I came this issue when I was trying to create a public-facing Geoform that allowed users to add attachments but the attachments kept failing. I found anonymous users could not successfully add attachments to an editable hosted feature layer with these edit settings: I want to collect information from the public, with attachments, without anyone being able to discover the data collected (unless a read-only view has been setup for this purpose). There are some okay workarounds, like creating a feature layer view and use a view definition to only show features created in the last x minutes (Cannot attach images in Public Survey ) but this is not ideal.

Thank you so much for the workaround, that seems to do the trick! I really appreciate it.

So where does that leave me? Is it just not possible? I can't even successfully add attachments by editing the associated hosted feature layer directly. Is that expected as well?

I stumbled across the post because I am having the same issue using GeoForms. I have created a public-facing geoform using a public-facing ArcGIS Online hosted feature layer/web map and users cannot successfully add attachments via the hosted feature layer or via the geoform. Current editing settings: Is it still just not possible to have these edit settings AND successfully add attachments? Only possible if you use Survey123? I have tried all of the workarounds (without enabling 'UPDATE' of 'Editors can see all features') in this message string to no avail. I do have a ticket open with support, I'll try to remember to update my message here if I find anything out. Ismael Chivite James Tedrick

I took a one day workshop going through the basics of ArcGIS Pro. It was really helpful for getting to know the new interface. I have not fully committed to using ArcGIS Pro but I try and use it at least every once in a while. The transition to ArcGIS Pro from ArcGIS Desktop reminds me of when Microsoft Office products switched from a dropdown menu bar to the ribbon-based menu bar - the tools are all there, I just need to figure out where. A couple of my biggest complaints so far are 1)I am still finding Pro to be a bit buggy - weird behavior that is inconsistent and requires restart 2)Even though I upgraded my computer to meet (and exceed) most all of the specs, I can still pretty consistently crash Pro 3)No ArcCatalog - how am I supposed to have persistent database and GIS connections? I have a whole slew (20+) GIS servers that I am connected to. Also hearing lots of rumors about getting rid of concurrent use licenses. It would not work well for my agency if we have to move to single use licenses. We have a couple hundred users but only a few power users. The concurrent licenses system works brilliantly for us. Speaking of concurrent - it would be really nice if ArcGIS Online would allow concurrent licenses, or at least the ability to "deactive" a user without deleting there account so that someone else could use it for a while. We have folks interested in using the Collector and Survey123 apps but would only need them for a month of two. Monthly (instead of annual) subscriptions would also work.

Thanks for your reply Steve. If I run your code as is, none of my initLoad (in my case window.load) code runs. I am not sure how this helps me.

I am trying to create a unique url string based on the map zoom level and center coordinate. This is easy enough until, in some cases, I must remove part of the url before doing so. I thought that using a combination of window.onload to remove part of the initial url and using map.on("extent-change", ...) to create the new url would work great, until I found out that extent-change will fire be window.onload finishes. I am a little new at javascript (approx. 1 year in, mostly self-taught) and was wondering if anyone knew of a work around of sorts or another way to accomplish this. Maybe some kind of deferred. Here is a bit of code:
//get the variables of areaID (hunt area, IOG area, or Access Yes! area), layerID (which layer to apply the ID query to), and label (what will appear in the legend). Get the zoom and map center coordinate variables.
var layerID, urlZoom, urlX, urlY, homeURL, zoomLevel, centerpoint, cX, cY, newURL, extentI, extentC;
window.onload = function(){
layerID = getVariableByName('lyr');
urlZoom = getVariableByName('zoom');
urlX = getVariableByName('X');
urlY = getVariableByName('Y');
if (typeof areaID != 'undefined'){
doQuery(layerID);
}
if (typeof urlZoom != 'undefined'){
var point = new Point(urlX, urlY, new SpatialReference({ wkid: 4326}));
map.setLevel(urlZoom);
map.centerAt(point);
}
//Get the url.
homeURL = window.location.href;
zoomLevel = map.getZoom();
centerpoint = webMercatorUtils.webMercatorToGeographic(map.extent.getCenter());
cX = parseFloat(centerpoint.x.toFixed(3));
cY = parseFloat(centerpoint.y.toFixed(3));
newURL ="?zoom=" + zoomLevel + "&X=" + cX + "&Y=" + cY;
//If the url contains an lyr parameter, remove part of url from ? to end.
if (window.location.href.indexOf("lyr") > 0){
$("#viewURL").append(homeURL);
window.history.pushState(null,null,window.location.href.slice(0,(window.location.href).indexOf('?')));
//If url has no lyr parameter.
} else {
$("#viewURL").empty();
homeURL = window.location.href;
$("#viewURL").append(homeURL + newURL);
}
//Create variable for load extent.
extentI = map.extent;
var I = "";
I = "ExtentI: XMin: " + extentI.xmin + "YMin: " + extentI.ymin + "XMax: " + extentI.xmax + "YMax: " + extentI.ymax;
}
//On extent change, change the url zoom and coordinate parameters.
map.on("extent-change", function(){
extentC = map.extent;
var C = "";
C = "ExtentC: XMin: " + extentC.xmin + "YMin: " + extentC.ymin + "XMax: " + extentC.xmax + "YMax: " + extentC.ymax;
if (extentI == extentC){
console.log("Extent hasn't changed");
}
if (extentI != extentC){
$("#viewURL").empty();
homeURL = window.location.href;
zoomLevel = map.getZoom();
centerpoint = webMercatorUtils.webMercatorToGeographic(map.extent.getCenter());
cX = parseFloat(centerpoint.x.toFixed(3));
cY = parseFloat(centerpoint.y.toFixed(3));
newURL ="?zoom=" + zoomLevel + "&X=" + cX + "&Y=" + cY;
$("#viewURL").append(homeURL + newURL);
}
});

Thanks Jason. That worked for me. The code originally came from an ArcGIS Online web application template (I am still learning to customize) so the code for an array of maps object stemmed from that. I am still learning - maybe I will figure out how to change it so it is just referencing my map. Thanks again!

WARNING: I am very new to using JavaScript and making custom web map application so please keep it simple. 😉 I would like to add the Basemap Gallery widget to my web map application. I have already successfully accomplished this on another application and just can't seem to figure out where the difference is. I started off creating this application by downloading an ArcGIS Online web map application template (I am starting to think I should just start from scratch and it would cause less headaches). When I insert the same code in the map.js file as I used for a previous application where the basemap gallery appeared and function perfectly, I received this error message "basemap gallery error: esri.dijit.BasemapGallery: could not find group for basemap". The application can be found at: http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/ifwis/maps/WildlifeTracts/ My code is attached.

I am trying to perform an ordinary kriging interpolation using the geostatistical wizard. I have a very large dataset (approximately 5000 points) that covers about 12,000 square meters. I would like to change the length of the major and minor axes but they are grey'd out - like that option is unavailable. Can anyone tell me why I don't have this option? Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks!
