I understand the reasoning as to why this is not currently possible to some degree, but at the same time, it seems like a very important features that should be standard in business environments. While it may not be possible with the way the system is built currently, it should be possible to change the AGOL backend to support this over time (and it has been some time since this was first raised). I don't think it's fair for ESRI to just say we will not address this due to the reasons our system is built, when they are the ones in charge of how the system is built and could change it accordingly. This would help with a lot of things, like people changing names for"happy" both "sad"and reasons, organizations changing names, organizations changing login schemes (built-in to SAML), typos and mistakes, changing of username generation scheme in organizations, etc. I see that most of the steps necessary to create a new user with a new name, and migrate old content and groups to the new user, can be automated, but not all. For example, group memberships in external groups cannot be transferred unilaterally from the home org, so this part cannot be automated. This is a big problem for large orgs.

@DougMorgenthalerI am wondering if there is any documentation available on the `_gnss_metadata.json` file that is being added by Field Maps. This would be very useful for us for post-processing elevation data, but I would like to learn more about the structure of this file before relying on it for production use. For example, does the order of the entries always match the order of vertices for a geometry? Or is there a recommended way to match those items? I've checked the below links, but both only refer to the fields that can be added, not this file: https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/field-maps/field-mobility/whats-new-in-arcgis-field-maps-june-2022/ https://doc.arcgis.com/en/field-maps/latest/prepare-maps/high-accuracy-data-collection.htm Thanks!

I believe we run into this issue quite a bit as well. I honestly had no idea the context manager for arcpy.da cursors was not a true context manager. This is a very frustrating issue and it seems crazy to me this is even a thing, considering that even ESRI staff are surprised by this as documented by the blog post you linked. ESRI, please fix this!

There is sort of a way to achieve this now, but it does not work very well and the documentation is terrible. It also requires an MDM setup. https://doc.arcgis.com/en/field-maps/android/help/deploy-your-map.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_CC53DED5869D43EA8357CDFE7CAE8959 I've tried setting this up with our IT group and there are too many limitations and unknowns for it to be worthwhile in my opinion. I think the better solution would be to make location profiles, etc. configurable at the org level, similar to custom basemaps for example.

We just ran into this issue as well. It turns out, there is a way to get the username back if you deleted it without disable ESRI access. 1. Have the user attempt to log in to the account at arcgis.com. If they don't remember the password, they can reset it. The login should work and result in being logged in to a public AGOL account. 2. Invite the user by selecting the option "Invite members to join by using an account of their choice". 3. One of the account options the member will have when accepting the invitation will be to convert their public AGOL account to an organizational one. Have the member select this option and they will receive the old username back.

I was able to get it to work in Firefox by manually deleting cookies & site data for the domain esri.com. Go to Settings, Privacy & Security, Manage Data and search for esri.com, then select Remove All Shown & Save Changes. Then I had to log in again and have not had the issue since. The same may help in Edge, though the specific procedure to delete specific site cookies is probably a little different.

I did click that link actually and it took me to a form that said I was reporting a post for abuse, so that didn't seem right, either.

Thank you Jesse. It would be nice to include some of this information in the message about the post having been removed as spam, and also to give users an option to appeal that decision, instead of just having to wait for someone to look at it at an undefined time. Even including the email address you provided in the deletion message would be a good start.

@RussRobertsIt looks like after the February 2023 release, it's still not possible to edit related records. Is there an update on when this will be available?

I posted a response to an older idea in the Ideas community. I just navigated back to it and was presented with a message indicating that my reply was removed as spam. Why was it removed as spam? Why was I not notified of this happening or given an opportunity to rectify whatever the moderators think I did wrong? What can I do to post my reply and not have it removed again, which I believe is a valuable addition to the Idea? Further, I just noticed that suddenly, the link I referred to in my reply has also been taken down with the message Sorry, the page you are trying to access has either been archived or you are unable to access with the account you are logged in with. Please contact our team at EsriCommunity@esri.com if you require help with access. Thanks This is the Ideas thread I posted on. This is the link to the reply I had posted, which is now unavailable.

I'm also seeing this issue - for now, opening in a new incognito window and then logging in on the community page seems to be another workaround.

This has been a long-standing issue in AGOL / Feature Services. It's possible to do this in a Map Service, but not a Feature Service - which is the only option in AGOL. See this thread for how long people have been wanting this feature - started in 2014: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-online-questions/flow-direction-arrows-arcgis-online/td-p/448951 There is a limited solution now that lets you put arrows at the beginning or end of a line, but that is completely useless in sewer systems where the lines meet at structures - the arrows and structures would overlap. It is also the industry standard do place flow arrows in the middle of the pipe. This is a very important feature for anyone trying to use AGOL / Feature Services for mapping gravity sewer systems. Please consider this idea. The old reason for this not being possible was that the client-side rendering does not allow this type of symbol, but it is now possible to have arrows at the beginning or end client-side, so why not in the middle? Clients have also become increasingly powerful and new rendering technology is available.

Thank you for this, I just ran into this as well. Luckily, I was able to just edit that file and copy the new encrypted password from a different server machine over to the one affected by this issue.

Is there any progress on this? It's quite annoying to be stuck with legacy path handling from Python 2, or always having to manually convert paths to strings, just because arcpy still does not support pathlib almost 3 years after this idea was posted.
