Add more functionality and customising options to the graphics toolbar to help with presentation of maps - a "bit" like MS Office PowerPoint on an ArcView license e.g. Creation of arrows (different sizes, colours etc.) Full control of the shape of callouts Basically get some of the useful shapes from Powerpoint with also the ability to dynamically link them to attributes from the attribute table of a layer. This would help us annotate maps and have greater control of how we would like text displayed.

I have found the following bugs in the events classes (all still present from earlier versions of ArcMap) ESRI.ArcGIS.Carto.IFeatureLayerSelectionEvents_Event.FeatureLayerSelectionChanged If the selection rectangle drawn by the user did not select any records then this event is raised 3 times. The event is raised when the layer is not visible, and it's raised 3 times too. The event is raised when the layer is toggled as "not selectable". ESRI.ArcGIS.Carto.IActiveViewEvents_Event.SelectionChanged When clearing selection the event is raised twice. Adding a new data frame raises this event, which it shouldn't. When deleting a graphic and this event is being caught then the map does not refresh. The event is also raised twice again. The event is raised when a feature layer is removed from the map (the layer did not have a selection either). ESRI.ArcGIS.Carto.IActiveViewEvents_Event.ItemReordered The toIndex arguments always returns -2147483648. A layer being added to or removed from the map that would alter the index of the layer thus 'reorder' does not raise this event. ESRI.ArcGIS.Carto.IActiveViewEvents_Event.ContentsCleared Could not get this event to be raised. Not sure what it's mean't to do either as the documentation is not that specific. ESRI.ArcGIS.Carto.IActiveViewEvents_Event.FocusMapChanged The event does not get raised when the map focus changes. Though IDocumentEvents_Event.ActiveViewChanged seems to work ok. Some events seem to be missing from ArcObjects too to cover over changes in layer properties for example: Field Visibility Changes Field Aliases change Data source changes in ILayer_Events Primary display field is changed Join/ relate added/changed/removed in ILayer_Events

The 9.3 types used to be in ESRI.ArcGIS.ADF have been split into ESRI.ArcGIS.ADF.Local (base classes) and ESRI.ArcGIS.ADF.Core (utility functions) at 9.4 beta2. Also at beta2, ESRI.ArcGIS.ADF is marked as deprecated so you should reference ESRI.ArcGIS.ADF.Local in any new/upgraded project instead when inheriting these .NET base classes. Existing 9.x projects referencing ESRI.ArcGIS.ADF should still compile but it is recommended to move to the .Local assembly instead when upgrading. See Changes to the ESRI.ArcGIS.ADF assembly in http://help.esri.com/en/sdk/9.4/ArcObjects_NET/ConceptualHelp/index.htm#/d/0001000002M2000000/ Hope this help. Great thanks for clearing that up.

sorporbear, This is fixed now, there was some additional code in the register function that was causing the issue - not sure why it was in that method in the first place but anyways I've removed it and it works as usual - thanks for the pointers. Thanks, Rob

One of our projects is failing to build when registering the assembly. when run with the error code option we get the following: Managed Exception: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. Operation Failed 00938700 In our xml project file we have: <Target Name="BeforeClean"> <Exec WorkingDirectory="$(CommonProgramFiles)\ArcGIS\bin" Command="esriRegasm.exe "$(TargetPath)" /v 9.4 /p Desktop /u /s /e" Condition="Exists('$(TargetPath)')" /> </Target> <Target Name="AfterBuild"> <Exec WorkingDirectory="$(CommonProgramFiles)\ArcGIS\bin" Command="esriRegasm.exe "$(TargetPath)" /v 9.4 /p Desktop /s /e" /> </Target>

In Beta 1 we had to have ESRI.ArcGIS.ADF AND ESRI.ArcGIS.ADF.Local in our VS projects referenced. When I loaded the solution after Beta 2 I ended up with a load of ambiguous errors until I removed ESRI.ArcGIS.ADF. So what's it to be? Should we be using ESRI.ArcGIS.ADF or ESRI.ArcGIS.ADF.Local? If it's the Local namespace then is ESRI removing all the classes that were in the ADF namespace? Cheers, Rob

Hi, Is the file geodatabase API going to have better performance than using ArcObjects? The classic example would be is iterating through features in a FGDB Feature Class going to be faster using the API than enumerating through using IFeatureCursor? If so any indications how much faster? Thanks, Rob

Hi, is the FGDB API going to be available for Beta 2 as I saw there's a session for it in the Dev Summit? Also any news on the date of availability of Beta 2? Just want to schedule in some research time! Thanks, Rob
