I am running ArcPad 10.0 R3 (Build 33) on a Windows 7 (64-bit) desktop. The problem can be replicated on a Trimble Yuma (Windows 7 32-bit). I have exported several ArcPad projects from ArcGIS 10. In all of the projects, all of the data uses the "NAD_1983_HARN_WISCRS_Outagamie_County_Feet" projected coordinate system. After creating the ArcPad APM, the "Projection" tab in the Map Properties shows a projection of "NAD_1983_HARN_WISCRS_Outagamie_County_Feet" and a Datum of "D_North_American_1983_HARN(6152)", as would be expected. I am able to edit the APM file (toggle layer visibility, symbology, etc.) and save the APM with no difficulties. When I reopen the file, everything in the Map Properites Projection appears normal. However, if I manually add an orthophoto layer to the APM (which is also defined to have the "NAD_1983_HARN_WISCRS_Outagamie_County_Feet" projection) and save the APM file, the Map Properties Datum is reset the next time I open the APM. The Projection still reads "NAD_1983_HARN_WISCRS_Outagamie_County_Feet", but the Datum now reads "NAD83_High_Accuracy_Regional_Network (0)". This causes an issue when operating on a unit with a GPS, as I receive the warning "No datum transform from D_ITRF_2000 [or D_WGS_1984] to NAD83_High_Accuracy_Regional_Network." No warning is received before the Datum is reset, since there is a tranform between D_ITRF_2000 and the original Outagamie County projection. One potential work-around is to make sure the user does not save the APM after adding the raster image, but this would require manually adding the raster layer each time the APM is opened (and remembering not to save the APM during the session). Has anyone else noticed this, and possibly found a solution?

I've noticed that I cannot export to a network drive (with or without spaces in the path), but can always export to a local drive (with or without spaces in the path). Whenever I attempt to export to a network location, ArcMap will crash and shut down. When I check the network location, all of the files are there (axf, shapefiles, etc), EXCEPT the APM file. My temporary work-around is to save to a local directory, but hopefully ESRI addresses this in an upcoming patch.

I ended up doing an uninstall of ArcPad 10 on the GeoXH, manually removing all folders and files associated with ArcPad and GPScorrect, and reinstalled ArcPad 10. After doing this, ArcPad was able to connect to the GPS on COM2. Hopefully, once the updated version of GPScorrect is released (early Q3 2010 according to my Trimble vendor), I'll have a little more control of the GPS settings again.

I did a clean install of ArcPad 10 on a Trimble GeoXH (2008 series). Previously, I had been running the beta version (Beta 2) with no GPS issues, just slow performance. With the "final" version installed, performance is much better, but I cannot connect to the internal GPS. Because Trimble GPScorrect is not compatible with ArcPad 10 at this time (per my Trimble vendor), I uninstalled it, so I am only running ArcPad 10 on the unit. I've tried both COM2 (NMEA serial port) and COM3 (TSIP serial port) in ArcPad, but nether one receives a GPS signal. I can go into the GPS Controller application on the GeoXH and it appears to be tracking satellites (on COM3). COM2 (without GPScorrect) seemed to work in Beta 2, but something seems to have changed in the final version. Any ideas?

So does this mean that only ArcPad 10 will be supported in ArcGIS 10? Or will the final release of ArcGIS 10 also include support for ArcPad 7.1.1 and/or 8? We have several older devices with Windows CE that need to use ArcPad 7.1.1 (ArcPad 8 needs Windows Mobile). I'm trying to determine if those will be obsolete once we upgrade to ArcGIS 10.

I understand that ArcPad 7.1 and ArcPad 8 are not functional with beta 1 or beta 2. Will ArcPad compatibility be available in the next beta release, or has ESRI decided to abandon the idea of ArcPad interacting with ArcGIS Desktop starting at version 10?

smorgan_trpd: Great workaround! It seemed to work on my mobile device as well. Hopefully ESRI will respond to this thread with an update as they work on this issue.

I can verify that the same thing happens on my installation, so you're not alone. If you find a solution, please pass it along.

I had the same problem. But the "simple" solution is to use "Save as" and not "Export". In the "save project document" dialog select "On a Web Server". That seemed like a good idea. I tried it, and I did indeed have the option to save the project to the web server. I selected the web server from the list, updated the credential information for good measure, and tried to save the project. However, I was greeted with an error message: "Save error - Unable to save project prjTest. Check the eventlog for more information." Unfortunately, I can't find the eventlog to get more information. I'm assuming that it's because there is no mobile project server set up on the server, but I could be wrong.

Hopefully yes. We are working on new setups for ArcGIS Server .NET and inside of the new setup we will include the "Project Server". I cannot confirm for sure that the new setup will be in beta 2 but we are working towards making that happen. For beta 1 you will need to run the separate project server setup. We did not get a chance to install/test under Beta 1, but are now working on getting Beta 2 installed. Unfortunately, most of the support information for Mobile still seems to refer to Beta 1. I did not see an option for a "Project Server" installation under ArcGIS Server .NET when we installed it (Beta 2), nor did I see a separate installation package, either on the ArcGIS Server ISO or the ArcGIS Mobile ISO. Is there something that we missed when we did the install? We've been able to create a mobile service, access it through the Mobile Project Center, and save a mobile project locally through MPC. However, our installation of MPC does not seem to include any options for specifying or managing a mobile project server. When we try to export the project (AMP file), only local options are enabled. Are we still missing a component of the install? I apologize if we're overlooking something basic - we had 9.3 running pretty easily, but can't seem to get 9.4 up and running.
