I wasn't able to resolve the issue. You can go to the services directory, copy the REST urls for each service (that hangs in the portal), then add each one as a new item of type URL ("link to an arcgis web service").

I abandoned Skyline and instead used Construct Sight Lines, then Lines of Sight. Then I did pairwise buffer with dissolve and a very small distance, followed by union. I used erase to remove the "visible" areas from the non-visible areas of the silos, then used make feature layer several times to remove features outside the unioned areas. Here's the result -

Hi all, I wonder if I'm missing something obvious here. I'd like to use the skyline and skyline barrier tools to generate visible and non-visible areas around some features in a local scene. I run skyline twice, with and without the Create Silhouettes parameter checked. Without silhouettes, I get the areas visible to the observer. With silhouettes, I'd like to get the areas silhouetted from (not visible to) the observer. But instead, I get this - Here's another view of the silhouettes - I know the doc indicates - This tool can be used to create feature silhouettes that can be extruded into shadow volumes using the Skyline Barrier tool. The shadows generated through this process will be created at a slight offset from the geometry of the input features. But this seems to be more than a slight offset. Any ideas on how to make the silhouettes be true silhouettes from the observer? Or should I just brute-force something in 2d and arcpy? BTW the exploratory analysis Viewshed tool is awesome, but it doesn't give me an output. Thanks! Rob

Our Datastore suddenly stopped working this morning and wrote this error into the system error log: postgres: could not find the database system Expected to find it in the directory "C:/arcgisdatastore/pgdata", but could not open file "C:/arcgisdatastore/pgdata/global/pg_control": No such file or directory I was able to confirm that there is no pg_control file or folder in global. describedatastore returns this - Error encountered: No valid connection to ArcGIS Data Store configuration store established. Caused by: Connection to localhost:9876 refused. Check that the hostname and port are correct and that the postmaster is accepting TCP/IP connections. I checked the firewall and 9876 is not open. This seems odd given that the site has been up for quite some time now. Any ideas? Just open the port?

I figured it out. After importing the template, find the template's report.xml. Open in a text editor. Find the first occurrence of <d f="headers.AREA_DESC"/> Change headers.AREA_DESC to headers.SITE_NAME and save Open Summary Reports Set the Store Name Field to the field with the value you want to appear in the site name cell. Run the tool. A few notes: I should have named this post "How to get the site name to appear in the output summary report?" I thought area description was correct because the comparison table editor in the infographic builder looks like this - The report.xml contains a table definition that looks like this - <tr height="26.94076">
<td style="font-size:9.75;" align="center" valign="center" overrideStyle="TableHeader" pad="2.25" vpad="1.5">Sites</td>
<td style="font-size:9.75;" align="right" valign="center" overrideStyle="TableHeader" pad="2.25" vpad="1.5">2000 Total Population (U.S. Census)</td>
<td style="font-size:9.75;" align="right" valign="center" overrideStyle="TableHeader" pad="2.25" vpad="1.5">2010 Total Population (U.S. Census)</td>
<td style="font-size:9.75;" align="right" valign="center" overrideStyle="TableHeader" pad="2.25" vpad="1.5">2020 Total Population (U.S. Census)</td>
<td style="font-size:9.75;" align="right" valign="center" overrideStyle="TableHeader" pad="2.25" vpad="1.5">2023 Total Population (Esri)</td>
<td style="font-size:9.75;" align="right" valign="center" overrideStyle="TableHeader" pad="2.25" vpad="1.5">2028 Total Population (Esri)</td>
</tr>
<tr height="26.94076">
<td style="font-size:9.75;" align="center" valign="center" overrideStyle="Default" pad="2.25" vpad="1.5">
<d f="headers.AREA_DESC"/>
</td>
<td style="font-size:9.75;" align="right" valign="center" overrideStyle="Default" pad="2.25" vpad="1.5">
<d f="comparison_0.KEYUSFACTSTOTPOP00" m="#,#0"/>
</td>
<td style="font-size:9.75;" align="right" valign="center" overrideStyle="Default" pad="2.25" vpad="1.5">
<d f="comparison_0.AGEBYRACEBYSEXTOTPOP10" m="#,#0"/>
</td>
<td style="font-size:9.75;" align="right" valign="center" overrideStyle="Default" pad="2.25" vpad="1.5">
<d f="comparison_0.KEYUSFACTSTOTPOP20" m="#,#0"/>
</td>
<td style="font-size:9.75;" align="right" valign="center" overrideStyle="Default" pad="2.25" vpad="1.5">
<d f="comparison_0.ATRISKTOTPOPCY" m="#,#0"/>
</td>
<td style="font-size:9.75;" align="right" valign="center" overrideStyle="Default" pad="2.25" vpad="1.5">
<d f="comparison_0.AGEBYRACEBYSEXTOTPOPFY" m="#,#0"/>
</td>
</tr> The first headers.AREA_DESC is where the missing site name should go. Subsequent rows populate correctly. "headers" refers to entries in a fields element in metadata.xml (another file in the imported template). headers.SITE_NAME refers to a "SpecialField" in metadata.xml.

I'm trying to prototype a workflow in ArcGIS Pro whereby a series of reports with text and charts are generated using the Summary Reports gp tool. BA Web has a Comparison Report tool that allows me to choose some sites and variables and generate a table or chart. I can even print or export the output. I can access comparison reports through Pro, but not import them using Import Template. I can add a comparison table to a infographic, import that into Pro and run it through Summary Reports. However, the Summary Reports GP tool doesn't seem to honor the Area Description field (another question here). This causes problems with outputs that have multiple sites. Does BA Desktop on Pro have a comparison report functionality with charts?

