While defining the projection for a new feature dataset, it occurred to me that I have not defined a z coordinate in a while. Well, I have some field data now with elevation (z values). Out of curiosity, why or when would I need to define a Z coordinate system? Here's whats bothering me. If the projection is the same when the data was collected (x,y,z), do I still have to create a z coordinate in arccatalog? I mean the xy coordinate defined should cover this as well...correct? considering mean sea level does not change. I would appreciate some simple scenarios why a z coordinate would be required in addition to an existing x,y coordinate already defined. Thanks for taming my GIS curiosity.

I have a db view (oracle view) created from a join of multiple multi-version views. Using ArcObjects to read the view from the db, I get an exception that the table does not exist. I am unable to register the view with the geodatabase. My question: 1. What steps are required to read an oracle view using ArcObjects (C# 2010)? Thanks in advance.

I get the error below when attempting to export my personal geodb to an xml file using GDB Designer 2. I have msxml 4.0 installed and running arcgis 9.3.1. I can import an exported workspace xml using direct export from arccatalog, however, the option to export from gdb designer 2 fails. Please help. Thanks. ..... I have a task to determine KP's (kilometer post) from existing pipeline stationing in a geodatabase. I am not quite sure how to go about this, has anyone attempted something of this nature? Your inputs are appreciated.
