Hi, I did found a solution I don’t fully remember it now but I crated SD draft and before crating the SD itself I parse it with an xml library and changed the values so it will be a feature service from my SDE. Its and old code that I did for a client so I don’t have it on my, but this was the idea, and it worked. I don’t remember if it was for this part of the code but I use both of the python env in this script both python 3 and python 2, because off different capability that I needed. It was done with subprocess. Good Day.

Hi Randall, thank you for the answer, so I assume that I have no way of controlling the amount of resources that hosted services is taking from my server is that true? Can I know just for the purpose of planning my deployment? Thanks.

Hello, When we publish a service to the ArcGIS server we can set how much computing resources the service can use. But what happen when we publish hosted services? Can we configure or even know how much resources we use? How much process (arcgis soc) do we use? Thank you.

Hello, I have a federated server and portal 10.5.1. using 2 web adaptors, one for the portal and the other for the server. they both seat in the same IIS that have a cert in it. This IIS is open to the world and the other server are closed. Everything is working great but I have a one problem. I am a developer that does allot of work the rest API, in this configuration (I didn’t had that problem when I had 1 web adaptor configurated for both server and portal, but ESRI recommended to have 2) I can't update my hosted services. I can update my services the are in my SDE (And was publish directly to the server not to the portal as hosted) but the hosted one doesn't work. When I try to get token from the portal I get: "Invalid Token" that I can understand because that I work with the rest api of the server and I need to get a server token (I guess?) . When I try to get a token form the server I get: "User does not have the privilege to perform this operation." I know I need to get the server from the token because with this token I can query the service. But way I can't update it? I am using the admin (and the owner of the items) credentials. The items is open for edit and I even created a group with one user because I thought it will help? When I sign in to the rest API with the browser I can update it. The python doesn't work. Any ideas?

Hello Xander, Thanks for the answers, a follow-up question. I want to publish with python a service that will reffer to the data in the enterprise geodatabase, Pro can do that and when you do manually it does not upload an .sd file to the portal and does not write "feature layer (hosted)" in the type field of my content, it only write "feature layer". How can I do the same thing (not uploading the .sd and not get the (hosted)) with python 3 or ArcGIS API for python. Thank you again.

Hi, I am building a script in python 3 and plan to run it from pro, the script in his first part will publish serval hosted feature layer to portal 10.5.1 and that is o.k. I have 4 more layers the sit in one project and will publish as one service they are taken from our enterprise geodatabase inside Microsoft sql server. I want to publish those layers as regular services for the server and not as hosted in the portal. But I couldn't find the way to do it from Arcpy for python 3 modules . Thank you.

Hello, I am an experience arcpy developer including large experience with the arcgis rest api. I need to bullied a process that will publish multiple feature services (hosted and from SDE) to portal 10.5.1. Usually its not a problem but now I need to publish it from ArcGIS Pro projects and use the lyrx symbology. I am wondering about the python I should use. My dilemma is this: because I need to work with ArcGIS Pro I should use python 3, but if I work with python 3 request module I will not be able to publish it as a geoprocessing services (its different between py 2 and py 3). This is one issues I am thinking about. The other thing that I am wounding about is after I will open a new folder in portal (with my py script) and then publish all of the feature services to that folder I will need to author a new web map and fully configurate it (popups and other things). After that I will need to deploy a web app builder app (but I will get to that in the end). What I am asking is: did anybody had to do something kike this fully in python? Are there any advices? Is there any solutions that I can see or use? And should the ArcGIS pyhon API is something that can handle this kind of operation? I know there is the ArcGIS for State Government Solutions but as far I can see this are fixed template and none of them is good for our one specific app. Thank, Roi.

Hello, I want to use the web app builder for developer, but I need to restrict the access to the app itself (not only the data) so the user can enter only within the portal, the apps are deployed in a public access IIS. I know I can register an app with in the portal but how do I prevent access directly to Any ideas?

Hello, I am using the ArcGIS Rest APIs for a long time and I can't get to figure out what is the correct endpoint? And syntax? for adding a coded value to a domain. I have a list of around 5000 values in a domain and I am building a python script that will add one more code and value to that list, but I can't succeed. So what I am asking is to use the Update_Definition? Or the Add_to_Definition? And if I can append a code and a value to the list or I need to post the all list? Did anyone have a success in doing so? Thank you all, Roi.

Hello, In an attempt to upload SHP and GDB to a geoprocessing tool () without having the user zipping the files, I wrote a code that enable the users to select many files and the browser will zip it for them. I am trying to figure out where to add this code in the geoprocessing widget of the webapp builder. I am looking for the lines that send the file to the server to get the item id, and there to put my code, but I can't find it. Any ideas? Thank you, Roi Algavish.
