Hope this helps, first two screenshots are of separate models that I had to build and then insert into the third screenshot/model. The data being processed is located on a network drive

I hate the stupid little size 4 simple circle for point feature classes. What if I wanted every point layer I added into the map to show as a star or a diamond? Is this possible? If not, why would ESRI not include this functionality? Seems so very simple.

Ok, so that worked somewhat. Only problem is it calculated the value of one folder higher in the hierarchy then I wanted. I switched the Parse Path type to "Name" instead of "Path" and it worked perfectly. Thanks much for the help.

I am iterating through multiple subfolders yes but the folder name that I want to capture is the one that holds all of the subfolders.

Hi, I have put together a model that takes all of the shapefiles in a folder and merges them together. I basically need to know how to use the name of the folder in the name of the output merged file. For instance, let's say that I have a folder with a directory of "G:\GIS\Data\Birds". So the folder "Birds" is my input folder and includes shapefiles of "robins.shp" and "sparrows.shp". I want the output name to be "Birds_merged.shp" or "Input Folder Name & Birds". I have tried using inline variables but then I get the entire directory for the input folder. Is there a way to access the name property of a folder and use it in the model? Thanks.

I think I figured out what is going on....I checked the Screen Resolution on the netbook and it was 1366x768......I changed the Screen Resolution on my desktop to match this before publishing the map and now when I go to the bookmark scales using ArcReader on the netbook (50,000) it displays in the right scale.....Awesome.

I published a map with bookmarks set at certain scales. The reason for doing this is because when using the GPS Layer, you cannot access the Map Scale dropdown to go to a specific scale such as 500,000 which is the scale at which I've designated certain features and labels to turn on. The problem is that after publishing the map and opening it in ArcReader on a netbook - when I go to those preset bookmarks the scales do not come up the same as they were when I published the map. If I click on the bookmark for 100,000, the map zooms to 150,639. I'm assuming this is because the screen on the netbook is much smaller and ArcReader is trying to maintain an aspect ratio or something. Does anyone know what is going on and if/how to fix it? Thanks.

Sorry to interrupt this thread with off-topic content but I'm actually trying to contact MCederholm concerning another matter and can't figure out how to do it throught the ESRI forums. MCederholm if you'd be so kind as to tell me how I can get in touch with you, I'd be ever so grateful. Thanks.
