Hello, I use arcpy through the python GUI Spyder. Since updating to 10.6, I am unable to use any function that writes anything arc format. I can read in data and process it, but cannot write anything. I can use the execfile() function through the python window to execute my scripts, but I need to modify them and it is annoying. Has anyone else had this issue?

Okay so the "two squares" are actually just one rectangle being crossed by the original line. So now my question becomes how do I divided this rectangle into n slices? Thanks!

Hello, So I have been trying for quite a while now to convert road polylines into grids of points or polygons based on survey parameters. I have a survey with 10 transverse measurements every 100 ft longitudinally. I have gotten the data into to arcmap and produced single points every 100 ft along the road polyline. I now need to create the traverse points/polygons (either would work) at the locations of the traverse(just a set of points that crosses the street) I then used the "minimum bounding geometry" to create rectangles at the points. The tool produced 2 squares stacked on top of each other at each point. How would I get the tool to produce n number of squares (10 for this survey)? I need one polygon or point or something at the location of each traverse measurement! Getting very frustrated! Thanks, Ryan

hey, So i downloaded ET geowizard 10.2 for arcmap10.2.2. In the past when I have used geowizard, I could access all the free tools by just clicking on the ETGT logo. However, after my recent download of arcmap 10.2.2, I cannot find any of these functions or the interface that I am used to. In the tool bar I can find the 5 ET toolbars, but none of them have any of the conversion tools that I am looking for. Any suggestions? Ryan

Hello, I have managed to disappear the tool bar that has the zoom, grab, and global view, ect on it. I don't know specifically what its called, but I can not figure out how to get it back and I need it obviously. Thanks!

Thanks I'll give that a shot. Do you know if there is a way to buffer points into rectangles rather than into circles? Thanks!

Thanks that is definitely a good starting point. I dissolved all the poly lines into one line. Then, used the split line feature. However, you are limited to 999 equal pieces. I want 1m cuts which would mean I would have to cut the roads first into km pieces and then meter pieces. This get me going on little sample section though thank you. If I find a better solution I will post!

Hello, Quick disclaimer: I am a geologic engineering student that has been placed in charge of the GIS portion of a research project(not sure why) and I do not have very much experience. I need to turn a road layer into discrete polygons 1m in length. I am trying to overlay visual pothole/road failure data, GPR data, and other data to make statistical comparisons. I know how to make the lines(the roads) into polygons, but can not figure out how to cut them up into little bits automatically. Any help would be appreciated.
