This project is similar to my last question. We conduct aerial surveys for different wildlife species, and need to be able to capture multiple attributes for one location (feature) at a time. For example, we need to record a group size, ruggedness value, snow cover percentage, visual obstruction percentage, activity value, and species for one single location (record/feature). From what I can determine, Quick Capture is based on feature templates, so there is no way to record all these values for one feature. I would have to create a jumbled mess of feature templates for every combination of possibilities. See the attached picture for an example of how it would ideally work. Instead of each of those groups producing a new record, it would all record to one single record. Is there a potential workaround for this? Hopefully this makes sense. I look forward to any clarification. -Samantha

Thanks for such a prompt and helpful reply. I am now getting back to this project. The user input works like a charm. Thanks for the information.

I am evaluating this to see if we can use it for aerial wildlife surveys. For the most part, I think it will work. However, my question is, can you capture a number? We collect information such as activity, canopy cover, and snow cover which fit in nicely with the workflow. One other important observation is group size. Is there a way to capture group size as a unique number? Speed of data entry is critical in these surveys, and seconds can make a difference. One workaround I can see is taking advantage of a user input and then having field staff type in the number. However, a number pad option would be ideal where the numbers could just be tapped instead of having to pull up the keyboard. Is this possible? Is this is in the works for upcoming updates? Thanks for any help or insights on this.

When mapping a new polygon feature in Collector, as soon as the screen times out on it's own, or is "locked", the streaming/mapping stops. When the phone is unlocked again, Collector simply connects the last known location to the current location with a straight line. However, the interim is a more complicated geometry than a straight line. The phone needs to be in a locked mode because it is placed into a pocket so that the field user can safely traverse rough terrain. Sometimes mapping a feature can take close to 2 hours. The user needs to be able stream the location in the background for the whole duration. This is using a Motorola Z Force with the most current updates. Other Motorola phones, Samsung phones, and i Phones don't have this issue. Other users in the same organization do not have this issue either, so it doesn't appear to be a web map/content issue. We have checked the phone settings and the setting allows Collector to be used in the background. Are there other permissions that we are not aware of that need to be changed on the phone? I have searched Geonet, forums, etc, and haven't found any mention of this issue, besides for Windows phones. Also, if this should be posted elsewhere, my apologies. -Samantha

Bert, you are a lifesaver! I spent several hours searching Google and Geonet trying to resolve this issue, and it was the same error. I had duplicated one of my domains. Deleted it out and updated the definition again and it worked! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was getting the error "Unable to create replica. Please check your parameters. Error in creating runtime geodatabase." Hopefully that will help others searching for this error. -Samantha
