Derek Law I am using version 2.4. Because I did this successfully before, I am quite confused as to which step I am making an error on. I am going to post the exact workflow that I have taken to load the developer edition. If you have time within the next week or two, I would really appreciate it if either of you could pinpoint the step in which I am making a mistake. Step 1: I downloaded the Developer edition and extracted it to my drive. Step 2: In the My Content menu I clicked Add Item --> An application For URL I put https://<my computer name>.esri.com:3344/webappbuilder I opened the app and clicked Settings. At the bottom of the page I clicked register. For the URLs I put http://<mycomputername> and https://<mycomputername> I now have an App ID. Step 3: Here is the Web AppBuilder folder contents: Double click the startup application After loading, the startup looks like this: Step 4: Go to ArcGIS for Developers. In the Dashboard, I launch the application I made to create the App ID. The following shows up: <mycomputername>.esri.com I found that when I delete .esri.com from the domain name, it loads the following page correctly: The following lines are added to the startup: Step 5: Click Configure app on the menu screen. Then I click the widgets tab and the following menu pops up: As you can see, the Enhanced Bookmark, Enhanced Basemap, Map Progress, Popup Panel and Layer Toggle Button. Step 6: The next day, I downloaded various widgets from Robert's page and used the same process. I downloaded the zip files, extracted them and moved the to the folder path: ..........\AGOL Files\arcgis-web-appbuilder-2.4\WebAppBuilderForArcGIS\client\stemapp\widgets I have also tried to add them to: ..........\AGOL Files\arcgis-web-appbuilder-2.4\WebAppBuilderForArcGIS\server\apps\2\widgets This is what the startup looks like at this point: When I re-load the developer, the new widgets fail to show up like they did before. Is there any steps that I'm missing? Do I have to do anything with the code in the developer that I need to update for this? I feel that there is likely errors I am making along the way but I just can't seem to find where I am going wrong. I appreciate your assistance.

I have been working to upload custom widgets from the following site: Roberts Custom WAB Widgets . I have done this successfully in the past and was able to upload widgets such as the Layer Toggle Button. The WAB for developers has been downloaded and set up for creating apps. I was able to fully implement the new widgets into the WAB. Now, 1 week later, I tried to add new widgets to the stemapp folder and they refuse to upload into the online WAB. The command prompt shows a message: "message: not extended C:\(Location of the custom widgets that I am attempting to add) I have used guides provided by Derek Law such as http://www.esri.com/esri-news/arcwatch/0217/add-custom-widgets-to-web-appbuilder-for-arcgis-developer-edition and http://www.esri.com/esri-news/arcwatch/0117/configure-web-appbuilder-for-arcgis-developer-edition-to-work-with-your-arcgis . I followed the guides almost exactly. In order to load the developer, I click on 'Open Application' on the application that I configured in the earlier steps. After this I must delete ".esri.com" from the domain name in order for the developer to properly load. In the Redirect URLs I also omitted the ".esri.com." I have tried reloading the page several times but the widgets are never properly uploaded. I can't figure out what the issue may be.

Eninna, I know this was long ago, but did you ever figure out how to upload these layers into a group. I seem to be having the same problem as you.

Hey Derek, I think I resolved this issue. For some reason it was inserting .esri.com between my computer name and the port. Deleting this resolved the issue and I was able to connect. I do have one last question that I'm hoping you can answer. I've been attempting to order the layer list such that there are larger sub-categories that you can click on and expand to reveal more layers. I have about 20 layers but most of them could be combined into 5 main groups that I would like to have the option to toggle on and off. Is there a simple solution to this? I had already attempted to re-group in ArcMap and then upload them in groups but it just removes this formatting. Here is what my layer list looks like: As an example, I would like the 6 LOS layers to be included in one LOS group. Here is an example of what I want it to look like: As you can see, the top subset has three sub-layers.

Thanks Robert, we had tried to bring it into the map already grouped but it does not keep the grouping once its uploaded. We uploaded the groups as one GDB but AGOL seems to break the shapefiles apart so they are no longer grouped together. I am attaching an image of what we are seeing when the layers are added to the web app. For example, we would like to have a top heading for LOS that you could expand to reveal the 6 layers. And the same for PTI data with the 2 layers. How do you do it in the map service?

I downloaded ArcGIS online for developers and was able to configure it to connect to my computer. I was able to successfully add in custom widgets to my online web app. Everything ran smoothly the first day but after restarting my computer the next day, nothing would work. Upon opening the links it says: This site can’t be reached (my computer name) refused to connect I just don't understand why it worked one day and not the other. Is there any extra steps I have to take to open it each day? I did not move any files before or after restarting my computer either. Do you have any idea what the issue may be. I appreciate all of your assistance with this.

I created a web app using the web AppBuilder in AGOL and need to use the light gray canvas basemap. This basemap is useful for the colors and data that we are trying to show. The problem is that the road labels do not appear until you are zoomed in very close. Is there a way to edit the visibility of just the road labels (i.e. the interstate road signs)? If not is there a way to upload just the road labels for the state of Maryland?

In the Layer List, how do you create subsets? In the example in the 'Live Preview Site' when you click Layer List it has the option to expand the two main layers to reveal smaller subsets of data. I have about 20 layers but most of them could be combined into 5 main groups that I would like to have the option to toggle on and off. Is there a simple solution to this? I have installed ArcGIS for Developers onto my computer successfully.

I am looking to add the Layer Toggle widget to my existing AGOL web appbuilder app. I do not have the web appbuilder for developers though. Will I need this in order to add a custom widget to my app? If I do need to download webapp builder for developers, are custom widgets easy to implement? I have tried to download and run the developer version but do not understand what to input for the portal. Do I need knowledge of Java to do this? This thread is where I am downloading custom widgets that I want to use: https://community.esri.com/thread/119278-roberts-custom-wab-widgets?messageTarget=all&start=25&mode=comments
