Hi Michael, I have managed to grab the data from feature services to be shown after the asset is downloaded in the Inbox. However, I am not able to grab the data from relate tables. In short, data from layer 0 can be displayed without issue, but not data from layer 1. How can I get the data from relate table to show on Survey123 (under the repeats) Thank you SW

Hi again, I did further testing. This time I created another survey against feature service which is published with 500 records allowed to be return by the server (total number of records is 2850). This Survey works! It did not crash on the iPhone. However, the problem is that when I tried to look for assets that was not loaded in the 500 list, I cannot find the asset. When I attempt partial search to return assets starting with certain characters and it should return something, it return no hit. When I tried to 'refresh' the inbox again with the partial search string... It return 'Error code 0'. ☹️. Does this means for survey 123 built against existing feature services, I have to set all records to be returned by the server? The problem is Lists containing >1000 records appear to crash on the iPhone. On the Android, though the 2500 records survey does not crash, it takes far too much time to load or to select another feature. I then created a 3rd form that allows up to 3000 records to be returned by the server. The survey inbox downloaded 1530/2850 of the records before it subsequently crashed. Initiate Survey123 again, and attempt to open the Inbox, the survey immediately shut down. It appear there is a limit in the number of records the survey can be brought in using iPhone (?). Any ideas for me to try something else will be much appreciated. Unfortunately I am on a tight dateline to get the form working before end of coming week . Thank you again SW

Hi James, Thanks for getting back to me so soon. Manual quit Survey123 and reboot iPhone. Restart Survey123 and when I attempt to open the Inbox (containing 2500 records allowed to return by server) it immediately shut down. ☹ Any other suggestions? Thanks SW

Hi, I have updated Survey123 on both my iPhones (iphone 8 and iphone 6). When I attempt to download a survey that is linked to existing feature containing over 2500 features, Survey123 on both iPhones just crashed. However, I have an android that has the version before the latest update, that survey works on this android phone. I do not know if this is phone related but I do not dare to reinstall the latest version on this android in case it is the release that is the problem. Both my iPhones are installed with the latest release. Is there any other known issues with the latest release and iPhone? Please advice? Thank you Siew Wei

Hi James, Thanks for that advice. I have also tried republishing via ArcMap without including the GDB_ServiceItems, but upon attempt in refresh the Inbox on the app, it is stuck on the last item to be loaded . It does seem like a loading issue on Inbox? Perhaps I did something wrong in my set-up/pointers: The feature service: I have the submission_url point to: Would it help if you have access to the feature service that it's linked to? I am happy to share the feature service if you would like to email me your username. Thanks again Cheers SW

Thank you James. Unfortunately, due to some circumstances, I do not have access to ArcGIS Pro. Therefore, I’m stuck with ArcDesktop. I proceeded with your suggestion:- 1. created a base Survey using Create Advance from Connect and include two Groups of Repeats (to allow for two tables) 2. Published to AGOL 3. Entered a couple of data to the survey and confirmed data is in both Layer0 and both related tables 4. Download from AGOL to Desktop 5. Manually add a new field and entered a new row to one of the table (defectCapture) AND manually populate the GUID field using ArcDesktop 6. Republished to AGOL with all the downloaded tables and relationship including the GDB ServiceItems New field and new entry row have been added to the defectCapture table. 7. Repoint the submission_url to this republished feature layer, and republish the form 8. Download/Update the form on Survey123 9. Refresh the Inbox. All was going good until it tried to get information on the GDB_ServiceItems. An hour… it’s still stuck on the GDB_ServiceItems ☹, so i had to terminate the survey. Perhaps I shouldn’t republish with the GDB_ServiceItems in Step 6? So I republish again by overwriting the service and this time without including the GDB_ServiceItems table. When I get to Step 9 above and refresh the Inbox, it is now stuck on Getting service information on Span_Types after cycling through Bridge and defectCapture. I had not touched the Span_Types table so am perplex why the refresh on Inbox on Survey123 is stuck in getting this table's service. I had to kill the Inbox action. Please can someone advice? Thank you SW

Hi Ismael, Thank you. I have tried to get the repeats stored in a relate table to work but am having major blockage. Mainly because I could not work out how to get the relationship to be based on GlobalID field: I do not have ArcServer, only ArcDesktop & AGOL. When I create a GUID type field in the Table, it is empty. I have no way of linking the GUID type field to the GlobalID of the primary layer. The only way I know how to populate the table is done externally through using Excel. But this set the field as String rather than GUID type field. Once I import the table back into the GDB, and create a new GUID type field, I am unable to force populate the new GUID field from the corresponding String field. Therefore, the GUID type field remains empty for existing entries. Will really appreciate any advice and suggestions on how I can establish a working repeat on survey123 given the my difficulties explained above. Thank you Siew Wei

Thank you James. Will ensure relevant fields are domain-ed before publishing and building a Survey on top of it. Regards SW

Ah! THANK YOU Mike! The YouTube was very helpful! I missed the part to download the asset information from the Inbox on the mobile app. This is great! Thanks much! I further tested manipulating the domain. Adding new values to an existing domain is straightforward. However, it is not as simple to add a new domain to an existing non-domained field (?). When I set select_one function on one of the field that did not have domain option, the survey works as expected and I am able to republish with the new 'domain'. However, when I check the feature service layer itself, the domain option did not come through: What will be the work flow to add new domain to an existing feature service which Survey123 built on? Thank you much! SW

The section in the blog suggest we can update existing features: For this function to work, one will need to be able to display existing corresponding data when a feature is selected, however, I am unable to get this to work: And if I submit a survey against this same asset, I end up creating a new feature with the same ASSETNUM. This is not updating existing feature. I am unable to find information on how I need to design my XLS form built from an existing feature service so that it knows to draw information from existing features once the feature is selected. Please advice how I can go about setting up this ability. Or at least let me know this is not possible so I can proceed to find alternative way to built my form. Thank you SW

Hi Anthony, I'm not sure if you have worked out how to do this? But if you haven't, one way to prepopulate a question/field using existing data is by using 'pulldata' function with CSV file. See: https://community.esri.com/groups/survey123/blog/2016/10/27/the-pulldata-function-access-external-data I am still experimenting on prepopulating a survey from feature services. This site may help: https://community.esri.com/groups/survey123/blog/2016/07/30/understanding-survey123s-custom-url-scheme Regards Siew Wei

Hi Mike and all, Just to clarify, did you prepopulate the answers to some of your questions on a form created from feature services? I am trying to work out how to prepopulate the fields to some of the questions. I would normally use the Pulldata functions, however somewhere earlier in this blog says that pulldata function cannot be used on feature layer (?). If that is the case, is there any other way to prepopulate my questions other than having a duplicate data in a local CSV with pulldata function? Thank you SW

Hi, Following Phil's suggestion to Vish's re the repeats on images. If I understand this correctly, that is by simply adding type question image will allow for capturing image(s) on Layer 0 (which has attachment enabled). My question is, will this allow for capturing multiple images/photos per feature on Layer 0? In the normal way of creating forms using Advanced XLS, I would use the begin repeats/end repeats to allow for capturing multiple photos. But you are saying that using "begin/end repeats" on existing feature services points to related table. On another issue, I need to add more questions that does not yet have existing fields in the feature layer to the form. I do not have problem adding to the form on Connect, however, I am unable to republish the modified form as it gave me error: "The custom feature service submission url is not compatible with this survey (Field AAA not found in HostedFeatureLayer)" When creating the form from scratch, I have no problem republishing the survey as I add more new fields to the form. Is this a limitation when creating survey from feature service? How can I easily add more new fields to the form? Thank you SW
