Hello, I created a feature service from ArcGIS 10.1 and then used it in a web map on ArcGIS Online. I enabled edit tracking from the feature service. This worked great. It tracked the edits from field crews both in the web map, and created attribution in the feature service. I have since had to download the data from the feature service so I could do some edits in ArcGIS 10.1. I then created a new feature service with track edits enabled and created a new ArcGIS Online web map. Now the edit tracking does not work. Edits are not tracked in the application; the tracking fields do not update. And, when looking at the feature service properties, it keeps defaulting the tracking edits back to "disabled." Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Sarah

I can't get get it to work, either. I have enabled attachments and have tested in in ArcGIS Desktop 10.1, SP1 But when I attempt to load an attachment in ArcGIS Online, I receive an error: File Type not supported. I am just trying to attach a .jpg. The ultimate goal is to serve this up on an Android device, using the ArcGIS App from Google Play. Any help is appreciated at this point... Kat Hi Katie, Did you ever get an answer on this? I am having a similar problem attaching pictures from the Android tablet. I enabled attachments in Desktop 10.1, published the feature service, then using the ArcGIS App on my Andriod tablet I edit a point, click the "Add Attachment" button, take a picture, and then save the edits, but the picture never gets saved. I have also had it spin and spin for an hour with no result. If you got any response, I would appreciate you sharing. Thanks! Sarah

Thanks again. I cannot even get to the Utilities folder from Manager. I am thinking something might be wrong with how this was set-up. In "Manage Services" we have under Folders the "Site (root)" folder but there is no Service. There is no Service for me to click to get to the Utilities folder. So I am not sure what is going on. As you say, I may need to log an incident with ESRI. Thanks for all your help. Sarah

Hi Alexey, Thanks for all your help, but so far, I have had no success. I followed your instructions, restarted the server, created a new, simple map document accessing local data, I put a copy of the data on the server, registered the data, made sure the permissions to both sets of data were read and write. But then when publishing the map service, ArcMap still does not launch the Service Editor, and I still do not see my Map Service in ArcCatalog. Thanks.

Hi Sarah, I've seen this behaviour a couple of times. Restarting the ArcGIS Server Windows service and restarting the ArcMap usually helped. After having this done, start simple just to make sure you are able to get the Service Editor by authoring a new very simple map document accessing data locally in ArcMap and then publishing it. Thanks. I am trying to stop and restart the server, but I'm having trouble with this as well. I am in ArcGIS Server Manger and I am following the steps provided in the help files (see below), but when I click Manage Services, the Start, Stop, and Restart commands to not appear. Maybe something else is wrong here? Thanks for your help with this. ArcGIS Server Manager Open ArcGIS Server Manager and log in. If you need help with this step, see Logging in to Manager. Click Services > Manage Services. The Manage Services module appears and reveals the Start, Stop, and Restart commands. Click one of these commands. It is applied only to the service you selected in the module.

Hello, I am new to ArcGIS Server. I am trying to publish a map service to ArcGIS Server 10.1. I have connected to our ArcGIS Server through ArcCatalog, and registered the data (a file gdb) I am using. (I had to place a copy of the data on our Server). I have publisher permissions and I set read/write permissions for the gdb in Windows Explorer. So from the MXD I choose Share As>Map Service>Publish a Service>I choose my connection and a name for the service>I use the default folder, and then I click Continue. Then nothing happens. According to the tutorials, I should see the Service Editor window and see the Map Service in ArcCatalog, and I see nothing. I get no error message. I do not see the map service listed in ArcCatalog or in ArcGIS Server Manager. Could someone help? Thanks. Sarah

Hello, I am trying to publish a web application of a web map with editable layers to arcgis online. I have my web map with editable layers and from the arcgis online map viewer I am using the Share button> with Members of a Group> Make a web application. Then I choose the Edit template and Publish. But when I view my map application it says I have no editable layers. Nothing displays in the legend. Can someone help with this? Thanks, Sarah

Hello, I'm using ArcGIS Explorer Desktop with a graduate class I am teaching. I want to start using ArcGIS Explorer Online as well. I know how to add content such as layer packages to ArcGIS Explorer Desktop, but I am unsure how to add content to ArcGIS Explorer Online. We do not have ArcGIS Server, so I don't believe we can add a GIS Service. I've created a group for my class on arcgis.com and uploaded a couple of test layer packages. How can I bring these into ArcGIS Explorer Online? Thanks, Sarah Sarah Barr Adjunct Faculty Urban Data Visualization Lab College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs University of Illinois at Chicago

Hi Mike, Thanks for responding. I did run the system check and passed. I exceeded the minimum requirements, but wasn't quite up to the recommended. I don't know what to do. This is a bummer because I want to teach ArcGIS Explorer to my Urban Planning students in the Fall, but if I can't even get it to run on my machine, then we might have to forgo it. Sarah

Hi, I am having the same problem with a Sony VAIO SR series. I did not install the Intel driver update on Intel's site because, like you said, it gave me a message saying that Sony has a customized driver so I should visit their site. I found the video driver updates for my model on Sony's website and installed them last night, but I am still having no luck... getting the blank/clear window.... Any other suggestions? I am running Vista. Thanks, Sarah
