I'm working through doing this in .net right now. There's info on checking job status here - Checking job status—ArcGIS REST API: Spatial Analysis Service | ArcGIS for Developers

Hi, I know query layers are dynamic in the sense that the query is executed every time the layer is displayed. In my experience, query layers perform best when you specify 1 unique identifier field. However, since a query layer requires only 1 database connection, I don't think it's possible to make a query layer using data from multiple databases directly in arcgis. Another option to explorer - I have never tried it, but I know you can use database links to make a connection across multiple databases, then create a view from that which arcgis can read those joins. There's more on this topic here - Distributed Database Concepts Hope this helps! - Steve

I'd suggest running fiddler while attempting to run the script on that server, then see what exactly it's failing on so you know for sure. Download Fiddler Web Debugging Tool for Free by Telerik I'm fairly positive your IT staff can validate specific extension types relevant to arcgis, grant your user name with special permissions, or create a new outbound rule on the firewall to achieve what you need. Is data theft a concern to your organization? If your outbound requests are over a secure connection and data theft is not a concern, then I don't think this level of security is necessary. (I know this may not be what your IT staff wants to hear) I think this is a matter of access on the firewall that you will not be able to get around just using model builder or python. If you use fiddler and identify what https calls are failing, then you could at least report what outbound access you will need to your IT staff and see if they can grant that to you. Hope this helps. - Steve

Hi Bruno, Could you provide the script? I assume it fails when you run it. What is the error? From my understanding, any tool or script that shares data to AGOL involves a series of http calls until the process is completed. As a first step, I would try adding http://www.arcgis.com & https://www.arcgis.com to the list of trusted sites in your internet options.

crackernutter Did you resolve this? The way I update items is create a webmap object from the portal item > call 'operationalLayers' on the webmap object > define the new url variable (hardcoded url) > update the web map layer dictionary > call update Since you've been able to copy items using this API, maybe you could help me out on my question. Have been getting permissions errors when trying to copy webmaps. See link below... Copy Items - RuntimeError (Error Code: 403)

Hi, I'm working through the samples for cloning content (Clone portal users groups and content | ArcGIS for Developers) I've successfully cloned groups from source to target AGOL portals. However, I keep running into the following permissions error when I attempt to copy items from source to target...
It was originally hanging up on the create_folder method. However, if I use this method separately it does successfully create a folder.
Now the issue seems to be something different...
Has anyone had success copying items from source to target portals?
