i have been for the past few months, i have written a program that uses ArcGIS Engine and an open source program called JFreeChart. both programs work fine separetly and together under development. i can write code for both programs and they work and run fine. However, when i deploy my recently build program, it does not run. i only get an error in the terminal that says "aborted" and nothing else. both programs can run fine separately but when put together the produce this error. to be clear , only when deployed, using arcgis engine runtime 9.3.1, does the error show up. im confused and hoping someone have come across this problem before. any insights would be much appreciated. oh and the Operating system is linux centos 5.6 64bit.

i downgraded to java 1.5_22, but im getting an error that says java.lang.ClassUnsupportedVersionError: bad version number in .class file a google search indicates that the java used to compile the jar file is not the same as the java used to run the jar file. aka it was built from java 1.6 and when i ran it with java 1.5 it didnt like it. also , i tried running arcgis runtime on windows with java 1.6_26 and it worked fine. so the java versions most likely is not the issue. im wondering if maybe i need to get service pack 1 for runtime 9.3 ?

okay i figured some things out. dont touch LD_LIBRARY_PATH even though the error says you need to add arcgis/bin to it. it will only give you more errors..hence my "abort" error. oh and i also tried the package, it doesnt seemt to work on either my Centos or red hat 5 OS. is there a specific version of java im supposed to get?

is there anywhere in the arcgis coding that "aborts" java ? i have an error while trying to troubleshoot the problem. i type in "java -jar Splinetext.jar" after sourcing init_engine.sh and init_java.sh AND putting arcgis/bin in LD_LIBRARY_PATH AND ldconfig a shared library(libshlwapi.so) and i get an error message that just says "Abort" . im wondering if arcgis is throwing this error

so does it mean that all the errors that im getting thru root are not the real cause but just superficial? do i need to add arcgis/bin to LD_LIBRARY_PATH as some of the errors suggest? or adding JAVA_HOME/bin to PATH sufficient enough? can we clear something up, am i suppose to be editing PATH or LD_LIBRARY_PATH? and who and what am i adding to PATH/LD_LIBRARY_PATH

so i have been trying to get this to work for weeks now, running into problem after problem. Currently, im trying to run arcgis engine runtime 9.3 on red hat . under root i get this error Could not load native libraries. ArcGIS/bin should be added to LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /home/nhieuduong/arcgis/bin/libntvninv.so: libshlwapi.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. ive checked and libntvninv.so is in the /home/nhieuduong/arcgis/bin directory. so is it saying that it cant find libshlwapi.so ? i followed all the procedures outlined by arcgis on there website. sourced the init_engine file and the init_java file and placed java home env variable in the java directory. my regisitration is complete. i have the correct licenses. did anyone encounter something similiar that can maybe shed some light as to what is going on?

the weird thing is that if i follow the whole procedure in root, i get a different msg. the error msg i get is could not load native libraries. ArcGIS/bin should be added to LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable. java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no ntvinv in java.library.path.. ..... ...... .... i followed exactly what they said to do for the post installation . i shouldnt be getting this error. also is root needed to run arcgis ?

we have been trying for a while now, with every method we can think of. we are having no luck. the error message is ambigious, and the customer service for arcgis is of no help. if anyone has any ideas, even just brainstorming post them on the thread. im running out of ideas as to why this is not working.

yes we are, downloaded and installed.. it would at least make some sense if our own java programs didnt work but to have arcgis engine devo kit sample java programs (there jar files) to not work also, indicates we are missing something here, something fundamental.