I posted a similar question two weeks ago here. I must be missing something. How do I get the Summary Reports GP Tool's Area Description parameter to work, as in appear in my output? Here's what I'm doing: Author a custom infographic with 1 image, 2 texts, 1 graph using 200, 2010, 2020, 2023, and 2028 population, and 1 comparison table with Places Sample data and Counties Sample data. In BA Desktop, import the info graphic from my content > report templates > right-click > Import Template Open GP Tool, Summary Reports. Set these parameters: Boundary Layer - Set to a feature layer with a layer def query w/1 feature Create Reports - Choose the imported infographic from step 2 Output Folder - default Summarization Options - Individual features, Single Report Checked On. Report Output Formats - Checked On Area Description Field - set to a field with a name (eg: some town) Click Run. Result: The PDF is created, but my site name is not populated from the Area Description field. How do I get my site name into that empty cell? I know I can wrap this tool in python, and before invoking it, parse the report.xml, and insert my site name into the xml. It just seems like Area Description should work.

A bit of a doh moment on my part. The answer to this was given to me by the BA team at the User Conference: Import the template into BA desktop. This creates a template folder with several files, including report.xml Parse report.xml looking for the content in question Change the text, save the file Run Summary Reports

Hi all, I'd be interested in any thoughts on this - We recently deployed an ArcGIS Dashboard to a client. It has 33 widgets, mainly indicators and serial charts. It also has an embedded content driven by a table, that itself is controlled by a selector. The entire thing runs on 8 Arcade data expressions. Everything works well, and performance is great once the dashboard opens. However, opening the dashboard can be slow. It seems to range from 1.5 minutes to 4, depending upon upload speeds. If I profile the dashboard load in the browser's dev tools, it looks like it's fetching data for the widgets. Questions - Does anyone know any tricks to speed up the initial load? Currently it loads in an "empty state" where nothing is rendered or populated until a user selects an option from a selector. Then all widgets and the embedded content display. Am I crazy to think that upload speed has more impact than download? I've profiled it in a few different environments and it seems faster to load when upload speeds are dramatically faster, even if download speeds are slower. Thanks! Rob

I'm working with a client using the Urban API to generate buildings. While they are able to use createLOD1Buildings mutation, they wonder if there's a way to do this more like the UI. Here's the inquiry - Using Urban API, it's possible to create a plan, a branch, and a parcel inside that branch and then attach to that branch a BuildingTypeID by updating it. This looks like this : `mutation { updateParcels( urbanDatabaseId: "db1741f6d0b249a186d3f30d4b7cd363" parcels: { attributes: { GlobalID: "6c7b58d5-7ba1-4c87-894c-7cf67f7fc7ae" BuildingTypeID: "198e597b-5d16-4cad-ae2d-f74092008d86" DevelopmentType: BuildingType Develop: true } } ) { attributes { GlobalID } } }` I still pass the property Develop and DevelopmentType as an attribute, I also try to include Demolish in the attributes. The idea behind this updateParcels mutation would be to reproduce a functionality from Urban web application: when we select a branch, and then a parcel, under the tab "Develop" there is the possibility to attach a building type, and then, by clicking "Apply building type" various spaces are going to be generated. Would it be possible to know if this "Apply building type" functionalities is something specific the the web application, or is it also possible to use it with Urban API? Thanks!

Hi all. Looking for some guidance here. I'm prototyping a workflow that uses ArcGIS Business Analyst and a custom infographic. The ArcGIS REST API operation, createReport, allows me to pass text strings to the infographic through the reportFields parameter. I set address and areadesc2 in the reportFields parameter and the text appears in the output PDF. If I try the same thing using the ArcGIS Business Analyst Desktop gp tool Summary Reports, I can only set the Area Description Field parameter, which seems to equate to the address field in REST. How do I pass custom text to my infographic through the Summary Reports tool? Here's what I've tried: Summary Reports output to PDF - Set the Area Description Field parameter. This works, but I also want to set areadesc2. Summary Reports output to HTML - Set the Area Description Field parameter. This does not display in the output HTML. However, I can edit the HTML's reportJson data to populate areadesc2 (it's in there under areaData - Headers - data - AREA_DESC2. Once I edit the HTML and refresh the page, the areadesc2 content will display. "areaData": [ { "headers": { "data": { "STORE_ID": "0", "AREA_ID": "16", "StdGeographyName": "", "StdGeographyID": "", "StdGeographyLevel": "", "AREA_DESC": "This is a test", "STORE_NAME": "", "STORE_ADDR": "", "AREA_DESC2": "Simplicity boils down to two steps: Identify the essential. Eliminate the rest", "STORE_LAT": "", "STORE_LONG": "", "SITE_NAME": "", "ORIGINAL_OID": { "name": "ORIGINAL_OID", "alias": "ORIGINAL_OID", "type": "esriFieldTypeDouble", "value": 16 } }, "comparisonLevels": [] }, Thanks!

Posting this in case someone else runs into this - My colleague shares a point feature layer, FOO Amenities to ArcGIS Enterprise 11. It has 6 sublayers I also share a point feature layer FOO Amenities to the same enterprise. It has 1 sublayer, FOO Amenities. My colleague creates a view layer from FOO Amenities, FOO Amenities_view. I try to create a view layer from my feature layer FOO Amenities. Title is FOO Amenities view. Error: The view layer could not be created. Try again. Trying again would of course display the same error message. Checking the browser's console indicates that the service name already exists. One would hope that returning a better error message would be an easy fix.
