here, by login to given ftp site. i have downloaded the exercises and tutorial data under classes section. the zip files are password protected. files like AHExercises1015.zip are password protected and i am unable to locate the password. i need someone unzip this data to use for exercises. otherwise, it is useless for me. thanks Nadeem

The best thing for you to do is to start with our Network Analyst tutorials, available here: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/index.html#//00470000005r000000 yes i have seen the tutorials you have mentioned but they are too lengthy and complex to understand the things precisely. i have set the hierarchy on the network but network solver do not follow the same as i desire. tell me the solution how to make a function class much resist to travel let say i want function class 4 more resist and network only follow this line when other options are not available for the route. i have four function classes 1,2,3 and 4. in network dataset i want to make function class 4 more resist and least traveled. this class must be used when other options for routing are not available. this will help me a lot to achieve what i am trying to do. i need technical detail beside ideas. i mean real example how to play or add something on network dataset to make it exactly what i am looking for.

Here are a few ideas: 1) Create a rail-only restriction and a road-only restriction on your network. If you know in advance where your input points are located (on the roads, on the rails, or on both), you can turn on or off the appropriate restrictions before running the analysis. 2) On the features that connect the rail lines with the road lines, invoke a large impedance penalty to discourage transitions between the two. This way, it's very likely that two points on roads will use only roads for the route, two points on rails will use only rails to connect, but a point on the road and another point on the rail will be forced to make a transition somewhere even though it's penalized. great idea. but i also have no idea to how to set the impedance on the network. please mentioned some simple tricks and steps to me. your contribution will be highly appreciated. thanks

dear all experts and scholar, i have a unique issue while preparing and working on network datasets. i have two datasets one for road travel and 2nd for rail travel, there are switches between rail and road to switch from one network on another network. this is about dataset i have. but i need a special kind of functionality for this network. condation1: when start point and end point both are on road network route must be on road network. condation2: when start point and end point both are on rail network route must be on rail network. condation3: when one point is on rail network and other on rail network then route use the switch between two networks to shrift. so far i am unable to implement these condations so far. problem: the route do not follow above rules and draw a route which is more favorable

yes it working now. thanks buddy rfairhur24 its really very great job i really appriciate. you did well. one more task for you if you feel easy. in next column i want to find the great value of sequential number generated through this script. for each route. like route 1 as great value or number of counts equal to 305. the next colum should populate with this number for each point of route 1. similarly for each rroute. CID SEQ GREATEST VALUE 1 1 4 1 2 4 1 3 4 1 4 4 this is the final task for me. after this my application will be fully functional. once again thanks for your golden time with me

hello everyone the script given in response to my post by rfairhur24 is not working well i tried it many ways i request rfairhur24, please try it and then send me back. i try hard to get job done with this script but its not working. i also request the other user or expert to please do me favor and just post something different and new for this task. i also request rfairhur24 please provide me stand alone python script that can work like a tool, any thing that could work batter. there is another option that i have each route have single unique ID named CID. for every route CID is different like for route no 1. points CID is 1, for route no.2 CID is 2 same is true for 23 routes. i am looking for a scripts that generate the sequential ID for each CID. best regards Nadeem Fareed

hello python hero and legends. i have more then 23 routes generated by using network analyst. later on, i have converted the route into point shapefile. new formed point shapefile have many hundred of points for each routes. i have created a new column and i want to populate that column with sequential numbers for each point. a python script is available for such calculation but this scripts generates sequential number starting from 1st point to last one regardless the route class. i am looking for some advance calculation. i want sequential numbering for each route in new column. like route type seq.no 1 point 1 1 point 2 1 point 3 1 point 4 2 point 1 2 point 2 2 point 3 . . . . so on. i need all this is a single python script. looking forward your great contribution. hello everyone. i know a script which is used for sequential number generation in a field. the script is given below. Expression: autoIncrement() Expression Type: PYTHON_9.3 Code Block: rec=0 def autoIncrement(): global rec pStart = 1 #adjust start value, if req'd pInterval = 1 #adjust interval value, if req'd if (rec == 0): rec = pStart else: rec = rec + pInterval return rec this is very useful when we want to calculate the sequence number for whole field. but i am looking for same thing in a different manner. i have point shapefile which have different classes, each class have more then 100 records. i want to generate the sequence number for each class in a single field. e.g.. class1= 101 records, class2=105 records, class3=110 records.these records are present in classes field i have another field name seq.numer. in this field i want to generate sequential number for each class in this field starting from 1 for each class. i hope you understand what i mean. hello everyone well i am using moderbuilder to automate some geoprocessing work. i have used arcgis tool in model builder then save the model to run, whenever it is needed. problem is when i run the model it give me massage the output already exists. i want to overwrite the output features that are stored on database. i have enable the option in geoprocessing "overwrite the geoprecessing results" but it does not work. please let me know how i can do this that everytime when i run the model it overwrite the previous files in the geodatabase. overwriting is important so i am not ok with alternatives. thanks alot
