I also have this question. I have tried to make the basemap a vector tile package and that fails too. My experience is still very limited so it would be nice to have a step by step guide on how to do this. I can publish my geodatabase to a mobile map package easily but it's not very helpful without street maps or aerial maps. Thanks, Randy

Has a solution been provided? I am publishing from a local geodatabase mxd to AGOL. Every time I add a layer I have to go through all the layers, delete the old, rename the new, change all my settings all because I want to add one layer and keep everything in the same mxd file. Now, I can't do this process anymore because we are using a 3rd party asset management program that is linked to the layer in the AGOL map. If I change the layer, it breaks the link. This really needs to be fixed now. If it has, please tell me what the process is. Thank you, Randy

Robert, that's an interesting idea. I'll make a backup of everything before I try it. I can't believe there isn't an ESRI solution and/or guide for this process using Collector.

Robert, I am the only user so I am the only one updating the local feature class. I'm trying to set up Collector so that our field crew can enter in things like account numbers for water meters and fire hydrant flushing data. It is working syncing to the AGOL feature layer (hosted). How do I get those updates back to my local geodatabase? I tried using the append geodatabase but it duplicated all of my hydrants. Thanks, Randy

Thanks for the response. I have Pro, not Enterprise. If I had Enterprise this wouldn't be an issue. The data syncs fine to my AGOL hosted layer. I just want to "sync" the collected data (field information) to my geodatabase. There must be a simple solution for this. I am a novice with Arcgis. Thanks, Randy

Ah, yes. I tried this approach. Perhaps I did something wrong because it duplicated all of my points in that feature class. I thought it would just attach the collected data to the fields that were revised. For example, a water meter has a field for the account number and a field personnel added and/or changed the account number for that meter. I want the new account number(s) that was synced. I don't want duplicated points. What did I do wrong? Thank you, Randy

I understand that. How do you update the geodatabase with attributes collected in Collector without server? Thank you, Randy

This process does not update the existing geodatabase. It only creates an http link to the hosted service. How do you update the existing geodatabase with the data collected in the collector app?

I want to use Collector to update current feature classes in my geodatabase. Things like meter account numbers, addresses, lot number, fire hydrant flushing data, etc. in the field and update my geodatabase on my desktop computer. Collector updates AGOL but what is the best way to get that data back to my pc? Thanks, Randy

Jeremy, thanks for the help and pointing out what I missed. I do want to note that turning off windows up date in that fashion did not work for me. I had to turn it off in services in order to turn updates off. Thanks, Randy

Jeremy Wright wrote: UPDATE: We worked over the weekend with Microsoft on this issue and found the root cause was the security patch, BUT we discovered a fix we can do on our end. The fix has been tested and the QFE team has begun the process of porting the fix back to the relevant versions. We're also publishing a KB article with all known details on the issue and all of the known workarounds for those that need fixes right now. I'll update the thread with the KB article as soon as it is copy edited and posted, in the meantime here's the draft of the workarounds section: Workarounds: There are several workarounds that can be used until general patches are available. Choose one of the following strategies: Switch the character-marker based symbols to use simple markers instead, and republish the map. Simple markers are not affected by this issue as they do not use the affected Windows GDI method to be published. Sorry, but I'm quite new to GIS, how is this step accomplished? Republish the map from ArcGIS Pro instead of publishing from ArcGIS Desktop. This can be done by importing the MXD into Pro and sharing via a portal connection or to server directly. ArcGIS Pro publishing uses a different code path that’s not dependent on the faulting GDI function. Publishing from ArcGIS Pro did not resolve the issue. Roll back the security updates temporarily on either client or server machines: If publishing a map or feature service to ArcGIS Server directly or ArcGIS Enterprise: The machine on which ArcGIS Server is installed must be rolled back to before the June security patches for Microsoft Windows (KB4503286 or KB4503276) and opted out of updates until a resolution is available, and the affected services must be restarted. If publishing a hosted service to ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Online: The machine on which ArcGIS Desktop is installed must be rolled back to before the June security patches for Microsoft Windows (KB4503286 or KB4503276) and opted out of updates until a resolution is available, and then the affected services must be republished from the rolled-back machine. You might add that you will need to manually turn off windows update on windows 10 or else it will automatically update after you roll it back. Thanks for the update. I have commented on my experiences above in italics. Only one solution has worked for me thus far. I'm not updating my pc and I'm waiting to set up a new pc until this issue is fixed. Thank you, Randy

I turned windows update off in services but it did an update anyway. Now I can't publish my map because I'm afraid my symbology won't show correctly. I do updates to our map daily and need this fixed immediately. The simple basic solution is to roll back the app. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has field personnel that rely on the mobile app to do their job. Why hasn't a solution been provided yet?

Colin, thanks for the response. So a solution has been found. When will the app be updated to default to simple symbology? Thank you, Randy

Well, since Windows 10 automatically updates, I had an update on July 1 so I had to restore my computer again, republished and now it's working. I have to manually turn off Windows update and IT is not too happy about that.
