore I am unable to use this feature. Is there a specific extinction than needs to be turned on to get this tool box working, or is there another way to access this tool? Thanks for any and all help that you have to offer

I am trying to use source_layers to update layers in a different mxd. The layers I am wanting to update are Rivers_1, Rivers_2, Rivers_3, Roads_1, Roads_2, Roads_3, and Buildings_1, Buildings_2, Buildings_3. The previous layers are in the mxd called final project. The source layers I am using for the update are River, Roads, Buildings, these layers are from the source.gdb I have included the following script I used and the error I am getting. What I am trying to do is use the smybology from the source layers to replace the symbology for the layers in the final project mxd. import arcpy mxd = arcpy.mapping.MapDocument (r"D:\GIS_6340_Customization\starbuck.j\Final Project\final project.mxd") df = arcpy.mapping.ListDataFrames (mxd, "final project") updateLayer = arcpy.mapping.ListLayers (mxd, "River_1", df) updateLayer = arcpy.mapping.ListLayers (mxd, "River_2", df) updateLayer = arcpy.mapping.ListLayers (mxd, "River_3", df) updateLayer = arcpy.mapping.ListLayers (mxd, "Roads_1", df) updateLayer = arcpy.mapping.ListLayers (mxd, "Roads_2", df) updateLayer = arcpy.mapping.ListLayers (mxd, "Buildings_1", df) updateLauer = arcpy.mapping.ListLayers (mxd, "Buildings_2", df) updateLayer = arcpy.mapping.ListLayers (mxd, "Buildings_3", df) sourceLayer = arcpy.mapping.Layer (r"D:\GIS_6340_Customization\starbuck.j\Final Project\Source.mxd\River.lyr") sourcrLayer = arcpy.mapping.Layer (r"D:\GIS_6340_Customization\starbuck.j\Final Project\Source.mxd\Road.lyr") sourceLayer = arcpy.mapping.Layer (r"D:\GIS_6340_Customization\starbuck.j\Final Project\Source.mxd\Buildings.lyr") arcpy.mapping.UpdateLayer (df, updateLayer, sourceLayer, True) mxd.saveACopy (r"D:\GIS_6340_Customization\starbuck.j\Final Project\Revised.mxd") Error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "D:\GIS_6340_Customization\starbuck.j\Final Project\Symbology.py", line 12, in <module> sourceLayer = arcpy.mapping.Layer (r"D:\GIS_6340_Customization\starbuck.j\Final Project\Source.mxd\River.lyr") File "D:\Desktop10.0\ArcPy\arcpy\arcobjects\mixins.py", line 256, in __init__ super(LayerMixin, self).__init__(lyrfile) File "D:\Desktop10.0\ArcPy\arcpy\arcobjects\_base.py", line 47, in __init__ for arg in args)) ValueError: Object: CreateObject Layer invalid data source

If I am working with an MXD that has multiple river layers and each layer has different symbology ex color, and line thickness. Is there a way to use python script to change all the river layers to have the same symbology. I want to be able to change all the layers symbology at the same time with out having to go into the properties of each layer and making the changes there. Can I use a reference MXD with the symbology I want and through python use the reference layer to update the other layers symbology?
