Dear Mr Reitz, My name is Mihai Atofanei, and I am using one of the rules that you wrote in 2013 3DCIM_Parcel_ZoningEnvelope, for which I am greatfull because it helped me a lot in a project that I am working in at the moment. In the same time I am experiencing some difficulties for some reason the parcel layer that I created via Data Interop workflows from the 3D_Cim_Master_Template, where 7-10 parcels once I apply the rule a model is created but it is not an envelope, I have attached a print screen. I made a few changes in the rule especially in the "Buildable-->" part in "case geometry>0" thinking that this may condition which of the shapes goes "through" to the process, but it changed for a few of the parcels but not for all of them. I have attached a print screen form CE and a notepad with the changed rule. Some help in solving this part would be highly appreciated. For any additional info for this issue I am happy to send more info. Thank you in advance! Mihai Atofanei

Hy there, My name is Mihai, I have been for the past two months getting acquainted with CE, we are trying to implement it in our urbanism projects, and as I go deper into the reading/studying I find that I am missing some concepts along the way, that confuses me a bit, while I am trying to understands how all this works. This being said I have a few questions that I have and an answer or a resource that could clarify these question will be appreciated: Map Layers- especially the Obstacle Map layer, how are they created (I have seen the interface from CE) but my question is what type of data do you use to build a Map Layer, a practical case where it was used will be very helpful. Ex. If you have a urbanism regulation that says your are allow to build in a specific array of heights..how would one use this info to put it in a map layer to be used when developing urban areas? Atribute Sources and Display- what is the difference between Object/Shape/Layer attribute? I understand how a attribute is defined in the rule and then is displayed in the Inspector and you can change from there, but I don't understand how the 3 sources presented above are "baked" into the Inspector view A practical example from your experience would help. lowHeight= 50%: 0.4 else: 0.6 attr floorheight = rand(4, 5) RecursiveSetbacks --> case scope.sy > 2 * floorheight : split(y){ 'lowHeight : Mass | ~1: Setback } else: s('1, floorheight, '1) Mass In this case what would be the difference between the lowHeight -attribute and the floorheight attribute? This is from Turorial 8 : Mass Modeling-http://desktop.arcgis.com/en/cityengine/latest/tutorials/tutorial-8-mass-modeling.htm If you assign a rule to a shape is there a possibility to "unassign" it? I have encountered the follwing terms : function/rule/command, What is the difference between them? I will stop here for now, cheers in advance for any leads. Mihai A.

Hy, I have a question about the use case presented by the Singapore Urban Authority, creating a development scenario they created those three yellow views that they want to be preserved while developing the new neighborhood, any suggestions how can you create them? As well they have a height control mechanism (screen shot 2) were they conditioned the new development to a certain height, any suggestion how this one can be coded? Any leads will be much appreciated, Thank you, Mihai Designing Our Future – Urban Redevelopment Authority - YouTube

Hy Thomas Below is a webminar for Data Interop.. an ArcGis add-on , and starting with min. 35:00 of the video it shows a workflow to extract the BIM data and transfer it into ArcGis format, and then easy to integrate it in City Engine. Hope it helps!! Mihai ArcGIS Data Interoperability: Tips for LiDAR, 3D, and BIM - YouTube
