Hi Marcy, Downloading/republishing the data did the trick, was hoping I wouldn't have to ha. I think I added a field within AGOL UI as well which may have been the reason for the domains being disabled. Thanks! Sam

What would cause attribute domains I've set up for a handful of fields to disappear within my feature service in my collector map? These domains were working last week, and now are not honored in the collector app. In the AGOL map, I see that these domains are functional and I'm able to see the pick list drop downs I've set up. But they've somehow gone from the collector side of things. Any thoughts on why this may have happened?

I set up the collector for a project where we surveyed residential streets. We also took ALOT of pictures. A workaround I had our surveyors with iOS devices use was to download a 3rd party app called CP Pro Camera Plus Pro on the App Store on iTunes. This app was able to get the photos down to 150KB each (https://services1.arcgis.com/E46xbxblkkNBM6FT/arcgis/rest/services/Ward21Streets/FeatureServer/0/909/attachments/397 ). Much more manageable than the ~1.5MB the default iOS camera takes. You can set the app to save images to your camera roll, so when our surveyors first arrived on site to survey a feature in the collector, they would use the CP Pro camera app first to take photos, then open the collector, fill out the form, and when it comes time to attach an image they would choose from the camera roll instead of taking a photo directly. The workflow above may seem a little ass backwards but after a few times doing it I was told it wasn't an issue at all. Anyway, it definitely helps feature service size and attachment size issues down the road. There may be other workarounds but this worked for us. Sam

Just a note that may help if your crews are using iOS devices and taking LOTS of photos with the Collector: I am currently leading a big project with the collector where we are surveying street conditions. One of the biggest things I had to address was the photo attachment size (iOS vs Android) Our android surveyors had no trouble posting edits in the field however iOS surveyors were experiencing sluggish uploads when 1 or more photos were attached to a feature. Android users were able to post edits in seconds, some iOS users took minutes (sometimes 5-10), obviously this would not be productive if we were going to survey thousands of street blocks. We have both devices being used. Android photo size averaged about 200KB per attachment resolution settings within the camera can be lowered without compromising quality). There were no issues with our Android users. However, iOS devices don't have this capability, so, photo's were around 3-4MB per attachment by default. If your project requires lots of field photos and you are using an iOS device, one work around is to download a third party camera app (we used camera plus pro) which allows a user to reduce the resolution and store the photos in the camera roll or gallery. Our new workflow for iOS field crew members was to first take a photo with the new camera app > then open the collector > attach a photo from your camera roll instead of taking a photo directly. All iOS photos were now MUCH more manageable and upload times took seconds instead of minutes. This was huuge for us. Our field crew said the brief extra step of using the third party app wasn't a hassle and it significantly improved upload times. One last note, we use the Collector on a network, not offline. Good luck! Sam

I'm wondering the same question...I've only found one other post with someone saying they use the Galaxy Note 3 and that it "works well" but would like some more concrete info on it before pulling the trigger. Can anyone help Jen and I out?

Thanks, that's good to know.. Just to clarify I need to change the source code of the flex application itself correct? I tried following the path you outlined above but couldn't find the same folder paths on my machine.. I'm looking under the 'ArcGIS Viewer for Flex' install folder. Does it sound like I'm in the correct spot?

Hi, Is the method described above still the only way to disable the "description" pick list option under the Layers button? This is an older post, but I'm not finding many recent content on this in the forums. I'm using flex 3.6 build date 12.13.2013. Thanks for any insight! Sam

Yeah that makes sense, Wasn't sure if there was a general compression range for iOS without using 3rd party compression apps. I'll have to test it out, sounds like it varies. Thanks for the responses. Sam

Great to hear android supports the 2GB sync as well. I have a project coming up where I will be taking hundreds probably thousands of photos by the end. Some surveyors will be using android (through testing I know I can get image size to around 750KB/photo). However for iOS devices is there a default compression size for the app? I'm seeing 1.6MB in some forums and other Collector resources online. If this is the case, I will probably need to use a 3rd party compression app for iOS field photos. Also, Just wanted to confirm a piece of information I heard at the UC this year. Regarding AGOL credit usage, attachments are NOW stored under the "Data Storage" category correct? (1.2 cr/ 1GB a month? ArcGIS Online | Service Credits) Thanks for the clarification. Sam

Hi Eric, You mentioned that "Collector for iOS and Android both compress the photos before adding them as attachments in both the online and offline scenarios so that will help drop the size." Any idea what size this actually is? Is it 1.6 MB/photo as Peter mentioned above? Also, with the current version of collector 10.2.5 has the amount of data one can sync to hosted feature services changed since your last post that you know of (2GB for iOS and 200MB for Android)? Thanks! I'm just looking for some clarifications on these two points. I looked around the forum and wasn't able to find any updated info. Sam

Is it possible to include a layer list widget in the top application header bar? The reason I ask is I may want the ability for a user to turn off all previously submitted comments so they can more clearly see the map before they add there own comment. It looks like it was possible at one point based on this video: http://video.arcgis.com/watch/1283/h...ervice-request Just not sure how I go about integrating it in the code Thanks for any help! Sam

Hi Lindsay, I updated the service request layer being used and the phone that previously wasn't working works fine now. I think it was a weird case of internet connection or something as that phone was the one anomaly. Every other device I have tested on the app works fine, which is great! Maybe you can help me with another question. Is it possible to include a "layer list" icon in the top application header bar? The reason I ask is I may want the ability for a user to turn off all previously submitted comments so they can more clearly see the map before they add there own comment. I have created a Citizen Service Request app using the ESRI template 10.2. I was testing the app today on desktop computers, androids, Iphones and Ipads. The app for the most part seemed to work on all these devices. However, one user on a Iphone would get the error "Unable to create service request" when trying to submit a comment. (see attachment) Ipad users and android users did not have any issues. Could this be an operating system issue on the particular Iphone? Thanks for any help. Sam

Thanks, that's easy enough. Also, Is there a workflow you can recommend if I want to prevent a user from being able to zoom/pan to far away from the content of my app. I'm basically looking for a way to fix the extent.
