When ArcMap connects to ArcGIS Server you connect as a user. Is the production machine connecting using the same user as the machine that works? I am guessing that this is some type of permission issue.

Some possibilities: Extents problem. What I mean by that is that the image is being displayed but the Full Extent command is taking you to a zoom level which is too far out (in your case you have 1 : 1,238,063). Can you zoom to the area where you know that the image should be displayed at a reasonable resolution? Projection (spatial reference) problem. Is the coordinate system associated with the image correct? Image service creation problem. When you created the image service did you take the steps needed to remove all the warnings, e.g. generate statistics, overview, pyramids, etc.? You did not describe the steps that you followed to create the image service.

The ArcGIS Pro beta is out but no SDK has been released. If you are developing a desktop application then you will never have ArcObjects x64. With Pro you will have x64 but it won't be ArcObjects. That means that any existing application is going to have to be rewritten to support Pro.

When it crashes, a crash dump should be generated: http://support.esri.com/em/knowledgebase/techarticles/detail/40370 You can open the crash dump in Visual Studio and see where it crashed. Hopefully, that gives you some insights into the problem. In terms of debugging: 1) You can launch the ArcMap process from the debugger 2) You can run ArcMap and then attach to process 3) You can launch the debugger from your code (see System.Diagnostics.Debugger.Launch and Break) 4) You can debug the crash dump 5) You can use print statements (I use the Debug View utility) or logging Make sure that you configure the debugger to use the ESRI symbol server. Finally, if Visual Studio is being less than helpful then use WinDbg (free from Microsoft).

ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Server are not funcationally equivalent. For example, you can publish image services to ArcGIS Server but not ArcGIS Online. The list goes on. ArcGIS Online is much more limited in what it supports.

I do not believe that your code will work because ESRI dropped supported for the APIs that you are using: http://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/2011/04/27/considerations-for-arcgis-server-developers-a-look-toward-10-1/ http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/arcobjects-cpp/conceptualhelp/index.html#//000100000148000000 At 10.1, you can no longer use ArcObjects remotely (via DCOM); this way of interacting with ArcGIS for Server is no longer supported. If you are using GISServerConnection in the Server library or AGSServerConnection in the GISClient library in your code, these need to be removed if you are working with ArcGIS for Server 10.1. So what can you do? I'd suggest to Goggle on "arcgis server create map service programmatically". Here is a relevant post: http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/27873/arcobjects-arcserver-10-1-how-to-programatically-publish-a-map-service Read the last post by nicogis who is well informed.

I think that the example you gave is using DCOM in conjunction with ArcObjects. I also think that support for that ended with 10.1: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/index.html#//0154000005n9000000 Determine if you have any client applications that connect to ArcGIS Server using DCOM (ArcGIS Server Local) connections ArcGIS Server versions 10.0 and earlier supported both DCOM (ArcGIS Server Local) and HTTP (ArcGIS Server Internet) connections. Beginning at version 10.1, support for DCOM connections with ArcGIS Server was discontinued. You need to refactor your web applications to use HTTP connections before upgrading. If you used DCOM connections for the purpose of accessing ArcObjects, you need to remove your ArcObjects code or wrap it in a server object extension.

This looks promising, but won't be usable until ESRI provides VS 2013 support for the SDK. http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/9abe329c-9bba-44a1-be59-0fbf6151054d I don't think that you need to wait on anything. I use VS 2013 all the time. The key thing that is lost is the various project templates.

If you need rapid support then filing an issue with ESRI support is your best bet. Sorry to ask the obvious but exactly what licenses do you have? My guess is that there is a problem with your license(s). The ArcGIS Pro API has not yet been made available so it isn't possible to provide future information on it. I have 10.2.2 loaded. On my machine when I open the project you mentioned then the Platform is set to "Active (x86)" on the Build tab in the project properties. If you build the project that way then it will run as a 32 bit image regardless of whether you are running on a 32 or 64 bit machine. I did the following: 1) Opened the solution in Visual Studio 2013 2) Deleted the ClonableObject assembly reference in TestApp 3) Added a project reference to CloneableObject in TestApp 4) Built the solution in debug and ran it It ran fine. FWIW, I am running on Windows 7 x64.

I previously developed a solution which used a secure ArcGIS Server running behind the firewall, i.e. as an internal component. The way that it worked is that the users authenticated against the website and ArcGIS Server requests were routed through the website. One of the things that the website did was to proxy these type of requests. If the user was authenticated then it validated the request, generated (or used a cached) token, added the token to the request and forwarded the request to ArcGIS Server, and then finally returned the response. I am not saying that this is the pattern for your total solution but it might be a component.

I attended the Developer Summit this year with a colleague. He attended a session on the new ArcGIS Pro product and indicated that he heard that file geodatabases would not be supported in Pro. Can someone confirm or deny this? I thought that file geodatabases were very much a fundamental part of the system.

I installed ArcGIS Server 10.2.2 on Windows 7 Professional x64. When I display Server Manager in Chrome Version 34.0.1847.116 m (the latest I believe) then it does not display correctly (see attached image). Server Manager displays fine using IE 11.0.9600.17041. Here is a similar issue but for an older version: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/91105-ArcGIS-10.1-Server-Manager-not-loading-in-Chrome
