Hello Duncan and Curt, Thank you for your responses. Although I am not sure how to apply it to my situation (I am not an expert). What I failed to mention in my post is that the input raster for the Raster Calculator is an output from another function within my for-loop iteration. My process is: FOR (n=1 to 20) 1. Generate a random point (Output: Rand_Pt_%n%) 2. Convert random point to a raster (Output: Rand_Pt_Rast_%n%) 3. Use (2) as input into the raster calculator. Ideally, I would like to keep the intermediate steps, and why I am stuck with the error. But I can work around it by not giving the output from (2) the variable in the name (unfortunately, this will mean overwriting). Many thanks for any solutions that you can give me. SM

Hi Jamie, I am getting the same error when trying to do a similar calculation involving in line variables. Similar to you, when only using one input raster, everything is fine. Only when trying to run with multiple inputs do I get the error (I am using a for loop). My first thought was around the placement of the %, e.g. having double %% in the line. I tried moving the variable to the middle of the name, but with no luck. Con(IsNull("%Rand_Pt%n%_flt%"),0,("%Rand_Pt%n%_flt%"*5)) ERROR 000539: Error running expression: rcexec() <type 'exceptions.RuntimeError'>: ERROR 000732: Input Raster: Dataset %Rand_Pt%n%_flt% does not exist or is not supported Failed to execute (Raster Calculator). If you have, or anyone else has, a solution, I would much appreciate a response. Many thanks SM

Hi all, I am having some weird problem with the Composite Bands Tool. When I run the Composite Bands Tool and specify the output to be .bsq, the output will be a .bil file So I run the command "CompositeBands_management Red_Template;NIR_Template;Band_Template_MIR;Band_Template_TIR D:\Simon_M\Simulation\Area_Simulation\Comp_Bands_2.bsq" And the output header given is BYTEORDER I LAYOUT BIL NROWS 3072 NCOLS 3072 NBANDS 4 NBITS 8 BANDROWBYTES 3072 TOTALROWBYTES 12288 PIXELTYPE UNSIGNEDINT ULXMAP 0.5 ULYMAP 3071.5 XDIM 1 YDIM 1 NODATA 0 Also, the above input rasters are Integer format, but when I run the same Tool with rasters in Float format, I get the following error ERROR 999999: Error executing function. Failed to copy raster dataset Failed to execute (CompositeBands). If someone can shed some light on this, it will be much appreciated. Many thanks Simon

Hi All, Sorry for the thread bump, but I am having this error with the Composite Bands tool generating error 999999 in ArcMap10. Error message shown is:- Executing: CompositeBands (Raster1);(Raster2);(Raster3) D:\Simon_M\Simulation\Simulation.mdb\SM2.bsq Start Time: Tue Aug 13 16:54:21 2013 ERROR 999999: Error executing function. General function failure 'SM2.bsq' is not a valid name. Make sure that it does not include invalid characters or punctuation and that it is not too long. Failed to execute (CompositeBands). Failed at Tue Aug 13 16:54:21 2013 (Elapsed Time: 0,00 seconds) I get this error only when my file is given an extension, e.g. .bsq, .tif, .img I do not get this error when saving as ESRI grid, but I require an output bsq file. I have tried all the advice posted in this thread, but cannot resolve this. Can someone help me with this please? Many thanks Simon
