Hi, so I have a full post/zipcode dataset of over 1,000,000 features. However I want to filter out and consider only about 1500 of them. These postcodes have no common attribute but the exact postcode is in both the attribute table for the full dataset shapefile and in a column of the excel table. Could it be done by adding a column to the excel table populated with a one, attribute joining the table to the shapefile then filtering the shapefile by the 'one' attribute. Then I could create a new layer based on the selection? Not exaclty sure that would work, but if anyone has a solution or tweaks it would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi, Thanks for the tip. Can't believe I didn't think to test a negative number in the box. It works perfectly, however unfortunately the scheme is quite complicated so the resulting buffer is a little odd...

I have a 250m buffer, which was generated from a line. However, I no longer have access to the line shapefile and now need a 50m buffer. Is there a way to use the 250m buffer to generate a smaller one? Thanks

I know I could shift the points one by one, but there are over 6000 existing points. Is there a way to have them all move so they remain as close as possible to their current location but fall no closer than say, 5m of one another? Thanks

Hi Curtis, Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the split layer is a custom tool. Is there a way to use select layer by attributes to create new shapefiles? For the next part of the process I'm operating, I need each group of common attributes to become a new shapefile. Thanks

Hi, Thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I was going to try and do, the issue is I don't know how to make the output of the split layer by attributes tool to appear in the model. Is there a way to bring this up? Thanks

Hi All, I've attached a screen shot of the first steps of a model I'm trying to build. This is the first time I've used model builder so don't know much about it. However, I'm trying to put the data through the first tool, which is a tool from outside of the ESRI system toolboxes and then put the result into the next tool. I hope this is not to difficult, but could someone help me out please? Thanks

I have a set of buffers from 5-200m from a scheme at one metre intervals. Is there a way to make each buffer a ring, one metre wide, around the scheme? Alternatively, if I create new multiple buffers around the scheme which align with the existing ones, is there a way to spatially join the layers, but so that the attributes of the topmost existing buffer are the only ones retrieved by the new buffers? Thanks, Ellen

I'm looking to break up polygons by an existing attribute, the feature they were created around, into multiple different shapefiles. However, I'm struggling to find a tool which would achieve this. Is there a simple way to break them apart? Thanks!

Hi, I'm working on a project for which buffers have been created around a line scheme. Each line has 100-200 buffers at different distances. However, I need each of the buffers to be clipped to the extent of those inside of it, so each buffer is a ring rather a solid polygon. Each of the lines in the scheme has these buffers, but because the lines meet at certain points, the buffers from different lines also intersect, However, I need buffers which are the result of different lines, to ignore each other in the clip. Does anyone know how this might be done, either by script or by the toolbox? Thanks for any help

I'm looking to build a fairly basic web-app which gives information about features of a certain location. I have a colleague going on holiday to an area i know well so was going to log a set of 'Easter Eggs' that he might miss. However, I was hoping to publish the app so that it works in a similar way to the geocaching app. Whereby, when you get close to a location, the app recognises it is close to that point and automatically brings up information about it. Is this possible when building a simple web-app using a template in ArcGIS online? I've never done it before so really have no idea. Thanks

I have a set of point data containing attributes for their assignation code and the number of each feature found at that particular point. I want to label the features with both of these attribute concatenated together. eg; if the code is BC and the number is 12, the label reads 12BC. How do I set up a new attribute which combines both of these so I can assign the labels. Also, is there a way to filter out the concatenation where the number value is 1. eg; code = BC, number = 1 resulting label = BC? Thanks

Thanks for the info and the links, they really helped! Unfortunately my compelling reason is a uni project which needs a certain level of complexity, so making life deliberately harder for myself....
