We make river mile labels and hatches on our routed streams available as annotation layers in our web apps for our staff and the public. Currently, I convert the hatches to annotation in ArcMap with the "Convert hatches to graphics" command. I use the option to store the hatches in a geodatabase annotation feature class. As we migrate our workflows to Pro it would be great to include this functionality.

As everyone else in this thread has already discovered the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2007 redistributable worked for me, too. It's available from the CNET site at 2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download.com . Bob

I downloaded the 32-bit 2016 MS Access db engine and tried to install it. I got the same error that I did with the 32-bit 2010 Access db engine attempted install (screen capture inserted below). I'll contact tech support. Bob

Jared, I just tried to install the 32-bit MS Access db engine 2010 driver and I got an error that I already had 64-bit Office installed. I installed the 64-bit driver and still get the original "Failed to connect..." error when trying to open a .xlsx file. Any ideas? Bob

Hi Jared, My instance of MS Office was recently upgraded from MS Office 2010 (32-bit) to 2013 (64-bit). I can open .mdb and .xls files in Catalog, but I get the "Failed to connect..." error when I attempt to open. xlsx files. I'll try the link above and let you know how it goes. Bob

The page appears to have moved or been dropped for "Error: Failed to connect to database. An underlying database error occurred. Class not registered". Does anybody have the new location?

Hello Christopher, When I try to update the Pro SDK in Visual Studio 2013 (Professional) I get a message that the reference "Visual Studio MPF 14.0" must be present. I'm not having much luck trying to track down this reference. Is VS 2013 still supported? Thank you, Bob

Or, you could try this (from Jason Sheirer's entry in GIS Stack Exchange, http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/64937/checking-if-python-script-is-run-from-arcgis-arcmap-or-on-server-or-a-stand-al 😞 In the Python window (if you're in ArcMap): >>> import sys >>> sys.executable 'C:\\Program Files (x86)\\ArcGIS\\Desktop10.3\\bin\\ArcMap.exe'

The "world topo map" and "world terrain base" contain the same misspelling for the "Wallowa" mountain range in northeastern Oregon (currently spelled as "Willowa"; probably came from National Geographic which is in error, also). The approximate center of the range is 45 11 58 N, 117 12 29 W. Here??s a citation from the Geographic Names Information System from the U.S. Board on Geographic Names: http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnispublic/f?p=gnispq:3:::NO::P3_FID:1151864 .

I contacted tech support and was directed to the following ESRI knowledge base article: http://resources.arcgis.com/content/kbase?fa=articleShow&d=36563 Basically, I needed the MS SQL Server 2008 Native Client installed. Once I did that ArcMap could draw the features. Bob 😄

I'm experiencing the same problem (in XP). I am connecting to a feature class in a 9.3.1 SDE database in SQL Server '08 which uses the "geometry" type. It works fine from Arc 10 in Windows 7 and Arc 9.3.1 (with or without SP2) in Windows 7. I get the draw error mentioned above when I try it in Arc 9.3.1 (with or without SP2) in Windows XP. Help! Bob
