I have a stand alone ArcGIS Server and am using python urllib to hit arcgis/admin functions. What is a working URI for adding a new report using ./arcgis/admin/usagereports/add? I can't seem to get it to insert via a urlopen().

I am trying to automate the creation of server volume reports for various ArcGIS servers in my organization. I have been playing with the Server.ReportManager object in the ArcGIS Py3 libraries, but it seems to require a Federated Portal before it will function. Am I missing something? Do I need to switch over to the ArcPy Py2 libraries or to the REST API in order to query any ArcGIS server, federated or not?

The move was fairly rough the latest version of AGO Admin from github would have helped. But we got it done, albeit with a lot of manual work.

We never figured this out. The Portal machine was upgraded to 10.3.1 and we configured it to support both HTTP and HTTPS.

I am in the process of moving an Enterprise Portal with a hosted ArcGIS and DataStore from a Win2008 physical server to a Win2012 virtual server. I also plan to upgrade from the 10.3.0 suite to the 10.3.1 suite, but was advised to get the machine move done first. I plan to do a backup/restore on the DataStore, and to move over the data directories from both the arcgisserver and the arcgisportal. Does anybody know of potential problems with this approach?

We have an enterprise Portal which is HTTPS-only and uses windows-authentication. We have a CAD client that wants to use a series of OGC (WMS and WFS) layers registered in the Portal. Attempting to add the layers in the client (or in ArcMap) gives an error that a token is needed. By generating a token on the portal administration page, you can add the WMS service into ArcMap or into the CAD one time, but a subsequent attempt to add (even for a two-week token) will fail. What is wrong here? The URL I use in ArcMap is like https://mysite.domain.com/portal/..../WMSurl?&token=xxxxxx . It will work exactly once in ArcMap (ditto for the CAD client). It fails the next time I try to reconnect, no matter how soon.

So, the developers' edition of WAB 1.1, which has the Analysis Widget in its sitemap directory, will not show the widget until I (the administrator) update the Enterprise Portal to version 10.3.1 ? Are there similar limitations on the other new widgets (swipe tool, time tool)?

We have an Enterprise Portal running the 10.3.0 suite of ESRI products. I just downloaded the version 1.1 upgrade of WebAppBuilder and I do not see the new Analysis widget that is mentioned in the documentation. Is this feature not available against an enterprise portal, or perhaps requires a greater version?

We have an enterprise Portal that uses SSL-only and does windows-authentication from your PC domain login. I recently downloaded the 'portalpy' extension from ESRI and tried to run an example script, a simplified version shown below. import sys # bring in the portal python library portalpyPath = r'C:|Python27\portalpy-master' sys.path.append(portalpyPath) import portalpy # Login to portal, collect all users portalUrl = "https://ourserver.enterprize.com:7443/arcgis/home" portalAdminUser = "PortalAdmin" portalAdminPassword = "AdminMasterPW" portal = portalpy.Portal(portalUrl, portalAdminUser, portalAdminPassword) # Loop through the portal, printing stats for user in portal.get_org_users(): print user['username'] This in turn gets an SSL error shown below. portal = portalpy.Portal(portalUrl, portalAdminUser, portalAdminPassword) File "c:\Python27\portalpy-master\portalpy.py", line 115, in __init__ referer, proxy_host, proxy_port) File "c:\Python27\portalpy-master\portalpy.py", line 1247, in __init__ self.login(username, password, expiration) File "c:\Python27\portalpy-master\portalpy.py", line 1262, in login newtoken = self.generate_token(username, password, expiration) File "c:\Python27\portalpy-master\portalpy.py", line 1256, in generate_token resp = self.post('generateToken', postdata, ssl=True) File "c:\Python27\portalpy-master\portalpy.py", line 1463, in post resp = opener.open(url, data=encoded_postdata) File "C:\Python27\ArcGISx6410.2\lib\urllib2.py", line 404, in open response = self._open(req, data) File "C:\Python27\ArcGISx6410.2\lib\urllib2.py", line 422, in _open '_open', req) File "C:\Python27\ArcGISx6410.2\lib\urllib2.py", line 382, in _call_chain result = func(*args) File "C:\Python27\ArcGISx6410.2\lib\urllib2.py", line 1222, in https_open return self.do_open(httplib.HTTPSConnection, req) File "C:\Python27\ArcGISx6410.2\lib\urllib2.py", line 1184, in do_open raise URLError(err) URLError: <urlopen error [Errno 1] _ssl.c:504: error:14077410:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:sslv3 alert handshake failure> I've seen various posts on the net that talk about OpenSSL problems and hacks, but I'm betting somebody on this group has worked with portalpy in a secure domain before now. What's the work-around here? Do I need to import a different module and change an SSL default setting?

The existing python services in ArcToolbox will work with a feature-service, but not a mapservice. If you are working in webappbuilder with a pair of point-based mapservices, each with millions of points, what would be a good approach to do a spatial-join between two such layers? Let's say it is something like households and utility access points - not quite one-to-one, but both huge. These are mapservice layers in a corporate portal, not feature-services. I don't mind doing a little Python or javascript programming, but I am not certain what would work best in a webappbuilder environment. Thoughts?

We have a federated AGS/Portal combination (advanced license). I want to activate a Network Analyst extension for the AGS. Do I need to get another keyfile from ESRI or is there some property file to edit? The documentation is none-to-clear on this.

We (ESRI and I) are working a hypothesis that the strange behaviors come from network latency. We have some log recordings to support this. The next step will be to try the datastore product, basically putting the 'host' DB on the actual portal server machine. This should eliminate latency as an issue.

We have a new corporate Portal (10.3) which is on IIS/Win2008, SSL-only with Windows-Authentication, federated and hosted (with Oracle). Most all the parts are now working, but creating a layer from a CSV file (with X,Y points) is giving strange errors. There is no map-service shown on the Portal contents, but you can see it via the REST end-points. The feature-service shows up on the portal, but is not fully usable. The various log files show errors like 'ERROR: code:403, User does not Permission to access "*.mapserver". Utilities/PrintingTools.GPServer Access is forbidden, regardless of authorization. You can see a similar 403 in the IIS logs, but why? Everything else seems to work.

We had a variety of problems with 10.2.2. We have a hosted, federated Portal associated with this AGS, along with windows authentication. Our SDE EGDB was not the right version, but our biggest issue turned out to be a SMS security patch that messed with our Windows-authentication. A subsequent patch from Microsoft fixed the fix. I wish I could tell you precisely which patch number was the winner, but our security team puts on about a dozen of them per month. We have since upgraded to version 10.3, which has problems of its own.

Robin, we just got Developer Edition of Web AppBuilder (unsure of which beta version) running on our 10.2.2 Portal. I'm going to try some of the Github and apservices demos floating around out there. I'll find out 'real soon' if my Node.js, Grunt, and other plugs will work on these within our funky corporate proxy/security environment. We should probably do lunch somewhere near our respective buildings and compare notes.
