Hi Melanie, I'm sorry, I didn't see that anyone had answered my question. I now have a much smaller mosaic dataset focused on our area of interest and am still running into the same problem. Several times the Viewshed tool worked once and then wouldn't run again when I tried to run it on the next viewpoints. Well, it acts like its running then results in an empty dataset. Can I edit the cell size of the mosaic dataset?

I made a mosaic dataset with about 200 tiles of IFSAR DSM data. I need to run a Viewshed Analysis on an area that has probably 150 or so of the tiles. I pulled the mosaic dataset into ArcGIS and am running the Spatial Analyist View shed tool with 5 points selected in the input point file. The tool runs for less than a minute and tells me the Output raster: <empty>. What am I missing? Thanks, Michelle

The MultiMXDReport.py worked great - but left me with txt files with lots of extraneous lines. Since I had dozens of MXDs linking to dozens of data sources, I got help on Experts-Exchange with a VBA script that extracts the data I need into an Excel table. In case anyone here is interested - here is the link to my question on EE and an excel macro that that an EE expert kindly created for me. http://www.experts-exchange.com/Microsoft/Applications/Q_27675332.html#a37852862

Thank you both! I'm using the version of the script actually included in the "20 script tools" referenced in the message I was originally looking at instead of the one I copied from the post. It seems to be running. We shall see...

I've been attempting to use a python script to list all data sources used in an mxd (need it for entire lists of mxd's really). The trouble is I don't program or know python. Is there a more direct way to do this - say a tool in ArcToolbox I don't know about? Here's what i've done so far. I used the script found here: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/20745-python-script-to-export-file-paths-of-all-features-in-mxd-into-text-document I created a new toolbox in ArcToolbox and added a script. Set the source to the mxd_list.py script on my c drive. created 2 parameters named folderPath and output (type folder and textfile). I created a text file for the output in the same folder where my mxds are. When I run the script it allows me to choose the folder and text file input parameters, but it crashes and I get the following message: <type 'exceptions.IndentationError'>: expected an indented block (mxd_list.py, line 16) Failed to execute (MXDlist). Can anyone help me get this to work this afternoon? I have attached the script. Thanks, Michelle

This has just happened to my intern without the compacting step. Editing was not turned on. She was printing maps from a series of mxd files that contain the same source data, so it had been accessed multiple times this morning (not touched for 2 or 3 weeks before this). Her screen froze, so she closed the mxd and re-opened it to find red exclamation marks on all layers connected to the file geodatabase. It's not clear to me whether installing SP3 will allow me to re-establish the connection to the database or prevent future incidents from happening. Is our geodatabase (and 6 months of work) gone?

This happening to me too. It's the ArcPad Data Manager toolbar that is grayed out. I followed your steps to reset in the Customize/Customize Mode page. I hit reset & the tools appeared available. But when I close the window they are grayed out again. Any more ideas on this? Thanks!

I'm designing a form in ArcPad studio for sample card descriptions. I need a SampleID field that auto increments by one with each new sample point collected, but allows the user to change the number if necessary. The field in the gdb is a numeric, double precision number. The numbers on the physical sample cards are 6 digit numbers. I see the option for auto incrementing in the control properties of my "Edit_samplenum" text box, but it is grayed out. In the tree window I changed the auto increment line to "autoincrement=true", but that just puts a checkmark in the the grayed out box. I have a VB script that we used with our old ArcPad 6 & 7 forms that worked just like we needed it to. Is there a new script on the ArcPad forum somewhere I'm not seeing? I'm not a programmer so I was hoping there would be a simple selection for this in APStudio. I tried to attach the script to this post but it's too big (15k) in txt format & it wouldn't let me attach a .vbs file. How can I get this to work?
