A good approach is to handle editing events as explained and cancel the edit operation. This is clearly explained in ArcGIS Pro SDK for .NET: Beginning Editing with Focus on Edit Operation - YouTube (see 27:00 min).

thanks Rich for the clear answer. Checking that the design is still OK is indeed the second best to prevent issues in the export.

I am writing an ArcGIS Pro Plugin to allow user to read into a feature class and to write it back into a proprietary file format. This is only possible (due to restrictions in the file format) when the design of the feature class in not altered by the user. Is it possible in a ArcGIS Pro .Net plugin to prevent that a user changes the design of a feature class in a file geodatabase?

Problem solved 😉 Dear Gintautas Thanks for your quick reply. This indeed solves the problem, System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().Location; "C:\\Users\\udinkr\\AppData\\Local\\ESRI\\ArcGISPro\\AssemblyCache\\{65d5c7d5-cc47-4ef6-b902-74b7f7ec86c7}\\ArcGisImx.dll" System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().CodeBase; "file:///C:/Users/udinkr/AppData/Local/ESRI/ArcGISPro/AssemblyCache/{65d5c7d5-cc47-4ef6-b902-74b7f7ec86c7}/ArcGisImx.dll" This folder contains the Install folder of the packages, unzipped.

Hi all. I'm developing an ArcGIS Pro plugin. I would like to set the properties of a layer based on a layer files (.lyrx) that I would like to provide as part of the plugin deployment. Therefore I used the LayerDocument class, constructed from a layer file path: var lyrDocFromLyrxFile = new LayerDocument(@"c:\data\layer.lyrx"); However, this seem to require an absolute path, and therefore this layer file must be installed there by the user. I can add the layerfile to the solution such that it is distributed with the plugin package. How do I construct a proper path to the resource in the package. Since the package is just a zip-file, and the resource is put with the dlls in the Install folder, I would expect the following to work: var dllPath = System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().CodeBase; var layerFile = System.IO.Path.Combine(dllPath, @"Install\LayersFiles\KILOMETERRIBBON.lyrx"); var lyrDocFromLyrxFile = new LayerDocument(layerFile); However this provides an empty layer definition.

In an ArcGIS online webmap one can make a custom attribute display popup. This is quite a powerfull feature, even allowing HTML formating. I was trying to access external content from this custom window. This works perfectly fine by maken a link, however I also want to embed the content in the pop-up window itself. By switching the edit box to "View HTML source" I wrote the following HTML: This works seems to work well. When doing an identify a popup is shown with the link (the first 2 lines) and the external content (from the embed in the last line). So far so good. However, then I save and exit the webmap, When I return to the webmap or try to use the web map in a web application, the embed-tag has disappeard. Than only the link to the external website is shown, but the content is not embedded. Can anyone help me with the following questions: Why is this happening? What subset of HTML may be used in custom popup? Are there alternatives to retrieve external content from a URL and in some way embed that in the popup? Thanks in advance.

Hi all, As suggested, I've tried: > 1) Build your processor using the 4.0 dependencies in your pom.xml file. > 2) Drop your custom jar along with httpclient 4.0 (and dependencies) into GEP's deploy folder. however without success. I get the same error as before. I think this comes from because my custom code calls the ARCGIS 10.1.1 Runtime provided with the GeoEvent processor and from there its own HTTP (4.2) stack is called. The next step as I understand is to include the whole ARCGIS Runtime in a single jar of the custom component. I've not tried this (yet). Best regards Rob

Hi I'm building a custom java processor calling a Locator service for geocoding, following the example given in http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/runtime-java/concepts/index.html#//01qv00000016000000 Using the following java code: Locator locator = new Locator(DEFUALT_LOCATOR_URL, credentials); LocatorFindParameters parameters = new LocatorFindParameters(ADDRESS); parameters.setMaxLocations(10); // number of results to return List<LocatorGeocodeResult> results = locator.find(parameters); To get it compiling en running, a dependency for HTTP client needs to be added to the POM, the one also used in the ARCGIS 10.1.1 Runtime <dependency> <groupId>org.apache.httpcomponents</groupId> <artifactId>httpclient</artifactId> <version>4.2</version> </dependency> However on calling the Locator find method the following exceptions is raised: java.lang.NoSuchFieldError: DATE_PATTERNS at com.esri.core.internal.io.handler.e.<init>(Unknown Source) at com.esri.core.internal.io.handler.g.newInstance(Unknown Source) at org.apache.http.cookie.CookieSpecRegistry.getCookieSpec(CookieSpecRegistry.java:110) .... at org.apache.http.impl.client.AbstractHttpClient.execute(AbstractHttpClient.java:1035) at com.esri.core.internal.io.handler.l.a(Unknown Source) at com.esri.core.internal.io.handler.l.a(Unknown Source) at com.esri.core.internal.tasks.a.c.c.a(Unknown Source) at com.esri.core.tasks.ags.geocode.Locator.find(Unknown Source) Locally on my development PC, I can resolve this exception by using an older httpclient version: <dependency> <groupId>org.apache.httpcomponents</groupId> <artifactId>httpclient</artifactId> <version>4.0</version> </dependency> However on the target the exception still shows up in the karaf log en the GeoEvent processor effectively stops working. Any hint on how to get this solved, or properly call a Locator within a java processor? Thanks Rob Udink
