Hi, there Share an article talking about passenger information system which is close to our daily lives. Passenger information display systems (PIDS) deliver information to waiting passengers through displays hung above the platform or from the edge of the bus shelter and are increasingly being used to send information through smartphone apps and websites. But however the messages are received they are sent using the same basic system. The vehicle has automatic vehicle location (AVL) in the drivers cab, this is then delivered to a database which compares that information against a database and provides a prediction of when the vehicle will arrive. The most complicated part of this process is the AVL. Automatic vehicle location uses either a single or a combination of methods to obtain its data. Signpost systems use a system called signpost transmitters which tracks the vehicle using a series of transponders or RFID chips along the vehicles' routes. As each transponder is passed the vehicle "handshakes" the signpost transmitter and the data is then transmitted to a call center where it is monitored and sent to the message boards or apps. The other method is GPS, with its ubiquity, GPS systems provide an even more reliable way of tracking vehicles. They operate in the much the same way as a car navigation system in that they receive positioning data from the satellites, the difference is that the information is then sent via radio or GSM to the control center and then onto passengers...... Hi, I read an article about network accelerating , and I think it's worth to know something hot in the IT field. It mentions what WAN acceleration is ? WAN acceleration can drastically improve the speed of file transfers and the performance of many applications for your branch offices and remote workers. And since at least half, and by some estimates up to two-thirds, of all workers are located OUTSIDE the company's central office, this can be a big win. How does it work? WAN acceleration involves placing an appliance between your WAN router and your servers at the headquarters or primary data center and then another appliance in the same spot at each of the branch offices. The remote appliances then cache the large files that get sent repeatedly over the WAN and only replicate the small changes to the files. The appliances also do some compression and make some tweaks to optimize the networking protocols. other details Other reference

To improve public safety on highways, here is a new case in China. I believe this kind of new technology also can be used in other systems, like railroads or airplanes. 24/7 Surveillance for Highway Tunnel Security 4/19/2013 China??s booming economy has led the country to invest more on traffic infrastructure which has created the need for traffic management and security monitoring systems overseen by video walls displays in control rooms. Among all the traffic monitoring systems, those monitoring traffic safety in highway tunnels are especially mission-and-life critical. A large system integrator customer in China submitted a bid for a highway tunnel surveillance control room project which comprised of a video surveillance system, an emergency operations system, a vehicle recognition system, and a traffic management system. And crucially at the center, a video wall was needed in the main control room that was able to display all data and video coming from these systems in real time, with advanced warning capabilities that could draw an operators??attention to the most critical images. More The Surveillance System helps poeple control the situation in tunnel. If anything happens, we can react immediately and avoid wasting time.
