Hi Heather, I have used the route seed points. Depending on the nature of the data set, I couldn't always get clusters with no overlaps. We are talking about huge dataset that's random, for reference I can provide the sample data as well. Even though route seed points give accurate results incase of generating routes for many salesman, but this doesn't hold true in all cases.

Hi. The issue is that the maximum no. of outlets served by each salesman is 50 in VRP. Now when the VRP is executed, salesman one covers let's say 25 outlets from area one, another 10 from neighbouring area and rest from another. And 2nd salesman covers remaining 25 from area one and rest of the 25 from another and hence causing the overlap resulting in resource inefficiency.

Nope, this is a feature class, I have replicated the same process. But, I still see few gaps in the output which shouldn't be there, like why is it picking few points from one cluster and few from another, while ignoring the other available (nearest).

Hi Dan, I implemented the process on another dataset. I'm attaching the snapshot for reference, where you can clearly see two different clusters for blue pushpins. The same pattern can be observed in other cases. I don't get the logic behind it.

Actually, the global standard is that we can cover maximum 50 outlets/day using one vehicle, not more/less than that. let's say if a salesman is covering a chunk of 50 outlets on monday, then on tuesday he needs to start visiting the next nearest chunk of 50 outlets, starting from one end and sweeping the entire area. This can't be controlled in VRP even if I specify that the max order count is 50, the system incorporates all the parameters like start, end time, demand, capacity, max travelling time to generate the route, which doesn't give us the exact 50 outlets. Also, if I input all the data, the routes that are generated are overlapping, hence routes are not optimized. so I was looking if somehow I get clusters of 50 outlets, I can preserve the route and relative sequence in VRP.

Hi, I have implemented the same, but I'm not getting the results that you have attached. This is what I did. Input: Sample Data Output: Output specification Field: Shape Spatial Sort Method : UR(By default) Added a new field and calculated it using the formula in python : int(OBJECTID / 50) The groups i'm getting are random, not nearest neighbours. can you tell me what I'm missing here.

I have tagged the network analyst group as well, but no response so far. I have checked; I couldn't find anything on my query on the forum. I was hoping if someone can help me, or need more details. Thanks

Random points, these are basically the location of outlets all across the country.
